BEASTMEN ROOL ELVES DROOL
>>97659853Fact Check: FALSE
>tqI like playing the most because that's when all my painting and converting pays off and I get to see what horrors I have wrought unleashed upon the fields of battle.
>>97659899Unfathomably kino picture. But what's with the (Magic?) card beside the Shugengen?
>New-Grand Cathay>only new thing is sold out
>>97659861Elf hands typed this post.
>>97659912NTA, but I been seeing people do this at a few places. Using magic cards to show remains in play spell effects on units.
>>97659941Oh ok. I think it's really dumb that GW produces magic cards but they are only limited runs instead of a permanent product. Like everyone could use a set of all the core spell cards no matter when they get into the game.
>>97659912My opponent uses cards like that one to keep track of his spells. If I recall correctly, that specific spell was representing the Fury of Khaine spell.
>>97659947It seems like a super easy sell, but I guess GW continues to be bad a business. I've thought about getting a couple made with custom art/text for my vortex spells. being able to sit it down as the right size for the effects would be nice to have.
>>97660007>Celestial Dragon takes on 12 Greater Daemons at once and winsI'm tired boss
>>97660007
>>97660040Thanks for the uploads lad. I really want pirate ogres to be a thing. Also Hobgoblins mentioned is great.
>>97660040Yin-Yin canonically reaffirmed to be a retard
>>97660019You are ignoring he only could do it because he brought all of Catgay with him and his entire family was fighting off everything else allowing him to solo thise daemons.Meanwhile one dwarf was out west holding a gate solo killing more daemons than all of Cathay combined. And then the Slaan said "no".
>>97660019Wasn't there one elf who fought against four greater daemons at the same time? Not justifying this piece of fluff, but dragons are more powerful than elves and greater demons have a long history of jobbing.
>>97660040>Frogs almost killed Miao by destroying the bastion in -1500
>>97660066Pretty sure that was Anerion (with the sword of Khaine) and atop Indraugnir. But calling him "one elf" is almost like calling Sigmar just a dude.
>>97660019>noooooooo, cathay isnt allowed to be strong because my statesponsored anti-china propaganda told me china is bad and cathay is china!
You ever build a unit where the second 10 you paint end up looking much better than the first 10? I think because this ended up being more about the process/ordering and a different approach for me, I won't be able to adjust the first 10 in a suitable way to get the same effect. How do you guys sidestep this autism?
Do any other Fantasy players struggle to get into 40k? I've played Fantasy for 20 years and many times throughout that period I've gotten inspired to start a 40k army but a few days into my interest I just stop caring. Obviously 10e is dogshit but even with the classic editions like 2e-4e it just cannot grip me the way Fantasy does, not for more than a day or 2 anyways
>>97659899Can I see the chaos champion from the front? Looks brill!
>>97660189Ni hao, Chang. How many social credits did you get for that post?
>>97660338Enough to buy your mom and be your dad. Go clean your room.
>>97660310I've had a bit of weirder scenario with that. I started with total war warhammer because I like fantasy settings a lot and I love dwarfs. I did learn more about 40k and since that was supported, I went with Tau. I eventually painted a 2K army of Tau, but I am still unsure if I'm fond of it. Too many gotcha moments, removal of points per model and gear (started in 9th), the boring as hell terrain, and it being obscenely killy so all the units I worked hard to paint just drop like flies. Dwarfs had become my passion project and the 3 games I played of Old World were far more fun than most of my 40K games. None were stomps, units took time to defeat, proper mispositioning didn't lead to immediate death, and things felt more flavorful. Most of my friends are still playing 40k, but I've been slowly convincing them to join the old world and I've been enjoying playing with the guys at my game store.
