What do you eat while you play?

I feel like there's levels to this business.

Anything from nothing to whatever happens to by lying around.

Chips/pretzels/candy/soda
>Level 3
Pizza/Chinese/Fastfood, baked goods
>Level 4
Homecooked meal or quality take out, fresh fruit/vegetables, cake/pie/ice cream, freshly baked cookies
>Level 5
Elaborate multi-course meal, charcuterie, assembled drinks
>Level 6
Chex Mix, Vanilla Coke

Based. Carrots and hummus are a top tier snack. Throw some sweet hot sauce like sriracha on there it's like veggie crack.
>>
Most of the time we don't eat. Sometimes I chew gum when I'm not the GM.
The rare occasions we do have something, it's stuff like cookies, chips, peanuts, soda, and beer.
If we decide to get pizza or a burger it's always after the session.
>>
I don't eat while playing games. At most I'll bring a water bottle if I'm going to be there for a while.

Indeed. There is quite literally no excuse for being fat outside of some sort of mental disorder that causes you to keep shoveling food down your gullet regardless of how full your stomach is.
>>
>>96603709
>If we decide to get pizza or a burger it's always after the session.
Like, when the burger joint opens in the morning? I refuse to believe anyone can have a proper game session that ends before 2am at the earliest.

I like any food that doesn't make you feel all greasy skinned. There's nothing worse than having to sit for hours with greasy skin from chips and pop and fatty take out food.

What do you think could be THE sport in a scifi space game?

I believe that spacefaring civilizations should have their futuristic equivalent of soccer, a sport spread everywhere that can be played in a small scale among kids as much as absurdly huge events with tons of money exchanging hands. It should be in zero-g to make it feel space-y and it should be complex to the point people in the outside don't get what's going on.

But I don't really have a picture of what it could be like. I've toyed with having sport stars at a station or a big match interupting time sensitive discussions, but I always fear players actually wanting to join in even though that'd be great.

Whatever system is fine, I'm interested even if it's not gonna be something I could insert 1 to 1. Purely conceptual ideas are fine too.

Anon, I can't help but feel that you'd just end up with Blurnsball from Futurama if you aimlessly make up a new sport.

https://youtu.be/9GGCUTkao5k?si=7c0osGP3067S2gdN

If you're in a scifi setting, you'd expect lots of sports to be popular and be fairly similar to what we have today. I'd say the exception is if the scifi setting has some special technology or quirk that needs to be demonstrated. The mass effect fields from... Mass Effect for example have zero G / biotic sports mentioned. If I was in a scifi where brain/computer interfaces were a big focus for example I'd probably have something where you could plug-in your brain to control machine combatants.
>>
>>96589850
I read a novel recently that was essentially about zero G martial arts. It wasn't framed as a sports story but probably would have been less ridiculous if it was.
>>
Cobra had Rugball. It was a mix of baseball and rugby played with an iron ball and killing was not only allowed but recommended. I don't recall it making too much sense, but looking for a pic I saw that there are rugball toys so it must have been popular.

Because they take very different skillets and design to get right. A large overly detailed imposing character as your resume isn't gonna make any napoleonic soldiers you make any better.
Might actually make them worse because people usually do units of 24 to 36 of the blighters. It's why they don't even like to do skirmish action poses very much either.
>>
>>96603120
Yeah, that's a genuine issue with AoS. Not just monsters and gods but regular individuals are ridiculously large compared to the average infantry if they're a hero.
The leader of men, Tahlia, is a regular human the size of an Ogre. The rest of the human range is typical 28mm with the other heroes being a head taller or so but it's all ridiculous
AoS is a board game like Godtear or something at this point, abstraction trumps simulation
>>
>>96603438
>Big monsters are fine, but that doesn't mean bigger = always better, which the GW studio seems to not understand

The issue I see with your critique/argument is that your reasoning well supports the idea more detail/size isn't inherently positive, but that doesn't go far to define why the specific sizes/levels of detail are better or why GW's sizes and amount details aren't good.

I haven't seen that undead dragon in person, so yeah, I can't give a 100% assessment. But regarding posing and directionality, here's an example of a big gaming model done right. It's from Reaper miniatures (late 90's? early 2000's?), and made of METAL. The wingtips are nearly 12 inches from the base. It was probably intended as more of a display piece than a game model, but it still works on a game table, in spite of being over-sized, because the footprint is still relatively small. And the pose still looks natural. The facing is also immediately conveyed, and it doesn't come with a gratuitous scenic base.

If there's room for improvement, maybe the tail could also be raised more, but that's a minor point, and might have made assembly even more difficult. I'd have also given it shorter limbs, like what Warhammer did with its serpentine metal dragons, but that's more general style/mythological preferences.

Posting [pic] because Citadel's Middle-Hammer metal dragons were basically perfect as game pieces: Imposing, clearly aggressive, but still compact and with clear indication of direction. The best they've ever done. Also, serpentine dragons > lizard-cat bodybuilder dragons.

