Is Stupid_Dog online? Had an Oblivion question related to Fallout. For the Warrior Earthbones perk. Specifically this bit.>You can survive in any environment this world has to offer, and have an easy time adapting to even inhospitable regions. This means an immune system that could survive Black Marsh, where conventional poisons and diseases are overcome with ease. The frigid waters of Skyrim would cause you little discomfort. Even entering in to a volcanic dimension of cataclysms where the skies are choked with ash? That’s fine too. Survival for days on end without food or rest would be uncomfortable but not bring you any risk.Wanted to know how you think it would apply to stuff like Radiation, and to what degree? Wouldn't be asking for most durability perks cause it doesn't intrinsically mean you can resist radiation better but this specifically points out hostile magical biomes and environmental hazards.
>>96536964I don't think TES Oblivion has many radioactive environments
>>96536988It doesn't. But the range of instances the perk applies is vast and thats why I wanted to check.
>>96537009So, to clarify, you know that The Elder Scrolls doesn't have radioactive environments, but you still want to check if a perk that gives you resistance to all the environments in The Elder Scrolls gives you resistance to radiation?
>>96537017Yes cause it mentions a superhuman boost to constitution and endurance in Fallout gives rad resistance and this one goes out of its way to mention in addition to that it provides environmental resistance in absurd environment. This isn't that complicated, just cause radiation isn't a factor in Elder Scrolls doesn't mean that qualities in that setting wouldn't be useful or apply in Fallout.
First time posting on here, so excuse the clumsy nature of this thread.I've been pretty unsatisfied with how bare bones and downright vacant the Elemental Planes are in traditional Dungeons and Dragons. So I started writing my own additions, which has slowly ballooned out into a much bigger project. Adding not only new locations, but also biomes, creatures, cultures, and ways of life. In short, aside from showing off what I have so far, I need help. I've pretty much exhausted my pool of knowledge and inspiration and I'm far from done. So I'm throwing my net into this ocean hoping to get new perspectives and ideas that I wouldn't have on my own. I don't just want to make something up just for the hell of it, I want to make something that feels cohesive and plausible given the fantastical elements. Math, Science, History, Obscure Mechanics, One Off Ideas - I want it all.If any of this sounds interesting, please take a look. Over 40k works split over the Planes of Fire, Air, and Water.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HqK-6In4kTF6I0n2vgdNhe6YlUiezjFKpkFyNQWaFYw/edit?usp=sharing You can contact me on Discord: loregenesis

>>96314431You only talked a little about deities in the sheet, what would you suggest if each elemental plane had its own gods and other divine beings like angels, what divine authorities would you give each element besides the obvious like sailing/sailors for Water?

I don't even care she's a woman, but this character does not look remotely evil or menacing. She doesn't look like a "Dark" Eldar. You can't even tell if she's a generic fanatasy hero or not, they all have the same dumb blank but stern expression. She should be cackling evily at the torment of her enemies, not making that same face Rey always did in Disney Star Wars.. Hell she even has normal colored skin when DE are meant to be sickly pale from soul consumption.

Welcome to the New School Revolution General, the thread dedicated to the games inspired by the Old School Revival (mainly for zoomers that didnt grow up with B/X). I want to run Ultraviolet Grasslands, or Our Golden Youth, or Uranium Butterflies, or whatever the fuck the latest Luke Rejec system is. I want the one that works best, but they're all slingly different and unsupported (no form fillable sheets, no material connecting them, no third party giving you a succint explanation). So what am I supposed to do? Just run UVG 2e? I really hate how the mechanics are explained there. The Vastlands Guidebook is much more clearer, but it compresses traits and abilities in a single aspect so it doesn't play the same and I'd need to make my own character sheets. Uranium Butterflies has the better spell list and separates attacks on body, mind, and social; I really liked that, but it's a confusing beast of a book.Am I supposed to mish mash? Is he explaining the right way to use them in his blog or patreon? Should I give up on the system becasue it's unusable and just use the setting with something like Into The Grasslands?
>>96536769I've talked to someone who ran UVG before for his local group, the impression that I got was the system element part is pretty incomplete and he ended up running it on top of Cairn as the base system
>>96536769samefagging, in his recent crowded funded project for a UVG box there's a book called Vastlands Guidebook that was written to be a complete rules set specifically to run all his shit with. there's an early draft of it for free here https://www.exaltedfuneral.com/products/vastlands-guidebook-bootleg-beta-early-release-free-pdfhis work is aesthetically cool but kind of like Vaarn, Yoon-Suin and such I don't think I'd ever actually run it
>>96535763>one of the worst designed gamesSure, no one is gonna judge you for playing complete crap.
>>96536979I really liked how he used a Fate style abstract skill element to incorporate the setting. When I tried running it the players got pretty interested in the lore from the random background tables. Incorporating complex settings, premade or mine, always feels like a challenge and in this case I had them asking questions and wanting to know more.