>>97659846>TQPainting and converting. Some people are really good at making cool conversions, and the older WD articles that showed off conversions and alternative paint schemes were a joy to read
>>97660066aenarion while acting as the physical vessel for both asuryan and khaine, and with a dragon
>>97660040They observe a Twin-tailed comet in 0 IC, yet that comet showed up when Sigmar was born, in -30 IC.They don't know SHIT
>>97660249Don’t do small batches, build everything, paint each step on everything until it’s done then base everything so it’s all the same
>>97660019probably lower level scrubs compared to the exalted champions aenarion facedlike when kroak was killed by 12 bloodthirsters and then snapped them, and the rest of the demons attacking itza, out of existence those 12 surely weren't skarbrand, anngrath, khabanda and other of the first circle of thirsters
>>97660249Use my army as a show case of my growing skills in painting
>>97660338unlike you, Im actually european.
>>97660440You poor poor soul.
>>97660435Kroak snapped every daemon on the planet off the planet. The impressive part is the fact a frog snapped.
Why are woodelves such utter shit. Just give glade guard back s4 shooting at close range so we have something
>>97660129Sigmar WAS just a dude, he was just very good at bonking things
>>97660459the armies entire identity is just meant to be something that either cheats the game or is just flat out dogshit because of their entire identity.
>>97660428the comet has weird behaviours, lizardmen kept seeing it in their skies in the century they kept sacrificing skaven to summon sotek
>>97660475>Then why didn't they saw it 30 years earlier then? It's crap, who cares, just make the Great War Against Chaos already.
>>97659846Painting and playing but I love thinking of background for my army as they're more or less a roving warband.
>>97660491for the same reason the lizardmen saw it longer than the rest of the world magicazyr in particular distorts the light coming from starts and other celestial objects, so that constellations end up appearing in different places from where they should be, and so that a person who knows about the stars can look up, see the new arrangements, calculate how much azyr is up in the sky and where, and divine the future with those informationsthe men of the empire saw the comet first because azyr distorted light there so that they would see the comet firstor because imperial chronology is faulty your pick
It should of Been Nippon. Japan has a ton more grimdark folklore and media to tap into that actually fits into the setting better and they don't get buitthurt when you lean into the darkest periods of their history.
>>97660567You are just as bad as the people who wanted cathay for the simple use of calling it nippon.
>>97660567I've seen a bajillion properties doing everything possible with japan, I'll take something else thanks
>>97660514>thinking of background for my armyOh yeah, that too is fun, even if its a small blurb for units. Gives them character and it evolves as you play games
Hi, anyone has a Old World Fantasy Core module for foundry?
>>97659947Also out of date, like most books and cards sold for the game. It's pretty easy to make your own. I just print them two sided (Spell on the other side & Spell school on the other), laminate the paper and cut out the cards.
>>97660567>japan has fewer potential customers and a stronger competition in modelling kits>nippon had even fewer fluff to start with and what was there was silly car jokes>if we had nippon, the same people now asking for it would ask for cathay instead last but not least, it was total war, 3 chinkdom was a relatively big success of theirs into the asian market and they wanted to repeat that with warhammer, plus they aimed to cover as close as possible to the totality of the warhammer world map, and cathay is ultimately the much larger and more central landmassthe one and only solution was always to stitch together all oriental factions into one very heterogeneous armybook with lots of contradictory internal dynamics, but that gets in the way of shamelessly sucking up to china
>>97660567Wouldn't mind some cool puppets
>>97659846>TQIt's definitely converting. My current project is going hog wild making chaos armour helmets. It started out with me thinking that I'll just make a couple for the Nurgle Knights I've been working on but I'm already at about 30 or so helms. It's pretty fun.
What (if any) are the nuances of Cathay that make it perhaps not as noblebright as it seems at face value?
