Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment (TTRPGs, videogames, comics, animation, even miniature wargames). How comes it remains a relatively rare style to find in board games, an industry that operates almost entirely in the form of independent creators and small studios? How comes it still carries associations of being an art-style of games "for kids"?

It was so strange when pic related came out seeing people "warning" others that even tho "it looks like a game for kids, it's actually quite difficult and heavy".

It also has similarities to Star Wars, and when trying to explain Gunpla, I’ve used the example that a Japanese Gundam Gan building a Gundam model set is culturally similar to an American building a Lego Star Wars set.

Last Wish is better than Anomalisa. It is like compare Her or Lost in Translation to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl or Edge of Tomorrow.

"Slop" implies something numerous and cheap from the current era, and the modernist movement stopped over half a century ago. You are not well versed in art history; deliberately ignorant.
Also I was right, you are not a traditional painter. You being related to one does not validate your opinion, akin to how my opinion on literature is not validated by my grandfather being an author.

This is true, a charcoal soap bar can clean any oil, acrylic, lacquer, enamel

This doesn't sound right, do you have a video? Lacquer paint should not be soluble in soapy water.

Same goes for oil paint. I used to use master brush cleaner, but it’s gotten quite expensive here, so I remembered I had bought some cheap charcoal soap bars in japan. It clean paints way better than normal soap for some reason idk

No idea why the link missed >>97828230 but I guess that also answers my follow-up question about what it would take to make the inner world absolutely real and stop fucking around with the functionally useless Charm that only lets you bring out what are probably trivial people/things unless you worked on them directly with Craft/sorcery/Constructive Convergence of Principles/VEE and the like while within the realm.

...which really isn't that big a restriction, now that I think about it.
>>
>>97828196
It depends on how much you limit it. It could be Celestial 2, but if you're really trying to get powerful then just nut up and accept Solar workings. It's not like they're hard, just xp intensive.
>>
>>97828639
Nutting up is more than fair in my book, especially with all the Infernal sorcery-boosting Charms just sitting there.
>>
Hi /exg/, I haven't been around since Lunars were released, and I don't play 3e anymore. But I saw that the 3e Infernals manuscript came out recently and was curious about the general opinion of it here? Sorry if this is a loaded question for whatever reason. Long-time Infernal player here, so I was always curious about how 3e would handle them whilst being certain I'd be dead or the line would be cancelled before they ever released. I've been glancing at the manuscript for the past few days, but I haven't formed a definite opinion yet; 3e mechanics leaving my brain has also hampered my ability to process whether they're above or below par, or just right (for whatever that might mean for you).

Personally, I have to say I generally prefer their lore to what we had before. It's pretty much how my group ran them anyway. I like how soul hierarchy is part of the base set rather than a pie-in-the-sky E6-E10 progression that was practically meaningless in most real games; I'm not a fan of Shintai having their own subtree *but* I generally prefer the build-your-own form approach. I think ExWod handled the inner world and shintai more elegantly, but that's a different topic.

Oh, and finally having a published writeup for Ligier is surreal. There being no actual Third Circle stat blocks has been like a festering wound for me since the 1e days. Any other cool things that've happened in the past few releases?
>>
>>97829030
Due to being the last one released, they're the best splat mechanically by a mile, same as 2e. But unlike 2e there's be no Ink Monkey's style errata so they get to just be the best forever

That's an interesting comparison. Did the ottomans larp as the romans?
The main idea I had is that my Moff's trying to make an idealised version of the Empire in her little fiefdom and larps really really hard for it.
>>
>>97828701
>Did the ottomans larp as the romans?
No. They saw conquering Constantinople as their holy goal, but once they got it they did not refer to themselves as inheritors of its (Roman) power, and regarded themselves as seperate from 'the Latins' (we would, ironically, call 'the Latins' Greeks today)
The state referred to itself officially as 'Sublime Ottoman State', 'Sublime State' and (later) 'Ottoman State', never as Roman, Latin etc.
They did not use Roman/Byzantine heraldry, though they largely kept the names of places the same (they only changed the name of Constantinople to Istanbul in the 19th century)
The one thing they did keep for a while were the coins, but that was probably a function of islamic law more or less outlawing banking.
>>
>>97828871
The Ottoman Sultan did adopt "Kaiser i Rum" (Emperor of Rome) as one of his titles, but they didn't really emphasize it.
>>
>>97826079
I just let them install the tank into the ship and when they land we handwave refilling it as part of their fuel costs
>>
>>97828915
>Kaiser i Rum
Well yes, but Rum was already the name of
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultanate_of_Rum
the name traces back to 'Roman', of course, through two or so other languages. These were the predecessors, who were shattered by the mongol conquest. They had quite good trade relations with the Europeans.
And yes, 'Kaiseri' is obviously 'Caesar', surprisingly close to german 'Kaiser'.

