Pump + First Strike means it wins all combat, even when it doesn't have protection from what you're facing. Then there was a huge gap, and Innistrad had an awful mechanic where you had to count the spells from the previous turn, which confused everyone during the prerelease and caused problems for the entire Standard format whenever someone failed to understand that having a transformed werewolf doesn't mean that a newly played werewolf doesn't get to transform. Then they had a mix of traditional pay mana transformation and spell counting. Then they had a one-off werewolf in the D&D set that was different from all other werewolves. Then the introduced Day/Night, which was even more annoying than the original spell counting because you had to track it for the entire game even if there weren't any werewolves. I expect the next iteration to be yet another Morph variant where you play it face down as a 2/2 human and unmorph all of them it with a trigger condition.
