Soul Chain seems to almost guarantee to hold anything for 15 seconds which is enough time to either Biden Blast it or GTFO, Cell, if I understand it correctly, allows to store Eldritch energy as well as Chi, so it could be useful as emergency heals or teleports, plus maybe (not sure if intended) giving other people charges of Undying could heal them? I took Connect/Other Place/Dream Walker mostly because it's cool and reminds me of the Shining. Becoming a blue-blooded glowy-eyed goth through mutations and constantly seeing disturbing shit with 15 insanity seems like a small price to pay for this power. I picked Vanessa because she seems like a good choice for dealing with psychic threats or neutralizing physical threats with weak minds, Amanda because it seemed like the right thing to do, and Benefactor because maybe, just maybe I could trade with him for an escape to a better world someday. All Ascended Souls I picked are physical and could be Biden Blasted, and both of the anomalies are just plain helpful.

Husanon here.Do you guys have suggestions on how I could change how being a Luminary works in general?I'm thinking about making it explicit that your power comes from the artifact even if they are mastered. So if the artifact is broken you lose its arts. But also clarify that the artifacts are extremely difficult to destroy. This way the deal is a bit more balanced with them dying if you do and you losing power of they do.I'll make the changes once I'm done with Jian and move to Isi.

>>94782786>Insanity: 15>I feel likenothing, you don't exist anymore.
>>94782822This is indeed the way to break the game. I choose not the use the context out personally because there are many magic systems that allow you to just destroy the whole thing, like Living God, or Cultivation shit.
>>94782824>>9478283316 is game over, 15 is the cut away point (gives you "Strained" and 4 mutations in the original). The dude who remade it is just retarded and put both 12-15 and 15+ in whereas it should be 16+ or >15.

>>94782891I'd let Satan fuck me in the ass for a bunch of tiny miscellaneous powers, anon. The answer is both.

Waifus owe me sex
>>94783048Oh boy they do.The thing is that servants are not the actual people (Outside of Artoria). They are spiritual simulacra with parts of the original spirit cut off to make them fit into a mold(a class). For example of actual Gilgamesh appeared he would have the powers of all his different servant versions and likely more.He would clean the floor with Artoria in a moment, Herakles is on the same boat if he actually appeared he would bend artorial like she's nothing.Artoria is truly powerful because she has a dragoncore and she was given divine/conceptual artifacts by godlike creatures beyond humanity.
>>94783053Yes so go collect.
>>94783053Time for your meds, Softie.
>>94782847Does the rule that "the more powerful a character was in mythology/history, the more powerful he will be as a Servant" even exist? If it did, then all real historic people should job compared to most mythological characters.
>>94783118It does but they also depend on fame for power. The belief of humans influence the power of the spirits on the throne of heroes. And yeah generally the older the spirit the more powerful the servant will be that's why Gilgamesh is considered the strongest as his legend is one of the most ancient and he was 2/3 god on top.

>>94783801The idea behind letting Isi have those powers is to let you become a super luminary. You have the common traits and limitations of all luminaries(That help explain along with the limited access to artifacts why they don't dominate everything.) but you have the chance to surpass those limits thanks to her as the others help you surpass your limits in other ways.
>>94783973...Boring. Anything can give me the point A, from Ai to writing prompts to daydreams. I need something with more meat.>>94783950https://imgchest.com/p/lqyeql6qydnSomething like that.

>>94784005Did you switch from wifi to mobile network or something? One of your IPs you didn't use for a while must have gotten the warning I guess
>>94784009One of the things you explicitly can do is create weapons that bend fate to hit their opponent, and the only time I need is to just find someone and touch them.
>>94782811I'm also thinking about maybe getting rid of the whole access/learn powers thing. You must activate the artifact to use it.And the only way around it would be with IsiThe costs would stay at the access level if I do make this change. But I'm uncertain about it.The idea for this change is to simplify it a bit and to make emphasis on the artifacts importance as part ess and not just sources of power to be tossed on a whim.
>>94784005>looks up post in desuarchive>it's just a still image of she-hulk twerking and comparing an author to marvel studios>'criticism'
>>94784037>there is nothing wrong with these sorts of cyoas.Of course not. The fact that I find them boring or uninspired doesn't invalidate their qualities. I'm just not the audience for that. There might be a sweet spot somewhere, since I recall enjoying Hearts Adrifts but I haven't found it yet.

