Death Frost Doom kinda sucks.DM wanted to do it, and he's the only one who enjoyed it. Two guys died almost as soon as we got to the shrine because one tried playing a key on an organ. From that point on everyone soured. We all just wanted to leave and couldn't think of a good reason to keep going, but we kept at it because that's just what you're expected to do. No one cared about the "mystery." I'm still not sure what was going on other than "spooky stuff." We stopped playing early.DM said it gets better and we should give it a 2nd chance in the future.

The MU was effectively "dead", but for evocative purposes, i had the above situation happen to the MU, so that when the party confronted the cannibals for revenge (and rescue?), they presented their "trophy". But once you get into that hypnotic, ritualistic rhythm, it totally sells the horror and the sheer, terrifying scale of a silent, dying universe, making it a foundational and utterly unforgettable piece of cosmic horror literature.If you like HP Lovecraft, you'll love WH Hodgson.

I joined an AD&D game yesterday. Was excited all week for it.We made characters, and we had a three-person team of MU/Fighter/Thief, and we went out adventuring. We took care of a goblin-and-trap-filled cave, dragged out a sack of gold, and that was basically it.It was like a stereotype of a game. Everything was just slotting into place. I kept expecting some sort of twist that never came. I was expecting something Halloween-related, but there wasn't even any undead, just goblins.I hope the DM was just playing it safe for a first game. I didn't hate it, but I don't really want to do that again.
