Basecoating my corsair wraithlord
What are things you do that are "not" canon in the mini painting meta?Mine is picrel>Prime the sprueMuch easier for me to spray prime on a 2d "sheet" of sprue than a 3d mini. I just scrape off the paint to glue the pieces. Mould lines are scraped off. I dont re prime over them since they're just thin lines.>Prime white for blackPic rel will be my Black Templars, and I always prime white to paint black, that way my eyes know where exactly I've painted. And about you guys? Anything unsusual with how you do things?
>>97387438>I dont re prime over them since they're just thin lines.Anon, that's just gross.I don't think you're saving any time or effort because you have to scrape off the primer to glue the models. Also impossible to do gap filling and the like.Great rage bait. 10/10 would rage again.
>>97385602we went over this before, scale doesn't affect how things look when everything is in the same scale, otherwise the details on coins would be impossible to make out.>>97386514what exactly is the difference between realistic and fantasy? the lord of the rings movies were made with real people and real costumes, but it was a fantasy movie. even if you are painting a fantasy creature like a dragon or a tyranid are you not imagining "what would this look like if it was real?" when you are painting it? I think you are confusing realistic style with illustrated or comic book style.
>>97387702I think that anon in general is quite confused.
WIP, I'm putting together a Kratos tank for use in 40k. Should I go lack Legion or Ultramarines with it?
>>97387688It does, it saves me a lot of time and it lets me add bits and pieces that I didnt plan. Sometimes I want to add a cape or different arms after painting the body. My bits box already has the pieces I need. Why is this a rage bait?
>>97388331Post your finished minis, anon
This might seem like a stupid question, but what's the point of a smaller nozzle on an airbrush? Is it just for smaller details? Or for putting paint on the same size just slower?
>>97388331How does it save you time? You have to scrape primer off, I don't. I save time, you don't. I don't see how it's easier to add bits either.I called it rage bait as a joke, but it's because nothing you're saying seems to make sense.
>>97388361It's for detail. Slower is done by easing off the trigger a bit.
>>97388361Yes. Quality airbrush with a ~0.2 nozzle, lower pressure, a flow improver, and you can do up to a hair thin detail work.
>>97387438I spray primer on the sprue too. I also paint on the sprue. Saves a lot of time. After assembly I touch up mold lines and correct paint if needed.
>>97388415NTA. It does make things quicker. Even if only by a few minutes.
>>97388893How?
>>97388884
>>97388884>>97388893Post minis. Reminder, the original fag did not post his.
>>97388415I just spray one side of the sprue, flip, then spray the other side. I clip and clean like everyone else after. 95% is primed after cleaning mold lines and nubs like everyone else.I guess the saved time is really just having bits that are already primed that I can add whenever I want to already painted mini. I also think it saves up primer, maybe? Since one spray covers more plastic this way than when you spray on assmbled minis.>>97388358I was about to, but then I noticed its the OP pic. So here: >>97386959Granted its not finished, but close enough.
>>97388897My autism demands that I paint every available surface of the model. If they are assembled first, there are surfaces I can't efficiently get to, and I spend more time priming and painting them with tiny brushes that will fit. And if you do assembly line painting like I do, one color at a time on all the models in the unit, doing it on the sprue goes way faster.
>>97388947This is the last one I finished. Posted here a few weeks back. The only paint done after assembly was the wear on the barrel of the siege cannon. Someone commented on the mold lines of the spikes. I fixed that up, but don't have new pics.
>>97388986>>97388947>>97388358Anyway, here's some "proof". With some of my actualy finished minis (all primed form the sprue)So anyway. My question here still stands >>97387438 anyone do things in an unorthodox way?
