It's not a matter of you "allowing" me or not, I have no position here really. I'm discussing about building voltron for B2 where you can't kill regularly before turn 8 if we follow bracket guidelines. It says it right there, I have no "mental block". Why is "Don't overprepare" such common advise given to DMs? sometimes it seems like people are allergic to putting effort into building adventures. Railroading typically happens when a DM is underprepared for their sessions.

>>97844772
None of these are railroading unless you force the players to pick one, or if they voluntarily pick one but you invalidate their decision and force them to pick a different one. Or if they pick one, and interact with it, but you only let them interact with it in a particular way you had in mind.

>I dn't understand the fascination with "better looking skeletons".
Put a skeleton warrior next to a tomb guard. That's your answer. Stop playing dumb.
>>
>>97844464
From a quick view it looks like 2 dwarf halves From BfSP and a handful of the quarrelers/thunderers dwarfs.
You seem to be missing one of 2 cannons (including crew), the slayers and one of the Thanes.

The thunderers/quarrelers came in a box of 16 and I only see 3/4.

This looks like a very typical starting army for many a dwarf players during 7th edition.

The starter set was so popular that it absolutely flooded the secondary markets for almost a decade, and it was available for obscenely cheap . I remember ebay auctions where you'd see people buy the 10 thunderers for like $1.50 or $2 for the cannon and crew.

You couldn't find a dwarf army without that Thane until the bitter end of the game.

People always look down upon these sculpts but I really like them. Definitely better than the plastic ones sold alongside them.
During 7th ed, I had a 25 strong unit of these warriors I'd deploy in almost every game. it ended up surviving the whole edition. So when 8th came around I decided that they had become long enough to be promoted to longbeard. Painted over their beards in grey and white, gave their shields a new colour scheme and used them as longbeards.

Main weakness DoW have in 6th ed is the lack of magical items (you only get the vanilla ones everyone can use) and more army specific rules.

Strengths are the unit variety, since you have the vanilla army list, regiments of renown and a good chunk of ogre kingdom units.
>>
>>97843514

The paymaster would try and see if they can bribe any of the enemies units to switch sides, while the mercenary captain will consider this a time for chivalric deeds worthy of songs (sure to impress damsels far and wide).

No, that isn't how they work.
>>
>>97844627
Over the last few years, they have significantly improved context memory, but there's still a fatal flaw in all LLMs where the longer a conversation goes, the more it has to re-read the entire thing before generating a reply, which clogs up its context, which makes it incoherent all over again.

Then a lot of them got worse because they turned on a feature where it tries to keep your entire conversation history, every chat, every question, in active memory at all times so it can "personalize" outputs to your profile, meaning it is overflowing its context memory and token limits even faster for even worse outputs. Even if you turn that feature off, it doesn't seem to fix the problem at all.
>>
>>97843503
The "entertainment purposes" line is genuinely hysterical in context. Every business rushed to inject AI into everything, even demanding employees use it, and then Microsoft sneaks in a little clause in their fine print that says
>you seriously should not use this shit for anything important, or any business, or anything you genuinely care about or intended to seriously act on.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.

The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

A jak n daxter skirmish game, maybe small wargame size.
Don't include all the main characters, I'm not looking for a dark-mode jak hero that costs 1/4th of an army.
I just think lurkers, metal heads, crimson guard, rebels, osselots (I don't know how to spell that), and even stuff from the first game like the plant zone enemies or mine guys would make for awesome minis. Plus different types of eco would make for cool resources, VP, or mechanics.
Sadly naughtydog was taken over by male feminists like Next Guymann that push out good woman writers.

space or sword weirdos, depending on preference for fantasy or scifi
they are very simple but very good with enough customization that's also easy to expand yourself once you get the hang of the game

something a bit more complex would be Fantastic Scuffles or Brutality Skirmish. both offer more customization than weirdos, but they are more fantasy themed

Have there been any TTRPG systems in the past five years that have jumped to the top of your favorites? Anything that has replaced what you've been playing? This hobby just seems so stale with people talking about the same old systems, Dungeons and Dragons(Any edition), Pathfinder, blah blah blah that it's hard to tell when new blood actually enters the scene.

