any good sources for fantasy/medieval heads? up to about year 1600 or so? in plastic or in STL is fine.I've come into a couple dozen Free Company Militia bodies but they have neither arms nor torsos. All my frostgrave/oathmark kits have fine arms but the heads are all helmeted which doesn't fit the vibe. they are all also just a bit small when compared to the GW heads.
Dominions. I know its already pretty much a wargame but I'd love to get my hands on all the different type of miniatures that would be produced from such a game.

As a Race fan I thought Roll was one of the most disappointing games I'd ever played, saying it's better than Splendor is nutty
>>97832942I agreee it was rather disappointing, but it's better than splendor for sureThat said, I'd still play splendor over it just for how quick it is set up and played. Not that roll requires all that much, but it sure is fiddlier. I've also learned through Roll that rolling small dice is somehow nowhere near as statisfying as rolling standard ones. I wonder where in the dice size chart the curve goes down again
>>97828601>>97830420Already grabbed myself a copy. I'm a sucker for theme and cyberpunk/cyberpunk-adjacent material. The syndicates as suits that alter the behavior of the shared pool also seemed really neat to me.Also off topic but relevant, I've been disappointedly watching Marathon's questionable launch success. Its got a similar-ish aesthetic, and a habit of mine is to try and capture more transient experiences in amber. Boardgames strike me as great medium for that given I can still be playing them in a decade or two if I look after them.At least I get a dose of cyberpunkish material to keep in amber I guess, to compensate for Marathon's likely transience./end of unsolicited monologue

>>97829030>general opinionIt enthused me enough to get back into the game re-learn the painstaking, agonisingly asinine mechanics, did enough right I was profoundly relieved from the impression Essence gave me of where they were taking them, and has enough lacking that there's just a little bittersweet aftertaste to it all. But god, in my entirely subjective and profoundly biased opinion it is by far the best thing 3e has ever put out both in terms of lore and mechanics.>whether they're above or below parIf I had to sum up 3e Infernals in a nutshell (based on my own kinda flawed understanding of combat resolution), it's that they take Abilities to extremes that often give them unconventional edges at the cost of absolute mechanical supremacy that only rarely becomes a detriment. Brawl is the best illustration of this imo: If you look at Solar Brawl you get to do shit like stick people with persistent onslaught penalties, yo-yo people you punch into the horizon and just reset your rounds of control on demand. Infernal Brawl is NOT that slick, but it DOES do things Solar Brawl can't like give you scenelong permanent bonuses in exchange for penalising you stopping the fight early, sic grappling gambits out to short range, give you an Brawl-compatible heavy weapon that can inflict disease with a bite (which is...debatably useful given how long interval takes and there being no way to intensify syndromes, the best use case I can think of is sticking someone with Jigsaw Puzzle for a free Crippling effect mid-fight) and throw people hard enough to inflict fall damage. It also has what to my knowledge is the FIRST Solaroid Charm that flat out inflicts uncountable damage if it hits with enough successes, unless you count Heart-Eating Fist. Punching stuff falls far short of Solar and even Abyssal equivalents simply due to lacking anything like Fivefold Fury Onslaught or Rampage-Berserker Attack but it doesn't matter because the wrassling is that fucking sweet. 1/?
>>97829030As for the other abilities-Stealth, Thrown, Linguistics and Athletics are legitimately the best I've seen in any splat so far. Presence, Socialise and Lore too although those are kind of cheating because Presence has VEE (now with an upgrade to affect entire nations!), Socialise has the replacement for Black Mirror Shintai, and Lore has Mind-Hand Manipulation/Principle-Invoking Onslaught (now with Agg damage!) which continues the trend of Infernals just cheating in compensation for falling short in pure arete.>loreI'm of two minds about the lore in a lot of ways. It's much better than what I feared it would be based on the devs describing it/Essence and Pillars, but I also miss the storytelling from previous editions, and Infernals being too new to write anything meaningful about their impact on the setting feels like a copout. I'm glad it's not the Green Solars angle from the 3e Infernals preview, but I also wish it did more to stand out and make it's own identity other than "revenge" and "not that". Hell is as gritty as 3e is willing to be but still more sanitised than Exalted should be somehow; Ipithymia continues the trend of baffling me with how the effort to whitewash certain characters is going, though closer to my grudgingly positive takeaway from Heron than my complete rejection of 3e Lover. Also I don't like how they made Ligier a more blatant Azhrarn expy. Plus his writeup feels a little underwhelming for what he is in terms. It's strong, don't get me wrong, it just feels weird the Green Sun does more sword/spear stuff than actual sun stuff. And I'm still waiting for the devs to reconcile the humanoid 3CD statblocks with their celestial forms.2/3
>>97829030>build-your-own formLooking at how Blasphemy keyworded Charms work and how the preview described build-a-shintais, it's clear that Keys were definitely meant to be more than what they currently are (organisational shorthand). I definitely prefer the ExWoD approach of permanently adding to shintais rather than just letting you activate certain Charms at the same time, and the "avatar of a Yozi" thing sounds like a unique addon I would've liked to see incorporated somehow. As with many, many things in 3e it really does feel like they threw out the baby with the bathwater and called it a day. Still, there's a surprising amount of fun to be had once you accept Devil-Bodies are less strong in and of themselves and more meant as a sort of chassis for your other Charms. Also not amused by how they made a lot of the inner world-using Charms kinda undertuned, although the fact that you CAN bring things out you made with your own effort low key solves this. Just Introduce a Fact in there that enhances your Crafting (or sorcery, or VEE, or whatever), and you'll be mass producing Karvara in no time.