>>97660712>“Mind control”
>>97660655They can still do that, the format of arcane journals, armies of infamy, mercenaries and reinforcement sets, plus the precedent of the renegade crowns, means they can vomit out a booklet and 3 kits and call it an armyif anything I'd say that an "ind warriors army reinforcement set" containing one kit of tigermen (x2), one kit of monkeymen (x2), and some token hero kit, is more than likely down the line.
finished 2 spawn of tzeentch. You can't see it but I made a cool lava effect on their bases
What rules changes would you like to see in 2nd edition? For me, I'd like to see the following>Templates autohit>Monstrous infantry viable >Cavalry take extra penalties for moving in difficult terrain>Skirmishers should be weakened
>>97660712Best I can do
>>97660712if we take things at face value, nothing, there is no nuance or depth or conflict, just a distant utopia where the rulers act with complete benevolence and the servants know and accept their place under their betters, a nation far in advance of anyone else culturally and where any and all problems come from overt or subtle foreign invaders we must read in-between the lines, separate hyperboles from facts and extrapolate from what's not touched upon, if we want to carve a semblance of a verisimilarly multifaceted society out of cathay>forced technological and economical stagnation >suppression of religions and alternative magics>dishonest or oppressive subjugation of the population>the dragon's ultimate goal might not be in the interests of humans >the moon empress is shady as all hells and then some>the rulers are more or less detached from mortal concerns >the dragon children squabble for power between themselves
>>97659602Oathmark Elf Light Infantry
>>97660772I'd remove most of the jank and clumsy rules.>Free wheeling on charge>Templates autohit (obviously requires some stat adjusting)>Redo the entire skirmishing system>Reduce character PTS allowance>Make other weapon types besides HW+S & GW actually good to use.>Give monstrous infantry press of battle and parry.
>>97660772go back to fully separating the profiles of rider and steed, but you still need to kill both before either is gonecompletely rework how cannons work, overall making them significantly weaker and/or less accurate make marching columns faster or allow units to reform after so that they are viable for more units ramp up significantly how far units are moved or are pushed back as a result of combat
>>97660772Make weight a thing.
>>97660779So they’re the imperium of man. Got it.
>>97660834>completely rework how cannons work, overall making them significantly weaker and/or less accurateThey're already nerfed from 8th and are just fine (unless spammed). They're mandatory for some armies (Empire and dwarfs)
>>97660772Forgot to mention to give halberds fight in extra rank.
>>97660848>and are just fine (unless spammed)they are always spammed in any army they can be taken specifically because they are not just finethe armies you think should be able to rely on them should be able to stand without them as well
>>97660797>>Give monstrous infantry press of battle and parry.I don't like either of these and I hope they figure out a better way to balance things. Press of Battle is just more needless complexity, and parry makes the cheapest option often better than the ones that cost points. I'd rather see everything else nerfed than have infantry with these buffs. Obviously they're a nice bandaid for this edition, but I hope they figure out something better.
>>97659846Can someone explain to me why people on the internet think skirmishers are monstrously OP and need a complete redesign?I'm just not seeing the problem.

>>97661072>If a unit is spammed it should be limited, not nerfed. Why shouldn't it be nerfed when the unit gets spammed specifically because it's overpowered? What's the limit you think cannons should have? 2 cannons per 1000pts? that's still 4 cannons at 2000pts, and that's still more than enough to deal with any of their intended targets and have time to spare to try to snipe characters, because they are that overpowered1 cannon per 1000pts? that's still going to mean any and all armies that can take them will take 2 every single game, because they are a no-brainer option such is their strength When do you think something is overpowered? only when your army doesn't have one?
>>97660362That's a great feel good story and your white dwarf looks extremely nice
>>97661111This take is so retarded on so many levels. There are many worse things in TOW that are skewed than cannons.

>>97661072>Cannons are fine.>They just ruin the game unless the person who can field them is benevolent.
>>97661124Nobody here is saying they're the only thing that must be fixed, but cannons are absolutely one of the things that must be fixed as well.
>>97661127Pretty much. This is why they call warhammer a gentleman's game. You can ruin your opponent's day by skewing to any sort of list.
>>97661139you can't ruin a game by spending the same points you spend on cannons but on mortars, funny how that works, doesn't it?