>(Fight the White Knights)
>>94782811>>94784050Sure. It makes sense.
>>94784087stop saying that shitpost over and over
>>94784050I don't like this especially if you can only have one activated at a time. Extremely off-putting especially for passive powers like the intelligence boost and charisma boosts stuff. Do not do this.
>>94783954NTA but for me too lack of a setting and player role is unforgivable, because everything else is granted meaning by this context. Eg a fireball isn't very impressive in a world where everything is lava (like that one Beri cyoa), and "you can swing swords 2x as fast" isn't very useful for the kind of fights you are likely to get into in real life while it may be extremely useful for a low-fantasy questing knight. A CYOA is about considering between options - no serious consideration can be had without some basic context.Lack of "adventure" is fine though, if the setting is evocative enough that an adventure becomes easy to imagine within it - this may even be preferrable. And if the setting is (You)r IRL life as in pill pickers, that can be fine too.
>>94784047There are powers that ignore things like that. You can't do anything against timestop or time travel + spawnkill. You can't do anything against speedblitz or assassination as you need to at least recognize your targets as targets, yes, you may job to a normal sniper even. Things like King Crimson or Death Perception do funny things with predetermined fate. Your chances aren't good, this cyoa is bullshit even if you ban Context Out.
>>94783829>grimdark, noblebright, nobledark, comfybrightI feel extremely vindicated by that list because someone called me a retard in an alignment thread with a stupid chart and I proposed this instead.10/10 cyoa even if I didn't read the rest
>>94782811>>94784050i really don't se a point in making these changes. it would just make things more annoying

>>94782811That sounds like complete ass.
>>94784032How could I do that?>>94784112That problem with passive powers already existed. And Isi does have ways to make them practically permanent with lord of the armory.Same with only being able to activate one at a time.
>>94782811>>94784050>>94784164
>>94784178>That problem with passive powers already existedNo it didn't because the point cost between only having something active and having it on whenever you want is so small you might as well always master the power instead. Even then everybody's just going to master all the passive powers. I will not be playing the cyoa if you remove mastery for no reason
>>94784050How would this affect mastered powers?
>>94782811>Do you guys have suggestions on how I could change how being a Luminary works in general?Free bonding with all artifacts, pacts only give you ten essence each.
>>94784134> There are powers that ignore things like that. Well yeah, that was just an example that physically aiming isn't necessary. As for the rest of it, you're missing that 1. They need to find me first, 2. I have a stand for protection against sneak attacks, and 3. If we really want to go bullshit I could just make a weapon that retroactively makes me a god and kills everyone the instant the competition starts.
>>94784221No you don't understand I want you to bond with all of these artifacts, they all want to bond with you, but first you need to get a laundry list of new health and mental issues. Oh and by the way you're the only hope against this extradimensional threat and the only one that can use these artifacts that totally love you btw. What do you mean you don't want the drawbacks? They're important because uhhhh... they just are ok!
>>94784178i suggest to just leave things as they are, on the other hand i don't know if you checked last tread but maybe do something about nayza and cepure.also, beside the worlds section/pages, what is left?
>>94784236The Luminary was the Drawbacks we picked along the way
>>94784207Basically mastery would not exist anymore.>>94784206Maybe I could lower the cost of access like another anon suggested.Like making the cost difference 3/5 instead of 4/5 so access is more of an appealing option.Instead of getting rid of mastery.>>94784221Ok what about this. Each pact gives you 10 points but to bond you must pay 10 essence? This way you have the option to bond for free with 1 drawback or to get it without them for a small fee?
I don't even see why people want the current bonding system changed. It works fine.>NOOOOOO I DESERVE TO HAVE ALL THE POWER I WANT WITHOUT ANY SACRIFICE
>>94784263>he doesn't want a good power fantasy
>>947842711 trillion grabbag powers for free is bad power fantasy, not good. There's a reason generic power pickers are looked down on here.
>>94784263>sir I have procured the finest selection of artifacts for you, you're supposed to bond with all of them and they all deeply love and want you to bond with them. If you don't bond with one they go back into the dark storage closet for eternity never to find love or happiness again. Also there's an unknown interdimensional alien invasion destroying entire worlds and you're the only one that can stop it so getting as much power as possible would be ideal.>but if you actually want to bond with them I need you to contract aids and get progressively worse brain damage each time because the artifacts say they love you but they actually want you to die and take them with you in the war
>>94784250I did see the results. The plan is as follows.>Finish updating Jian>Update Isi and rework the basic system with the feedback I get.>Work on balancing all the artifacts here I would see what to do about Nayza and Cepure>Finally work on the worlds and final page with info on the housesAnd that would be it.
>>94784228X to doubt. This is scenario with no prep, it's reasonable to assume that the fight starts instantly.Maybe it will counter mundane sniper, yes. But not all the possible bullshit. You seriously overestimate Six Eyes. If Gojo Satoru can't create city-sized Violet, you can't achieve true bullshit this way too.
>>94784284That seems like the system is meant to discourage power gaming without closing the door for people willing to go for it.
>>94784087One simple phrase can undue all of their hardwork. Damn
>>94784258Ok what about this.you don't make any weird or unnecessary changes on the core gameplay of the cyoa?