(also: I'm not saying with this, or the previous post, that gaming miniatures *need* to have a static pose with mono-directional facing, but that that's a good baseline standard)

>>96603487
>I wonder if there's any examples of a model update making the model smaller than before? Reverse scale creep if you sill.
Not that I'm aware of, but I'm a big advocate of wargaming using ACTUAL scales (like 1/100, 1/56, etc) instead of bullshit like "28mm."

As well as plastic, the innernet creates an incentive for scale creep, since most people's first impression of a model is an enlarged image on a computer screen. Bigger model = more room for extra details and fancier paintwork, so people will think [model A, from company 'blue'] is "better" than [model B, from company 'yellow'], because they're assuming they're the same size. But in-person, [model A] is like twice as large.

>>96603646
I already addressed the issue of miniatures games operating with limited table space. "28mm scale" (see above) is already too large to the point where extreme abstractions need to be made (if the game was to-scale, archers would have ranges measured in feet or meters, not inches). This would be kind of ridiculous, so some compromise is okay, because miniatures wargaming isn't just about tactics and simulation, it's also about visual spectacle, and models around 30mm/human are close to as small as you can get while still having things like recognizable faces with painted eyes, etc.

You still need to maintain some suspension of disbelief, however, and needless 'embiggening' starts making the dimensional abstractions more glaring.

1e has thaumaturgy?
>>
>>96603363
huh so it does
also has training times for mortals (double of exalts)
so rating x weeks x 2 for abilities with a trainer, or x 4 without trainer for example
>>
>>96603252
Tell me more about 1e Thaumaturgy. How does it look compared to its successor editions?
>>
>>96603528
It's very versatile, bind demons, enchant gear, make buff potions. You could build a mortal who could give a non-optimized dawn a dangerous fight, and hold their own against younger dragon-blooded (at the cost of a lot of downtime and investment, and remember that 1st edition dragon blooded didn't yet suffer from the "not a real exalt" syndrome they contracted later). You could do a lot of handy non-combat stuff as well.
It was very XP intensive and suboptimal for actual exalts to get into.
2nd edition is similar, IIRC, but the celestials have run out much further ahead of everyone else generally and it didn't keep up.
3rd edition's thaumaturgy is spit in the face of the setting the way a lot of 3rd edition is.
>>
>>96603363
Thaumaturgy technically not being a thing, is only from 3e onwards.

>This book also details a number of normal ways your humanity score goes back up; but nobody posts that chart
Humanity Gain makes a lot more sense compared to Humanity Loss, most of the latter being nonsensical because what >>96603345 already mentioned
>>
Rockerboy who is a fujo fanfic writer.
>>
>>96603555
If you use them both together a number of actions lose Humanity Costs entirely or net to positive:

For example, lets say that 'murderous ideation' means 'planning a cold blooded killing'. Then if you plan to kill a gangster who is poised to kill the owner of a bodega you would take a 1d6 hit for planning a murder, but then you'd gain 2d6 from saving their life.

For another example, you torture an enemy to get the combination from their safe to steal-back something important from them or halt their plans. You would take 1d6 for torturing them, but you'd gain 1d6 back from defeating someone.

The general jist is that justified or moralized violence can keep you entirely level; while wanton or cruel acts will see you spiral. Principled action and trying to maintain an ethical code will generally recover you HL in the long term.

Finally with the HQ rules and lifestyle rules for certain levels of accommodation you're netting some HL from there as well. The average edgerunner then can indulge in limited torture (especially when 'the ends justify the means) and violence, having become acclimated to threats of being killed and killing. What shakes them then has to be substantially dehumanizing, gruesome or soulcrushing; and generally only really grody stuff will cause more than a 1d6 hit.

Broadly while some tweaks may make sense, I think these charts are very good; with even murder-hobo character not swinging wildly in humanity so long as they're being cruel for sensible motivations. The only characters that will crater immediately are the unnecessarily and unrealistically cruel.
>>
Is it just me or locate/remote and control/remote in CP2020 are busted? It's not particularly hard to create a strength 10 controller program (difficulty 20 to create, perfectly doable) which can then auto succeed every time. I know you have to make a different program for each type of object you want to control but the weight of a strength 10 controller is just 2 MU so you can have more than one, and honestly just one to control cars and maybe one for electronic doors should be more than enough.
I assume that you can only hijack cyberized cars and I assume those should be relatively rare, but none of that's written as far as I know. The example in the corebook makes it sound like you can hack and take over anything.

I have no idea whether this particular leak is credible or not, but a refreshed LotD makes sense. I'm glad that Big Iron becoming a meme has brought that album back to the public consciousness but I feel like I'm the only person under the age of 60 who unironically loves that genre of music.

It's somewhat related, but I like the idea of "half-breeds"/hybrids making fashion choices that reflect some physical aspect(s) of one of their parents. As an example, a hood, headpiece, or neck covering that imitates the hood of a cobra, the decorative scale mail-like jewelry to imitate scale patterns on a lizard, or stylized garments with excess fabric around the arms (Japs have something close to what I'm thinking about. I think it's called a haori) to imitate the wings of bird/harpy.

Which dynamic is better?
>High elves are a race of prudes while dark elves are a race of exhibitionists
>The high and dark elves are both races of exhibitionists but high elves will deny it while dark elves will admit it
