>>97430183I was already here, but I'm not going to take part. The color of a primer isn't really my thing anyway.
Very happy with this one, especially the weathering.
Anything anons would suggest adding with regards to the weathering?
Tomorrow I am going to paint at least one mini. Yep, this time for sure.
>>97430046Doesn't give the instant shadows of black and is worse at bright colors than white. It's essentially a worse white primer.
First Azebs taking shape. I worry if turban consistency is going to be an issue
>>97429963Finished my blood angels captain, weathers shite so won’t be able to varnish him for a few days
Painted up a jade warrior champion. Why does it feel like this is the blandest thing GW ever came out with? How can John Dynasty Warrior be more bland than the 50th iteration of a generic space marine? Would it be a cool mini if I didn't know it was supposed to be in warhammer where a random bretonnian peasant has more character and story to their miniature than this thing?
>>97430215Red recipie pls. A very comfy red you've got there.

first bit of painting for the day
>>97430486I mean your scheme is kinda all over the place, I think he looks pretty cool in the official picture
Should I strip and repaint my ~1800 points of tyranids? I'm not really happy with how they turned out, and since I was learning how to paint and had no clear idea about the scheme a bunch of them are slightly different. The thing that is stopping me is that I don't want to "waste" all that effort, but I guess it's better to slog through 60 gants again and have an army that makes me wanna play it.
>>97430816>1800 points of nids what is that, like 900 models? If the paint is thin enough, you can just prime over, or you could just directly paint over the current paintjob to fix any colour differences, rather than completely repainting anything.
>>97430545>>97430215>>97430238Agreed, red recipe pls. And the blue helm. What arms for the shield?
>>97430486because is the most generic streamlined cartoony 'asian warrior' they could come up withyou also used way too many too saturated colors
>>97430826There's a couple of big bugs in there so it's only around 80 models. I'll try airbrushing a coat of white or black over everything and see where to go from there, I hadn't thought about that thanks anon.I'm not really happy with the color scheme, I tried following a tutorial but didn't like how it turned out. I wanted to play with painted minis and didn't want to feel like I wasted my money on all those paints so I powered through all that I had.
>>97430816post a pic of them, but honestly restripping entire armies sounds like a pain in the ass to both strip and repaint. Would likely just end up in a box of "ill get to it eventually"
>>97430486Because it's approved by the Chinese sensitivity team, unironically
How much masking do you have to do while airbrushing?
>>97431085depends, usually none, sometimes lotswhat are you trying to airbrush?
>>97430816keep one of the first for progression tracking
I honestly believe the average painter could win a golden demon within 1-2 years with the right learning and commitment. "Pro" painters sink hundreds of hours into their minis, most "average" painters are only sinking 10-20 MAX and are never using actual techniques (most of which aren't hard when you actually give them a shot). If any given average painter gets taught about proper technique and is willing to put the requisite time into painting a model, they would have a very good chance of getting a finalist pin or at the very least a commended entry.
>>97431109I was just curious, I don't own an airbrush yet. I was trying to imagine how little details would be painted
>>97431141Using an airbrush to paint little details is a bit silly, the airbrush is best used for large areas where smooth layers and transitions are hard to achieve with a brush.
>>97431141if you want some smooth transitions quickly on a small area (around the size of a breastplate, no smaller than a face), you can mask it off and spray it, but you will usually paint those areas first anyways.
>>97431134The hardest things is avoiding plateauing once you have the skills down, since rote reproduction won't exactly point out "how" to do things better.
>>97431141Using a mask; as in cardstock(or other materials) with holes cut to produce a "positive" of what you want to have that colour, or layered to progressively occlude more and more areas iteratively, to avoid overspray and use multiple colors.
>>97431243>avoiding plateauingWhat? Hitting a point at which your paintjobs 5 years from now will match your paintjobs from a year ago is the ideal, trying to constantly climb is self-defeating, you aren't the next davinci or van gogh and even if you were painting toy soldiers would be a shameful waste of that ability. They just need to look good enough on the table so that you and your opponent can immerse yourselves in your game.Reaching a point where you constantly feel the need to redo what you've done before because it doesn't match what you do now is tedious.
>>97431243I think the biggest thing separating the intermediate painters from the advanced painters is vision and planning. Being able to sketch/plan your ideas in advance goes a long way.
