The appearance of Psychics also inadvertently broke the natural order of things as their powers are derived from Mind > Matter (Impressing your will upon the world with your own rational laws), so super-science exists along with unexplained phenomena. The power-system is similar to Echoes, but diverges as it's more detailed. The main gist is that you have a Psychic Power which is the unique ability belonging exclusively to You. It's your brain's interpretation of a law/power manifested into the world, an unchangeable power that is set in stone once developed from how you lived/subconsciously came to view the world. Example: A person can have a Psychic Power that turns anything they touch into different types of explosive bombs. Of course to enact this power, they have conditions that determine it's limit because you cannot forever overpower reality alone. Then you have Extrasensory Powers (ESP) which are Psionics that any Psychic can learn, but you have to actively learn them to use them and they can range from combat to support. The CYOA leans more towards Urban Science Fiction due to the fact it's focused on Psychic Powers and adventuring with other Psychics in a urban landscape dominated by them, their Clubs, Syndicates, and NWO agents.