Are there any cool real world facts you have used to inspire parts of your world-building?
>>96528812>consequences of magical society under these conditions?>consequencesLogical consiquence is humans find ways to manipulate the contract system, taking advantage of the weakest willed entities and using them to exploit loopholes in the contracts of other demons. Eventually a autistic chain of minmaxed subjugation forms, high level mages not even appearing in the mortal realm anymore instead using a demonic middleman as a proxy to rules-laywer meteors out of the sky.
>>96515130>How much (or how little) do you borrow ideas from real animals, plants, fungi, and speculative evolution? Are there any cool real world facts you have used to inspire parts of your world-building?I incorporate real-world biology into my fantasy critters, and I incorporate magical folklore into my mundane animals.Dragons have all sorts of exotic glands for a skilled sawbones to extract. Dogs and wolves are bigoted against each other over a theological dispute from the dawn of history. Griffons and hippogriffs are related and can produce sterile offspring, but those sorts of unions can also produce chimeras. Maggots spontaneously generate in foodstuffs/carcasses that are unobserved. Most diseases can be banished by an exorcist, and most curses can be cured by a pharmacist.
>>96536323So jewish lawyers who mastered solipsism and pilpul are the top level magic users of the setting?

>>96536789It's an urban fantasy horror game like World/Chronicles of Darkness featuring vampires and mages and werewolves and more like World/Chronicles of Darkness and uses a variant of the Storyteller system that World/Chronicles of Darkness use. It shares so much DNA with World/Chronicles of Darkness that I think treating it as its own unique and independent thing would be disingenuous.
>>96536855Right but so is treating it like it's some version of WoD. Because it's not. Like I said, it's a soft spiritual successor but it's fairly obviously distinct and it's more different from WoD than any of the actual WoD iterations are from each other.
>>96536875We can agree to disagree then.
Question for the folks that have been following Curseborne: what can you tell me about the general setting? And since comparisons are inevitable, what differences does each gameline have in relation to their WoD/CofD counterpart?
>>96536924The general gist of the setting is that every bit of bad luck and strangeness in the world are curses, at least in the broad strokes. They spread over the world in a tangled web of cause and effect in a way that's not too dissimilar to other settings' notions of fate, and manipulating these curses is how magic is performed. Powerful curses are responsible for creating all the playable splats (accursed). There isn't a strictly enforced masquerade, and the culture of the world treats the supernatural as more of a reality. It's not a "everyone knows vampires exist" sort of thing but it's a "most people think ghosts are real, have had some sort of spooky encounter, and ghost hunting TV shows are far more popular than IRL". Where oWoD and CofD is more about the spooky stuff being in the background, here there is a fairly prominent shift to the culture because of it. You still get people who don't believe and rationalise stuff away but it's less common than IRL. There are other non-accursed supernaturals living in the world too, sometimes openly. There are also a slew of realms beyond Earth's reality collectively known as "the Outside" that covers all your classics; paradises, underworlds, eldritch dreamscapes, and so on. Earth is encroaching into the Outside and creating "liminalities" that cover all your strange locations (and sometimes people) like haunted houses, that spot in the woods people vanish in, or that industrial hellscape that seems to pen you in and try to keep you trapped. Where the Outside encroaches on Earth you get "Battlegrounds" that are much more hostile and dangerous, but much harder to just stumble into. There are also things called Shattered Spaces that intelligent liminalities with their own will and desires, who are represented with stat templates. Plus weirder things like whole eras of frozen time called Epochs.Small bit of pedantry but there aren't any gamelines here, it's a monster mash from the jump, but I'll do a splat's next.

Callidia's self interest is gaining clout with the Abbey to be officially promoted from Novitiate and restore a modicum of relationship between the Sororitas and =][=, even if its only with her Lord Inquisitor.Hopefully figuring out this issue and saving the Abbey also adds to her and the crackolyte's resume to get promoted within the Inquisition too.Comment too long. This is sort of a reflection of that. Airbending is spiritually empowered by not having strong attachments to the material world, and migration is one thing that they developed to facilitate that.