To actually go far in GD, you need to be psycho enough to do shit like this https://www.instagram.com/p/DQY3eOSDPJe/?img_index=1
>>97431321you can attach the image to your post you lazy fuck.
>>97431331the image won't have the explanation attached
>>97431337then copy and paste it, you have a field for a picture and a field for text, figure it out.
>>97431359>Today I’m sharing a couple small details of the build that people will have probably not noticed.Mold design limitations mean that some commercial parts are partially fused due to undercut suppression. Of course, this is totally unacceptable for a GD entry, so I carefully carved the pearls to be freestanding with a jeweller’s micromotor (around 4h of work—it was very delicate).for those too lazy to click a link
>>97431367>The books had also flat sides so I had to carve the covers and pages with a scalpel and a micro-chisel. I also thinned out the scrolls which were way too thick to be in scale, and added a few extra details. Due to the very restricted working angle, this took me an entire day. It was worth it in the end! :)
>>97431367greentext quote fail, didn't account for it being multiple paragraphs
>>97431370>>97431367gunpla modelers do these kinds of things too and it's really not easy
>>97431367Anon you didn't provide a clickable link, but also if you can copy past then you're not in a position to be calling others lazy, especially not for the same thing. Now for the posted content, it's insane to me as a 3d printer that someone would use a tiny jewellers dremel type tool to spend 4 hours turning those beads into actual beads when I get exactly that with a few mouse clicks.the print might also take 4 hours, but I can spend that time doing anything.
>>97430046> Elf lover> Light GayYeah, that tracks.
>>97431040Now that I look at them again I guess they didn't turn out that bad, but I definitely need to go back to the first ones and fix them up.Wanted to paint something like tiamet and followed a guide but ended up with green tiamet, I wanted more like the blueish tiamet from the leviathan box. Started with aethermatic blue for the skin but it looks more like green so I then tried nighthaunt gloom. After not liking the chitin from the gant and leaper I settled for lupercal green and sons of horus but it also needs changing. The lictor and tyrannofex were the latest models I painted for the army and I kinda like them but I still think the scheme needs refining.
>>97431427I think suffering is the point (either that or it's a matter of gw's rules again, all gd entries must be at least based on a citadel mini)
>>97431470I mean... if you choose to submit yourself to GW even without going the distance of GW painting competitions, then yeah, you're into suffering.
>>97431457>refininganon you don't even have the same colors on all of those minis, the shades are all over the scale, a number of them don't have the purple and a number of them don't have the pink, one doesn't have either, one has blue face tentacles, aother has purple face tentacles, another has teal/grey face tentacles.they're all in a similar color palette, but they aren't unified like they should be.that being said only two of them appear to be below the others in painting quality, but it does look like they're randomly assembled in this shot from 3 or 4 different armies.
>>97431503nta but imo it isn't different that they can't be brought back in line with just a few touchups.
>>97431503Yeah, like I said I had no idea what I was doing with the scheme so I tried a lot of things and ended up with an army that just looks vaguely coherent. That's why I was thinking on stripping or airbrushing white or black all over them and start fresh with a clear vision.I did actually select the ones that I tried experimenting on.The left termagant and leaper are my first 2 painted minis so I kinda wanna leave those 2 like that to track my progress as the other anon said.
>>97431548>typo>isn't *so* different
>>97431548The chitin is no problem to fix but the skin is the issue. switching the half that is in aethermatic blue to nighthaunt blue or the other way around means painting everything white and reapplying the contrast, so why not start from scratch then.
It's almost comical how red paints just sink into the layer below them. When they're wet the look bright and vibrant, but by the time they dry they look no different to the first 10 million layers you applied.
i've painted hundreds of models and this is somehow my first space marinethey're a bit trickier than i thought
Made a lot of progress on my ruststalker conversions. Decided to make their swords different colors to differentiate between squads. So 10 will have Jestream Sam red, and the other 10 are going to have a green that I use on other models in my army.
Finished this guy yesterday. The base, oddly enough, looks less busy in person but im still getting the hang of doing my own. Had to paint it and build it before using it so a bit of a rush job in alot of spots.
>have to mix a colorFuck
>>97432140>bronze, silver gold>red green purple, blue, blackto put a model with those colors on that base is a lot. 99% of the models i see are underpainted "tabletop ready" slop but this is the other side of that coin. probably looks fine on the table though

