I feel like Immortality + Regen + Superhuman is a required baseline in that fucked up world, and it's nice to have invis/psy invis, flight, teleport, barrier, and ability to run away using mirrors as a backup. Soul Chain seems to almost guarantee to hold anything for 15 seconds which is enough time to either Biden Blast it or GTFO, Cell, if I understand it correctly, allows to store Eldritch energy as well as Chi, so it could be useful as emergency heals or teleports, plus maybe (not sure if intended) giving other people charges of Undying could heal them? I took Connect/Other Place/Dream Walker mostly because it's cool and reminds me of the Shining. Becoming a blue-blooded glowy-eyed goth through mutations and constantly seeing disturbing shit with 15 insanity seems like a small price to pay for this power. I picked Vanessa because she seems like a good choice for dealing with psychic threats or neutralizing physical threats with weak minds, Amanda because it seemed like the right thing to do, and Benefactor because maybe, just maybe I could trade with him for an escape to a better world someday. All Ascended Souls I picked are physical and could be Biden Blasted, and both of the anomalies are just plain helpful.

Do you guys have suggestions on how I could change how being a Luminary works in general?

I'm thinking about making it explicit that your power comes from the artifact even if they are mastered.
So if the artifact is broken you lose its arts.
But also clarify that the artifacts are extremely difficult to destroy.
This way the deal is a bit more balanced with them dying if you do and you losing power of they do.
I'll make the changes once I'm done with Jian and move to Isi.

Idea is, there's seemingly no limit on how much lifespan I can put into a weapon or what abilities I can put on a weapon, and Six Eyes reduces consumption to 'infinitely close to zero'. So I'll drain someone than immediately craft a godly weapon than can auto kill everyone else. Domain helps with gathering lifespan at range, Stand Up is for self defence, Safeguard is for when I make a weapon that steals powers, Binding Vow is just generally really good and Gaming improves my skills with all my abilities.

Isi's A B and C lines should be made into standard universal powers we have just because we're a luminary, isi gets the theme of tech and intelligence powers, and we get to choose which one we bond with first. Losing powers if they're destroyed makes sense but not if you master their stuff, I think. Maybe its ok, I didn't plan on letting them get destroyed anyways but it still feels off. If you do make it so we lose powers if they're destroyed I guess i'm ok with it.

Eg a fireball isn't very impressive in a world where everything is lava (like that one Beri cyoa), and "you can swing swords 2x as fast" isn't very useful for the kind of fights you are likely to get into in real life while it may be extremely useful for a low-fantasy questing knight. To patch up at least a few flaws in the logic of the CYOA.
For example the "Artifacts want you to take them but willingly fuck you over putting themselves in danger of death" that can be seen as a weird contradiction that can has answers but one way that I could account for it is this:
Bonding costs 10 essence by default someone normal that is compatible has to gather the essence necessary to bond with years of training(this being the most common path) or they can take a pact to align themselves with the artifact like you do but still have no essence and have to gather it to start unlocking or mastering powers.

In your case as a luminary you can bond to all artifacts and have 100 essence to start so you have a huge headstart.

In this way the pacts are not the artifacts forcing you to gimp yourself but them offering you shortcuts to power on this time of need.

And the essence you get could be 10 for 1 drawback and then another 20 for the second.
so in total you would get 30 essence but as it costs 10 essence to bond you would actually get 20 like it is right now but it would maybe be a bit more coherent.

I don't know that Fate makes Arthurian characters so much as it makes all the other pairs severely dysfunctional. For example:

*Berserker-Hercules is little more than a rabid animal, unable to think, let alone speak. His partner is very much just a little girl who wants to know why her father didn't come home from the 4th Grail War.

*Rin is torn between her hormones and and her desire to get her sister back, while Archer is consumed with brooding self-loathing.

*Rider's master is so weak, he had to steal power from his adopted sister - and even that's not enough to get by, so he's unsubtly leaching off everyone around him, making him very obvious.

*Gilgamesh is a spoiled frat boy who can't be bothered to "work", while his partner is so consumed by evil, he can't resist the temptation to resort to cliches and monologuing

*Caster killed her master

I mean, if you look around, there isn't a lot of competition for Shirou and Artoria. Everyone else has basically been severely messed up by the needs of the Grail War.
