They're all exposed metal, and you need living tissue (or the mimetic polyalloy) to not be destroyed. Is it some "field engineer" infiltrator model sent back in time and making these? Did the jumpmaker ever say anything about that?

As I said it's super busted, especially in setting, because it can explicitly allow people to grow more powerful than they were while alive. The axe guy for example was just an average A-rank tank prior to his death but he was easily a high S-rank by the time the series ended. That might not sound like much but an S-rank healer with shit physical abilities can easily overpower an A-rank fighter with basically no effort, and axe guy went from an a-rank tank to a high s-rank tank. Something which explicitly should be impossible because people don't grow in power in Solo Leveling, what they get when they awaken is what they have forever outside of one specific outlier in the form of Norma who has a power that can raise the potential power of someone she uses it on by up to around 30% total if she uses it on them three times (which is the max it can be used on one person).

So at absolute bare minimum, you can Take someone without turning them into your absolute slave if you feel like it. Taken (heh) to its logical conclusion, you can redefine their existence as you please and reshape them to your will as you Take them...so you can totally genderbend and waifu-fy anything you Take if you want to. Thanatos is pretty open in HOW it improves. Just note that it's not necessarily one to one copying of stuff. It's operating off of a paradigm of dissecting things for useful qualities and then adapting those qualities to improve itself in some manner. Those improvements can actually seem pretty different in how they manifest. Sort of like a second trigger, related but not the exact same. It depends on the exact circumstances. He might upgrade itself based on endbringer physiology, just go the easy route and scan it's abilities and duplicate them in some form, etc. Granted, if you managed to get it to kill an endbringer that would be one insane upgrade. The change would definitely be great enough that it might as well be a whole new projection.

The item in the jump also refers to these additional costs when it says you might be able to purchase godhood if you pay a decillion gold AND sacrifice the population of a planet.It's also logically limited to what's in the power of the gods of the setting to offer, and they're not omnipotent, even collectively, as they have their own problems they're trying to solve.