I never realized how many players suffer from aphantasia and insist on using miniatures. Are you one of them, or do you embrace the unmatchable graphics of theater of the mind?
>>97831518Theater of the mind? More like theater of the poor
>97831518>he cannot imagine a thread where he gets genuine interaction related to a topic instead of the cheapest bait imaginableJust imagine being this much of a faggot.
This has nothing to do with imagination and has more to do with people's ability to multi task. After 3 or four different factors the average person's brain can't accurately account for them. Keeping room dimensions, npc positions, number of npcs, distance/range, turn order, player positions, hazards and obstacles (im additiona to keeping track of the rules and paying attention to the GM and other players) in perfect clarity is something the majority of people won't be able to do. Infact most people will likely forget half of the details they are trying to keep track of in their brain unless directly reminded of them.
>>97832857It is not weaseling around or cheating to state that the following is not a claim of you failing to provide an alternative to theater of the mind:>>97832572>What did you expect from bringing it up explicitly as part of a highly emotionally charged railing against theater-of-the-mind with no alternative purpose offered?Again, "alternative purpose". What the fuck do you think the word "purpose" means in this sentence? Do you need a refresher on syntax and the thing charted out or something?
>>97831518First off, 0/10 troll thread, I'm responding out of boredom more than anything else. With that out of the way, let me state that yes, I can picture things in my mind quite well, but that doesn't mean it isn't useful to have a tactical board and various pieces on that board to determine where stuff is in relation to one another. Plenty of people who can picture stuff in their heads can still lose track of something as complex as a combat encounter if they're trying to play out said encounter relying solely on their own mind to keep track of where characters and such are with no real visual aids.

>>97831928I think it works fairly well.
I think I already know the answer to this question, but I just want to verify:In a hypothetical scenario where, say, a chromatic dragon were to have an item in their hoard that they, genuinely, had no idea what it was or what it did; this would not matter in the slightest. As far as that dragon is concerned, that thing is it’s… whatever it is… and it will fight tooth and nail to keep it.Sound about right?
>>97832934Depends on the Dragon. A red dragon might fight you simply because it belongs to him and you dared to take it. A green would probe the party to find out who it belongs to and why they want it so badly, if it didn’t already know from its animal spies, negotiations have begun. A white dragon might try to lure the party over to the item and to eat one of them. A blue could try to recruit the party in exchange for the item, considering daring adventurers a greater treasure. A black dragon would probably pretend to be sympathetic to the party and then destroy the item to see them suffer.
>>97832934Probably. Some of them like Green or Blue dragons might hypothetically be open to a trade, but they're also probably going to assume that if there are people seeking it out specifically enough to request it, then it must be more valuable than any of their other treasure, and so they'll likely charge accordingly. Even then you need to be dangerous enough that the dragon doesn't just decide it'd be easier to kill you and keep both the item and whatever you brought as a bribe.
Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.
>>97810889the trick is to avoid games with enforced monopolies. if they're just using their rules as a way to get you to buy the official minis, you are going to have a shitty time. fortunately that only describes like 20% of the hobby. it's the most visible 20% because they advertise and shill like crazy, but it's not all there is. once you get out of that bubble playing minis games becomes very affordable. most skirmish games can be played under $40 per army. some shit like gaslands or brikwars can be played for almost nothing.

There are things far beyond human ken which govern a system to which human beings are totally subject, and there is no notion whatsoever of rebellion against that order being advisable or even possible.Essentially Ip Man would see some Shoggoth shit going on and say "Hmm Qu Shing Tao Lai Bing Bong Quan demon, mostt unauspicious, we should leave and rearrange tthe furniture to ward it away" and then walk off screen and get into a fistfight with the entire Japanese Navy or something.