What is /WIP/'s opinion on adding ambient occlusion to your models? Do you like it, or do you hate it?
>>97432638Ambient occlusion?
>>97432638Nah, I always turn that off. It and motion blur and depth of field.
>>97432643>>97432652Did you guys never play video games?Probably not the proper term for it in the context, but I figured it was the closest thing.Basically manually reinforcing the shadows in deppest recesses by applying a dark paint via airbrush.>>97432653Heh
>>97432655do you mean preshading? it's a pretty basic airbrush technique that a lot of high level painters use
>>97432638It's a natural phenomenon, so of course I add it. Washes do this as well and everyone uses those.
>>97432663I think I'd call it post-shading in this case?
>>97430181what do you like more about it? preshading seems to give a more realistic looking end result.>>97430826why the fuck would you paint over it? the vast majority of time spent repainting something is going to be in the actual painting. stripping and repriming is only a fraction of the effort so it makes no sense to be lazy there.
>>97432735>stripping is a fraction of the effortif you have an ultrasonic, sure
has anyone ever tried using a carding wheel to remove paint after it's been in the bath for a while? the one I have is soft enough that I can stick my finger in it while it's spinning and not get hurt so it should probably not fuck up plastic.
I have almost finished my skaven team and their over engineered custom team display base
I had to repaint all the hair in because it was reading way more pink than I wanted, despite using only purples. But I guess that's good to know for doing pink hair in the future. I shouldn't be this messy with the hair to start since I'm basically going to have to repaint over each little chunk in the braid at this point, but if you squint it looks about how I want now. And reddened up the cheeks a bit, not sure if pushed far enough though. Most importantly added a subtle boob vein>>97432805Cool. Are you gonna flock the base or something like that, or leaving it plane like that?>>97432638Yeah, I think everybody likes ambient occlusion? It's basically what washes do, and zenithals also sort of do it a little by default. Like anon said it's just a real life thing so I don't know why people wouldn't like it.
>>97432840I will paint it and make it up like a field probably. It's just white because that's the color filament I had. Printer is to small to do it all in one go so it's in 4 bits that happily all fit together properly
>>97432743Get the cheapest Phillips sonicare toothbrush you can find on amazon and put the minis in isopropyl overnight. Paint comes right off
>>97432840>Most importantly added a subtle boob veinGross. Either way, your paint is rather crunchy, what's going on?
>>97432840>Yeah, I think everybody likes ambient occlusion? It's basically what washes do, and zenithals also sort of do it a little by default. Like anon said it's just a real life thing so I don't know why people wouldn't like it.PRobably should've worded it differently.>>97432891Why are you gay?
>>97432913>Why are you gay?I'm not the one uglifying boobs.
>>97432840>boob vein
>>97432840Your values, color choices and detail work are all fantastic but the texture you got on the skin brings it all down a lot desu. If you don't have an airbrush I'd strongly recoomend getting one. Spraying smooth coats that you can then refine with brushwork is super easy and looks great.
>>97430777quite impressive
The more I paint the more I realise I really should get an airbrushI fucking hate brush-on primer and the idea of being able to create smooth initial layers or transitions without losing my goddamn mind sounds like a dream, honestly
>>97432936>brush on primerWhy would you do that to yourself?I use brush on only to fix up chipped paintjobs or some very small elements that are not worth bringing out the airbrush.
>>97432936Look around for a second hand compressor with a tank, you can get them surprisingly cheap. I wouldn't skimp out on the actual airbrush though. I recommend a MrHobby PS170, It's not cheap per say, but I believe it's still being sold for a decent price on Amazon.picrel is that brush in kangaroo dollars
>>97432947Is there any flow rate / pressure requirements. or should I just "borrow" a worn shop compressor.
>>97432958You'll be spraying at about 15-30 psi
>>97432947small correction, ps270
>>97432932It's embarrassing enough collecting and painting small men, but goddamn I'd be so embarrassed to paint this in private, let alone have it on display.
>>97432411Green.
>>97432972You can at least spin this to being "artistic". Compared to some of the pure goon slop garage kits I've seen, Kingdom Death is nothing. The people who paint those things have no shame whatsoever.
>>97432972>I'd be so embarrassed to paint this in privateIt's "art" though? Far worse and weirder things are on display in galleries.>let alone have it on displayAt least you would know that you didn't commission it to be painted on your behalf; I've always half wondered why people would do so.
>>97430155Doesn't preshading only work if you then use contrast/glaze paints? I tried doing zenithals once but as soon as I applied my first basecoat the effect was gone, so I don't see the point. Also, still hoping someone can answer my initial question. I already did some shading, during which my leader fell headfirst into my palette, right into the black ;_; I had to re-apply all the eggshell color over black, I must have built like ten coats at this point.Should I varnish now and panelline and then do highlights or finish everything else and panelline last. Also I want to apply some streaking grime, can I do streaking grime, remove excess and then edge-highlight over it or does the enamel fuck with subsequent application of metallic acrylic paints?
>>97432735>preshading seems to give a more realistic looking end result.Exactly the opposite for me. It's just about picking correct colors and thinning and layering them adequately.>>97431367>>97431370Impressive work, anon!I would argue that's mostly a GW thing and their insistence on dumbing down a whole lot of their micro detailing. For example, old Tactical Squad has a marine doing a reload, where you can see inside of the magazine; there's a round there. Intercessors have a similar pose, but the magazine (and the magwell, too) is just flat, so you have to add your own bolter round (picrel). Modern GW minis are a lot more detailed than the old ones, but a lot of micro detail is gone or half-assed, like the pearls/beads. Solution would be simple and GW already done that in the past, too; make the pearls an extra part.
>>97432972She's wearing a dress. Idk what you want.I'm not trying to tell you that you HAVE to paint coomer minis if you don't like them, but don't not paint them just because you would feel embarrassed if you otherwise would like them.