A lot of them are more like people trying to score a job interview than anything else.>and you're the only one that can stop it so getting as much power as possible would be idealIdeal for you and Kleidi, but not necessarily the artifacts. If artifacts are the giant force multiplier weapons they're portrayed as then the aliens would just take them out of the dark storage closet and proposition them themselves, not destroy them. From their perspective, they don't *really* need to bond with you because their lives aren't really at risk, another opportunity will show itself eventually. >>94784366Yes
>>94784378That's fair.
Miya's gameboy is magic so I won't question how it works with modern games and how you put in the switch cartridges, button mappings, color, processing power, etcBut no matter how magic it is you'd still be playing switch games on a 2 inch screen which sounds absolutely miserable
>>94784338>threatening the beings your power is reliant onThis sounds like the stupidest plan imaginable, especially against some of the more prideful artifacts like Jian or Luva or Bue. Jian has already shown that she's willing to sever connection with you and kill herself if you muck up her first Pact, if she straight up hated you she could do this at a critical moment and get all of you killed.
>>94784394>threatening the beings your power is reliant onYou either give me power and we beat the aliens and stuff together since you said you thought so highly of my potential and what-not, or you get shot into the sun on a rocket. If you get uppity, isi knows what to do. Decide quickly.

>>94784318To patch up at least a few flaws in the logic of the CYOA.For example the "Artifacts want you to take them but willingly fuck you over putting themselves in danger of death" that can be seen as a weird contradiction that can has answers but one way that I could account for it is this:Bonding costs 10 essence by default someone normal that is compatible has to gather the essence necessary to bond with years of training(this being the most common path) or they can take a pact to align themselves with the artifact like you do but still have no essence and have to gather it to start unlocking or mastering powers. In your case as a luminary you can bond to all artifacts and have 100 essence to start so you have a huge headstart. In this way the pacts are not the artifacts forcing you to gimp yourself but them offering you shortcuts to power on this time of need. And the essence you get could be 10 for 1 drawback and then another 20 for the second.so in total you would get 30 essence but as it costs 10 essence to bond you would actually get 20 like it is right now but it would maybe be a bit more coherent.
>>94784409>hmph that stupid blade finally caved, time to curbstomp these aliens>black hole cannon? i can parry that easy->w-wait why isnt my parry working- AAAACCCKKKKKThis is your fate.
>>94784432Isi puts her to sleep and it works just fine because I unlocked the ability. She later is shot into the sun for trying.

This spell allows a chosen few to merge their souls with that of a celestial being, granting them extraordinary powers and insights. When an individual undergoes the ASI ritual, their essence becomes intertwined with that of a starborn entity, a creature of pure cosmic energy. This symbiotic relationship bestows upon the individual the ability to manipulate astral magic, traverse the Astral Plane, and even communicate with the stars themselves. However, the ASI spell is not without its risks. The bond formed between the mortal and the celestial being is incredibly delicate. Any disruption or imbalance in their symbiosis could lead to catastrophic consequences, such as losing control over one's own body or becoming permanently trapped in the Astral Plane.Only those with the purest of hearts and the strongest of wills are chosen to undergo the ASI ritual, as it requires immense mental and spiritual fortitude to maintain the balance between the two souls.
