The colors look good. Personally I think you could add a little to helmets since right now they look a bit boring. Maybe the highlights will solve that, but I think putting the blue colors on the top fringe part of the helmet would look nice. Maybe a paint the scarab on the middle guy like a jewel of some sort.
>>
>>97327200
good shout on the helmets
I will probably just try to paint the skulls/scarabs since the surrounding recessed fringe might be a bit annoying to paint cleanly at this point.
Silver for the scarabs/skulls could work well, also thinking about red for interest or the same bluegreen as the collar.

>the Pass guard / Tilt Targe (aka. "Tilt shields") are used to protect the armpit
A tilt targe covers your left side, trying to hit your opponents right side during tilting would likely be impractical. It also very much isn't the thing if you want a signficant range of movement, as you would with your sword arm. The armpit-protector you're thinking of is likely the besagew, even thought hey see use on the left too if needed.
As for these little shield-like thingies on the marines on the other hand... probably more decorative than protective, so ailette seems like the better term.

Boring, blue and gold is the everyone-does-it standard for khemri, teal and gold isn't really any different.
red/copper is the default "but I want to be different" scheme for them.
I'm impressed when I see someone do khemri in non-standard schemes, following the path that's so beaten the dead horse looks alive next to it is boring as fuck.
technical work is fine though.

While the other build of the kit than the one in that image is called "sulphurhounds" that seems to be the name of the troop type rather than the mounts. As for the mount itself it's the size of a hors,e used like a horse, about the right shape for a horse... though if the biological bits are those of a horse is of course a different question. Might not even be anything that evolved on Terra in the first place.

On the scale model side of things we generally consider "a lot" to start when you get into four digits. And that tank doesn't even sound like it has a bunch of tiny photoetched parts.

1/35 is way too big for warhammer scales. 1/48 is a more correct scale but even then it's not heroic scalings. So 1/48 tank would be around the right size but the barrels of guns will be dinky and in general things will be sized for smaller hands than warhammer guys have. You're better off just enjoying the model on it's own than trying to warhammer-ify it imo. Or using it for kitbash parts

>>97328833
>1/35 is way too big for warhammer scales
Depends entirely on the kit and how you want to use it. I regularly use 1:35 stuff.
The infamous (and still very funny) Dragon Wagon incident during Golden Demon (I think it was circa 2002) was also purely 1:35 scale.
>>
>>97328860
>scale military hardware for autists
I recall that some companies are infamous for making otherwise unnecessary parts separation with lots of veeeeery tiny elements because of people believing that more parts equal to better model.
>>

for a main battle tank kit like anon has they are like baneblade size in 1/35. Hard to convert that to anything warhammer-ey

Generally speaking, utility/logistics vehicles, some smaller IFVs, older APCs (~WW2 and Vietnam era), pretty much ALL weaponry since weapons are oversized in warhammer heroic scale, and a whole lot of stuff like baggage, era bricks, etc. are near perfectly sized in 1:35.
Picrel is Vietnam era wagon in 1:35 + plasticard + bits.

Slightly unusual question - what's my best bet for heating up polystyrene sheets (0.5-1.5mm) if I want to shape/bend them? I figured out I would need something around 110-120C (boiling water is not enough, I checked before and PS tend to rapidly cool down anyway) and European hairdryers are designed to handle hair and thus produce low temperatures compared to US literal heatguns. Speaking of, when I checked local shops I could find only small portable heatguns producing 260C at minimum or ones with precise control in 50-650C range but also rather huge and with 2-4kW power so something I wouldn't plug into power strip under my desk. Also tried heating over kitchen gas burner but it proved to be quite unpredictable - slightly too close and it would almost melt or get burned.

Anyone with good idea?

This. Not to mention the kit quality, sprue organization, and the fact that GW is like twenty years behind scale modelling standards when it comes to detail. GW kits are not the worst, but they are also nowhere near the best. They are, however, one of the most expensive ones around.

Only the largest/superheavy tanks in 1:35 are roughly the same size (but generally not as wide) as Baneblade. Shit like Maus, E-100, etc. Smaller stuff like Sherman, Panzer II are okay for Leman Russ, bigger MBTs are generally fine for Macharius or Dorn. People often use 1:35 modern Russian tanks for kitbashing, shit like T-72 and such.
>>
>>97329645
I'm holding a chieftain mk5 in 1/35 scale next a leman russ and it's like two leman russ' in length and like an inch wider. It's close but it's also egregious. Idk how you could make an MBT anything for 40k. I thought it was a cool idea a long time ago but I've not seen it done in a way I like.

Buy older tanks. WWI, WWII, Vietnam era. Modern tanks are generally a lot bigger. For Leman Russ, tanks like Panzer II (and all similarly sized) are nearly perfect in 1:35, picrel.
As far as general kitbashing, use just parts (turret or hull, never both), and use a lot of warhammer greebles to cover everything.

>>
>>97329736
I'd want to take pieces out of it to shorten it and maybe increase the height of the hull to make it more chunky and "40k". Like how the KV2 turret just looks 40k-ish in it's design. but I've not seen anything inspiring in that way or seen anyone do similar. real tanks don't look all that fit to fight tyranids. Sturmtigers and things like that I guess look like what I might be into, that might be cool. thanks anon I'm inspired
>>
>>97329804
Most model tank kits have the upper part of the hull (on which turret sits) as own part, which means that you can easily make it taller with plasticard. Shortening also shouldn't be too difficult, but there will be cutting involved.