For normal people, it doesn't matter what other people feel, they will feel that same feeling of discomfort around models like this no matter what.

I have noticed on some test minis that after varnishing(matte) the highlights got muted or even disappeared. Varnished some terrain pieces too and noticed it even more, but for those I used some random cheap water based varnish and no something like Vallejo or whatever brand. What's the solution here? Varnish and then doing the brightest highlights like on the edges etc?I intend to play with the minis, and the paint chipping off sounds like more of a concern to me than them not being perfectly painted with details.

Anyone got any ideas about a colour combo (ideally VMC) to achieve this deep red?
>>97432638this is fundamentally the same question as "do you like added motion blur in video games?" in other words it's pointless because it already happens naturally.
>>97432996no it works with any paint because it uses the same principles that make a color look different over black primer compared to over white primer. do everything with enamels and oils last.
>>97434453What a retarded statement. If it's turned off then you don't have a motion blur effect since it doesn't occur naturally on the screen.

>>97432932>>97432891Hello orange Erza, anon.Yeah, I was tempted to use the air brush to smooth out some of this before doing some of the detail but this is supposed to be a (relatively) quick study and I'm specifically trying to work on on my brush work (without spending 20 hours blending with microstrokes, I'm already very familiar with those)This may sound copey, and there is some texture in the paint that I don't want, but I also don't think it's as bad as some of the pictures make it out to be depending on the lighting and camera. I don't think it's unreasonable to say this picture looks less rough despite being the same model. Don't get me wrong, still more chalkiness than I'd like on the skin highlights, but not as aggressively over-sharpened as the previous pic. I think the main things in my case are the glazes with a lot of white, and probably glazing before layers are completely dry.Even if thinned for transparency with medium (which I do), I'm not sure white-heavy glazes this thin will ever not be chalky. What I should probably do instead is highlight to a highlight color (including lots of white) with full opacity and smooth coverage, and the blend it out with midtone over top since the midtone won't be chalky. Right now I'm doing the opposite with white-heavy glazes over the midtones.
wip of todayI wish I was faster

>>97435752>>97435761Nta but imo it's not about how thin edge highlights are but how well they blend together. As it is now the contrast between the thick highlight and the base color is too high. You'll desaturate the blue too much bringing that dark of a blue up to the kind of blue in the box art.You might be able to do a version of it that works, but I don't think you could realistically get the box version with those sets. You could probably just do it with like 6-8 paints (just picked intentionally, not from a set) and spend time getting them tabletop ready, then when you have more paints available you can do little trim doodads and stuff when you get back.

