>>97206258Anon, please, try to take a moment to think. Havesh dreaming about the Usurpation means that Havesh has a memory from the end of his last life. Do you have some reason to assume that all Solars retain their last memory, or that all past life memories are from the same time period? If you do, what is that reason? Because I'm pretty sure that past life memories are from across the past lives, with some of them being from the end of the last life because, you know, that's also a part of the past lives, and others from different points in time. If those memories were skewed towards the end of the last life, we should see more Solars remembering the Usurpation.
>>97206147>I think the reason Bronze is wrong is not due to not wanting to risk all of Creation on a longshot but due to how they've handled things after the Usurpation. It feels like they just gave up and went "eh, good enough" at some point instead of trying to make things as good as they could possibly be.I think that's more of a Yu Shan / Celestial Bureaucracy thing than it is a Sidereal thing. The Sidereals are part of this whole ecosystem and culture that's actually doing just fine as far as standard of living goes, and have passed on ruling over Creation in favor of handing that responsibility to the Dragonblooded. The maintenance of Creation is their job, just like everybody else in the Celestial Bureaucracy, but raising the standard of living and making things in Creation as good as they could be isn't something they're duty-bound to pursue any more than it is their responsibility to ensure the Underworld is a good place for ghosts to experience their afterlives.
>>97206292Oh, sure, I understand why Bronze thinks the way it does, but I think it's still definitely the case that they sort of started something and then left it for others to finish, and I think that there's a clear moral failing there even if Sidereals aren't duty-bound to make Creation better.
>>97206301The Usurpation is the moment the Sidereals gave up on trying to make Creation better and devoted themselves only towards keeping Creation from getting worse (they couldn't do that, either).

This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want. This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.
Want to contribute to the thread but don't know where to start? Use this table.>1. Make a spell>2. Make a monster>3. Make a dungeon special>4. Make a wilderness location>5. Make an urban set piece>6. Make a magic item>7. Make a class, race, or race-as-class>8. Make a 4-10 room lair.>9. Make a trap>10. Roll 2D10 and combine
Why do you need yet another general instead of just making a 1e/2e themed thread? The OP image is cool at least.
>>97206318Whats your favorite megadungeon, anons? Mine so far has been gunderholfen.I really love the gimmicks of extradimensional levels, it helps break up the cramped, underground feeling a megadungeon usually has. Im also a big fan of the giant hole thats a centre piece of several floors
The old meme is that /tg is the board of fantasy eugenics, but that's about races. Which classes are the most attractive and why?I 100% consider warlocks the least attractive. Eldritch blast is cool, and it's true that extradimensional fyne shawties do be having horrific alien curves of dark and sultry implications in harrowing dimensions where other girls don't even have harrowing dimensions, but there's nothing less attractive than a girl who very likely would sell one of your children. Absolutely no way I'd date a warlock.
>>97204938You only think that because a big titty beguiler has enchanted you anon-kun.
>>97204938>gaslight: the classI would rank them only slightly higher than warlocks. If I'm not completely mistaken the entire class is about roofie-ing your judgement and deluding you into obeying the beguiler's commands. Any hypothetical girlfriend will already be a woman and have ass and titty, a beguiler is just double woman, but without actually getting two women. I would massively disagree on beguilers being hot.
>>97204609Sorcerers maybe? High charisma and the chance for your kids to inherit magic. There might be some character flaws from growing up with everything handed to them on a silver platter because of their genetics but that's no different from any girl who's a 7+/10?
>>97204609>Which classes are the most attractive and why?Barbarian. Fights good, fucks good, doesn't mess around, doesn't need pampering, knows how to party and what is best in life.

>>97171614I haven't figured out the name, but there's a, "secret society," named something like, "The Stonesmiths". An immense amount of rich and influential people belong to it, and it's fairly well known to the public. There are constant, never-ending conspiracy theories generated about it.In truth, it's mostly a drinking club with obscure hazing rituals that are an excuse to drink more. Some shady business deals and political bargains are made in it, but not much else. Maybe there is a true kernel of diehard weird occult dudes at the heart of it, but nobody in the organization cares about them.I don't really like the idea of a single hidden conspiracy group being responsible for a bunch of bad things. Despite what /pol/ tells you, that's not how it works. To me, it's more satisfying if the collapse of the global magical teleportation network was NOT caused by some dudes in robes and masks ushering in the apocalypse, but instead a society becoming complacent, cutting funding for maintenance, repairs, and research, and making short term gains and profits a priority. You know, human nature and stuff.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! >>97206024I ran an end of year survey fory players, one concern that was raised is they have too much gold! This jogged my memory that I should calculate what they owe the innkeeper, and perhaps organise a visit from the tax-man. They keep all their gold, gems & jewellery in the bank, I suppose it is the banker's duty to report the party's assets & maybe even withdraw the taxable amount from their account?I'm thinking that this will happen quarterly, and 10% seems a nice round number (so why not go for 15? Or 1d6+9?). Has anyone else introduced the "other" inevitability into their games?
>>97206024>How do you handle world events?I think the way probably lies in world events happening in between sessions. That way the next time we sit down to play, I just present the state of things as they are and the players can still act/react as they wish. This seems better than the alternative of railroading a session into some kind of war/battle scale event.I haven't reached this stage in my campaign yet, but I plan to enact a change in the status quo pretty soon.
>>97206024Friendly thread reminder that "first-decade" is a contested, loaded definition pushed by a handful of trolls to censor topics they dont like.Feel free to talk about 2e, retroclones and whatever else in the OSR that you wish, and handily ignore any naysayers. Also ignore any claims of "hijacking" its code for "stuff we dont like" and any anon who has been on this website for 5 minutes knows its impossible to "hijack" a 4chan thread.

Okay, this may be because I am using New Recruit, but are shovels counted as a 1-handed or 2-handed melee weapon in 1.0? The description of the shovel says you can use it as a 2-handed melee weapon, but it adds the stats to the unit for a "weaponized shovel" that is listed as a 1-handed melee weapon. My preference there has been Call of Cthulhu, just because I tend to find new players have an easier time with a modern setting. But really the only reason to avoid 5e is for a few of the bad habits it can cause. Namely, trying to solve every problem with violence, and refusing to try out anything except D&D. That's also a reason CoC is my preference for that sort of thing. Firearms aren't that good against eldritch horrors, but CoC is also clearly specific enough that someone isn't going to try to run Star Wars with it.