And they later referred to themselves as 'Osmanlı İmparatorluğu' literally 'Osman Empire' when tehy had achieved dominance over most of Araby, North Africa and Egypt.
The root there is also clearly 'Imperator'.
But this is still not really larping as Rome, or any continuation of Rome.

The one who did do that, even though it absoolutely was not a continuation, was Charlemagne.
He clearly read up on what history he could get a hold of, and used the image of a new 'Roman' Emperor.

M8, the loss of khala reduced the protoss and removed one of their most unique cultural elements. The protoss by the end of Legacy of the Void are basically just reskinned terrans in terms of the society they are running with the loss of both tribal distinctions, castes and the khala. Plus the cut nervecords look like shit.
>>
>>97828825
I still don't understand how it makes any sense, considering that newborn protoss WILL have their nerve cords at full length, there are still protoss with full length nerve cords (Tal'Darim, for instance), and the Khala was essentially just a spiritual connection hub for them. The ones that had to cut their connection just feel isolated since they can't share their thoughts and emotions with others, but they just go back to their pre-khala days / aeon of strife times. They can just re-establish the Khala now that the amon abortion story is wrapped up.
>>
>>97829032
The entire story of Legacy of the Void as well as Starcraft 2 as a whole is extremely poorly though out. Everything about Amon is so hacky and retarded for example. Muh void, the xel naga reproduction cycle not to mention the way Kerrigan ascends, it's all so fucking stupid. Storywise I'd happily throw everything past Broodwar into the trash. It is all garbage after all.

I have found most systems for armor and defense unsatisfying.
I find pure damage negation doesn't represent that armor doesn't just reflect but also reduces a lot of damage too, a hammer to the helmet won't just plink off its going to have some significant concussive effect, if less than against an unhelmeted head. But on the other end, armor as pure static damage reduction often doesn't illustrate the other end, that many attacks SHOULD simply be negated, a knife thrown at a breastplate won't just deal less damage, it will ping off harmlessly.

And Barbarians of Lemuria, Specifically the Mythic version, I believe addresses both those concerns for me.

This is done by a. health and damage being kept rather conservative and relatively equal, not becoming exponential as levels go up and b. armor being a die you roll for damage reduction rather than a static number. The range of damage that armor protects just so happens to align with the damage most weapons can do. damage being 1-6 + strength and armor protecting 0-5 damage. meaning that a low roll on most attacks and a high roll on most armor saves will have the armor totally negate attacks, while a high attack roll and a low armor roll will totally bypass armor, and a medium attack roll and a medium armor roll will deal reduced damage.

This is all modified by the fact that 2 handed weapons you roll 2d6 and pick the highest damage, medium weapons you roll straight 1d6 and light weapons you roll 2d6 pick the lowest. And armor ranged from light reducing d6-3 damage (0-3 damage), medium reducing d6-2 damage (0-4 damage), and heavy reducing d6-1 damage (0-5 damage). This means a dagger has the potential to deal as much damage as a great axe if situation permits (like dagger to the eye slit), but is less likely too, and that light armor could fully protect you from a glancing blow like heavy armor, but is also less likely too.

My cheap-ass homebrew does it like this:
>Reduction of various attack types depending on type
>Layering to combine reduction bonuses
>Special, but harder, attacks to bypass top layer (knife to weakspot)
>Attacks which make it through deal a different sort of damage than an attack on an unarmored foe would deal (instead of health I have pain and exhaustion. Attacks on armour are largely converted to exhaustion)

What worldvuilding setting?

Honestly Shadowrun's was fine. Can reduce or negate attacks, or it determined how easy it was to reduce or negate an attack back before SR4.

I don't want to roll five to know what a hit does to some guy inside the armor.