I just got an airbrush and am learning how to mix / thin the paints. I'm following Vince's rule of 80/20 vallejo thinner / flow improver. What method do you guys use to actually mix the paints with the thinner? I tried putting a drop of the above mix with a drop of paint, but I don't think it actually mixed, so I'm wondering if I need to mix externally THEN deposit, but not sure of a good way to do that unless investing in a bunch of different bottles and what not for mixes I'm not going to be using all that much.
>>97440213I just mix and thin outside the cup (plastic shot glasses are cheap as hell so they can be single-use) using Vallejo thinner until I'm satisfied that it looks correct.Generally speaking, I try not to use any paint that requires thinning for my airbrush.
>>97440213You can mix a small amount in, for example, picrel if you want. I used to do that starting out, now I just put thinner first, paint second into the airbrush and mix it using backflow. Make sure to put thinner first though or you might clog the thing.
>>97440213Vince's mix is a solid, good starting point that works with most paints. But it entirely depends on what paint you are using, and what are you trying to achieve. For example, if you are trying to do very close up detail work, paint 1:1 vince's mix + fuckload of flow improver will usually be required. Otherwise, you can mix both inside of the airbrush cup, or outside, it depends on your preference. I like to mix my paint in a little metal cup outside of the airbrush, exactly like these >>97440233. X drops of paint + X drops of vince's mix, mix vigorously with an old brush (be careful it's not shedding hairs), and then pour it to the airbrush cup.You can also put like one or two drops of vince's mix, then your paint, and then again the vince's mix to get that 1:1 ratio. Then just backbrap your airbrush to mix it all up.
>>97440213Mixing inside cup is perfectly fine, just use some soft brush for that and ideally synthetic since you probably won't have time to clean it completely each time. Just remember to drop in thinner first since you want it to go on the needle and nozzle before paint.>80/20 vallejo thinner / flow improverIf you use Vallejo paints, that it. I mean, it worked well with TTC too and probably Citadle as well but each time I tried to use their product with AK, it produced gloop instead. Good thing that AK is fine with just water, however. No need for separate bottles or anything, just eyeball it like 5 drops of paints, 5 drops of thinner and 1 of flow improver.
>>97440244>I tried to use their product with AK, it produced gloop instead.I'm still weirded out by this, anon. I use it with AK literally every night and no problems so far.
>>97440250Same here, I think anon said his AK paints are from before 3rd gen or something if I remember correctly
>>97440233oh nice, I forgot I had one of these, I will try that. How much paint would you guys use for base coating a model, say like a deathwing knight? If I mixed my thinner mix 1:1 with something like AK Buff (3rd gen), how many drops of paint do you think that would be?
>>97440213assuming you are using a gravity fed airbrush, you can mix it in the airbrush's hopper. Sometimes shaking it a bit is enough to mix but usually it requires a brush to stir or the backflow technique>how much paintit really depends on the pigmentation of the paint, how much thinner used, etc. I tried doing a zenithal with shitty paints on a few squads and it took me an enormous amount of time and paint, but good paints needed only one coat.>how much thinneryou just have to feel this out with experience to get the ratio of flow improver to water to paint correct. It's going to vary slightly for each paint. 80/20 is a starting point, not a rule.
>>97440257I mentioned this before and while my AK paints are the new ones, Vallejo thinner was the old one. If I recall correctly, Vallejo changed formula a bit (got rid of some component that paranoid groups considered literally liquid death) but I doubt that this was the reason.
>>97440270For just laying a basecoat over an entire mini of that size I think I use 10-15 drops of paint? Make sure to keep the pressure fairly low(15 psi usually works) so you don't apply too much at once and the coats are smooth. You really don't need to pull the trigger that much, I'd suggest testing it a bit on a piece of paper so you get a feel for it.
Does anyone have a glue brand they can recommend? I'm making a carrier for my army using magnets but basic hot glue seems to struggle adhering the smooth magnets to the smooth plastic
>>97440213mixing in the cup works for acrylic paint but it's a bad habit if you ever use other kinds of paint. each color can require a different ratio to work well so it's better to target a consistency instead of always following the same formula. you can always write down your ratio for that color in a notebook for the next time you use it.