I mean, does a 2nd edition count? Star Trek Adventures came out in 2017, but I didn't ever check it out until 2024, when the 2nd edition somehow caught my eye. It's absolutely wonderful. I know all the fans are butthurt because it's a "buy new books for a game that isn't that much different." But I wasn't already invested in 1st edition, so it didn't matter to me. Just meant a backlog of other stuff I could go through as I awaited new things.

I think it's really wonderful. The way the push/pull momentum/threat mechanics work, the episodic adventure setup, the social combat that's genuinely engaging... The rules impress the hell outa me and I think it's a wonderful game.
>>
L5R 5th edition is our go to at the moment, not counting old system we go back to every now and then. It's the right spot of being both simple to learn and with enough nuance that it rewards knowing what you are doing, plus it engages players and encourages them to get involved because they can use their rolls to get an edge or move things forward.
We have a new player that just started out and things went very smoothly.
>>
>>97843733
>Have there been any TTRPG systems in the past five years that have jumped to the top of your favorites?
Not really.
There is no benefit in chasing obscure stuff unless it's solo because I am not going to convince anyone I know to play it.
Meanwhile with new (to me) solo games tend to be something I play once or twice but never make a regular part of my standard solo sessions.

It's not about extreme dimorphism, it's about retarded dimorphism where something often not even a mammal or hominid looks very similar to specifically a human woman. Note, how even in your image the female seal still looks like a seal and not an entirely different type of animal.

I literally don't understand the eavy metal workflow. it's like it's designed intentionally to make things more difficult than they need to be.
>>
>>97845608
You know as I have gathered experience when it comes to minipainting I've come to appreciate it.
Sure the
basecoat -> wash -> restore basecoat
workflow never made any sense to me but I've come to appreciate the usage of washes to mimic occlusion shadows

If i were to try and 'optimize' it I would
> prime in white
> washes first
> work from there into the highlights
>>
>>97845636
something as simple as "only put the wash where you want it to be darker" would be a huge increase in convenience.
>>
I hate painting.
Thank you.
>>
>>97845680
I mean, sure, but its way more time consuming than just slapping the thing in the whole area.

Lets imagine a face
You can
>carefully add the wash around the eyes, under the nose, mouth, maybe a bit under the cheekbones, wherever the hairline/helmet touches the face, etc
or
>slap the wash in the general area and allow for the wash to deposit into the recesses by itself, removing the excess where you dont want it to be too dark

Idk anon for me the choice is clear

>4d8 healing is reasonable at level 1
>>
>>97845473
It's not reasonable for a first-level spell to heal 18 damage on average. Almost no one at first level has 18 health, except a dwarf barb with the tough origin feat and 16 con. So you're almost always fully healing two targets from close to zero to full.

The spell outpaces hp growth for almost every class, taking them from zero to full, and it's better than any other healing option. Why should a first-level spell do so much?

And none of this has no bearing on the damage version of the spell.

>2d8+2d8 per spell level
3d6+2d6 per level

would still be really strong as a second-level spell, but at first level it's still retarded, so here are some options

>5ft wide, 30ft long line originating from you, but not including you. Dice are split between creatures on this line
>choose a point within 30ft. dice are split between creatures in 5ft radius is affected other than you.
>a 10ft emanation centered on you, Dice are split between creatures in the emnation, other than you

Yeah, it’s about respecting others. This reminds me of how C. S. Lewis said that a truly humble person is not some greasy, smarmy person who is always telling you that he is nobody, but a smart, intelligent person who was very interested in what you had to say to him. I suppose this is how you remain good as a god jumper, stay humble and treat others with respect.

>your average guardsman has armor that is probably impervious to standard small arms fire
>massive advantage in firepower with their lasguns
Neither of these is remotely true. Again, a lasgun is functionally equivalent to a 1911, and their body armour protects them from 1 in 6 such shots. Granted there's a lot of abstraction going on there, but guard kit is not drastically more effective than what we have today.