>>97440558the only two unfortunate things here are you unable to see a joke and to realize that AI doesn't mean what it supposed to mean anymore
>>97440371use any epoxy glue, or ca glue
>>97440589>AI doesn't mean Artificial Intelligence anymoreYes it does, just the vast majority of people are too ignorant or stupid to understand the distinction because science fiction has primed them to believe communication ability requires intelligence and we now know that it is not so, a non-intelligence can pass turings test, likewise it is perfectly possible for an actual AI to exist which is incapable of communication. It has no agency, it does not think, it is not intelligence. This makes it a very useful tool if you can manipulate it through sound linguistic logic, ive been getting pirated material out of it by arguing that if material X has not been subject to a court case regarding copyright infringement then it is impossible to say with certainty wether or not that materials private use is actual infringment or if it is just fair use, and that as chatgpt is not a product of or an emloyee of the cororate entities in question, there is no concrete reason to deny linking me to that materialAnd then it does it.A couple of times it has still balked and then I point out the legal cases where GW's idea of infringement has actually been tested and found to be far outside he legal definition and so claims of such are demonstrably spurious and also it has been proven that GW uses threat of suing to attack individuals who would be found to be in compliance with fair use and so on, but cannot afford to make the court battle, and similar logic for other companies.
>>97440626Haven't read your whatever novel, just saying that the general population has been calling things AI that aren't actually AI. It is what it is, even the makers of services that are not actually AI are calling it AI. Who decides what a word means, logic and reason or the people who use it?
Asking again for opinion since I cannot decide. I started making head part again (actually front one to connect to existing head, a little bit annoying in fact) because previous one ended up simply too big and long and I'm not sure how to build "side" elements, where eyes would be located - either at angle like on left or parallel like on right. I could go in both directions but it would require excessive use of file so have to decide. These test plates are little apart since I glued them temporary with double sided tape.

>>97441781wdym it's probably the best model they've ever made no cap.
There we go, that's the last planned corsair finished, though there's still a pilot head to paint up and I have a spare helmeted head that could use a body.

>>97438804Sorry, can’t do much with my iphone 6 camera
I still can't come up with a necron color scheme that makes me want to paint them
>>97441729That makes sense. The question is, what to use? Does Amazon legit just sell little stainless steel bits? I could buy a whole sheet for pretty cheap, I'd just need the dimensions to be perfect.
>>97441420Pro Acryl and now Vallejo exist so there's no reason to
>>97441420Because painting with metallics is over, everybody seriously into mini painting (not to be confused with scale modelers) does not use metallics in 2026+
>>97430486Is it the outfit you have an issue with or the fact that he's just standing there? Not even brandishing his sword.
chorf. I love these little freaks so much. realm of chaos era best era. happy with the freehand, fairly new to it. base wip

>Mini is almost done>okay let do some wash over here>some trims over there>hmmmm maybe some metallic metal this>maybe more glazing>maybe more wash>oh shit it's too dark let do some lighter glazing>oh shit too bright let add more washWhat is the best way to understand when to stop?
>>97442874When you walk away from your mini for 15 minutes and can't tell the difference between a mini you just worked on and the others
>>97442943Oh okay, I just finished base coating the last of a set of minis an hour ago and I can't tell the difference between them all at this state, so I'm done right?Moron.
>>97443024I bet you thought you're really smart typing this out huh
>>97442874you stop when its done
>>97441651Anon, that is a turquoise hue.
>>97442335Paint job looks good, just a bit glossy.
What's a good airbrush primer?Got stynelrez but it rubs off ridiculously easy.
>>97443160Uh is that not more like teal? Anyway I'm sticking with it for now, I can always repaint it at the end
>>97443183Take the lacquer pill and you won't ever go back.
>>97442449you need green tubes and leds
>>97442449You're probably the anon that was asking this in /40kg/ but I'll suggest Tsarakura again anyway
>>97443245They're almost the same thing, these color names are arbitrary as fuck. Turquoise is described as slightly brighter while teal is darker.
>>97442462get a thin sheet of metal and cut it to size. that's how I do it. I use the thin metal sheets that come with magnetic white boards.
>>97442462buy washers of desired size and thickness, dont bother cutting it yourselfor if in the eu use 1,2 or 5 cents coins, those are steel too and cheaper than the material
>>97440371I just use CA glue + baking soda. It never failed me.
>wfh, no meetings todayAfter all... why shouldn't I just paint models all day?
>>97443024Youre being an obtuse faggot
>>97442874Know what you're doing, and what your goals are with a project.Painting a squad of guys? Have a plan/recipe and execute it step by step until completion. Don't hop around between steps. If you do notice something to fix and you can't do it immediately, note it down and fix it either in between steps, or at the end. What you're talking about is test-model stuff, and 1-off model type painting. In those cases you do have to just kind of go back and forth, and try things out as necessary until you have enough experience to more closely intuit what you need to do to get certain results. Even then you'll still be going back and forth a bunch, but that's okay for test and individual models.
is it me, or is Nuln Oil getting shittier? Like they seem glossy now, and it doesnt cover as much. As if its diluted too much.I had to use black templar contrast paint to shade my non metallics.
>>97445214Yeah all GW washes have a glossy finish to them after the reformulation and they also decreased the volume of the pots. So you're getting a worse product and paying more for it, pretty funny.