>>97660040>>97660045I see what the writers are doing. Yin Yin is the sacrificial lamb. They think ('think' being the operative word) that they can fellate Cathay as much as they want as long as they compensate by making Yin Yin more of a failure and an embarrassment each time.
>>97660040Magritta of Marienburg is a man?
>>97661615its working. cathay as the most interesting lore in TOW so far. every other faction is rather bland, besides maybe tomb kings.
>>97661390That looks kinda cool ngl senpai
>>97661626You mean because of the "elected Emperor" ?
>>97660712I suppose one reading of the fluff is that the dragons aren't as much in charge as they appear. Not to say they don't have absolute authority, the text is very clear on that point, but some details hint that none of the dragons save Yuan Bo are serious about governing their father's empire. The north is dominated by Nan-Gau, which is said to be de facto governed by its gunsmiths and arms merchants rather than Miao Ying. The west is the most disorderly region of the empire, and it's said Zhao Ming neglects the region to pursue his own alchemical studies. And Yin-Yin has been said to be completely unconcerned with her stewardship of the eastern provinces. So although the dragons have the authority to govern it could be inferred that they're not really doing so. And with that in mind you can ask "What kind of people are actually running this place?"
>>97661663I don't know why people are so afraid of the female versions of words these days. If anything it's anti feminist to imply they're lesser.
>>97661635I don't mind the majority of this timeline, I like that we're getting more of a picture of the east and south as well as the Monkey King. It also seems like nation is leaderless since the 23rd century, assuming there's no more timeline pages after the ones posted, which means the place isn't as centralized and there's more room for internal conflict in playable eras (TOW and Fantasy). The one and only thing that makes me absolutely call bullshit is the sudden wank to human astromancers. Like I would understand if they were more flexible spellcasters learning multiple winds, as was the case in the Old World before the colleges only safer under the watch of the dragons, but ultimately incapable of reaching the height of wizards who specialized in their single wind. That would be a reasonable tradeoff and show cultural diversity. But no, the dragons are just so good that the humans can cram half the winds of magic into their heads and master each one within their lifetimes. Also the name astromancer just loses part of its purpose if you're wielding all the winds and potentially you just straight up skipped Azyr. Puts Alchemist in an awkward spot too.
>>97661558Indraugnir wasn't the western equivalent to the dragon emperor, draugnir or kalgalanos, the fathers of dragons, wereespecially judging by the size comparisons we have for the latter and the celestial dragon (head the size of a house and fang the size of a longsword respectively)The one question I have is what the fuck happened to the other eastern dragons, the west had plenty of them of all colors shapes and sizes, other than their mythological father, the east just has the one dragon emperor, and the 9 mutts it had with the moon alienwhere are the eastern dragon lineages that would have coexisted alongside him or descended from him before the coming of the old ones?If they were all dead, what did it?
>>97661663>Yuan Bo - Only one trying to keep the whole thing together, but stretched thing between ruling his lands, ruling the Imperial provinces, and lowkey trying to rule the rest of the nation>Miao Ying - Focused on her wall task to the exclusion of most other things>Zhao Ming - Eccentric ruler more focused on personal endeavors, but walked well enough by the populace>Yin Yin - Just wants to fuck around and do anything except ruling, has to be dragged kicking and screaming into looking after her land, and I imagine it gets worse that daddy isn't around to watch her.>Li Dao - just constantly trying to put down fire after because he doesn't have a natural or artificial barrier to protect his borders, to the point he can't properly sit down.>Other dragons - dead or fucked off.So yeah, there should be space for mortals to actually run things.
>>97661740Yin Yin so cute
>>97661675>"What kind of people are actually running this place?"the shugengans, most likely, but they didn't start being a thing until the year 0, so we have thousands of years for cathay to establish important families that would gather enough influence to essentially govern with the dragons' blessings and yet zero fucking mentions of such things
>>97660333Here you go, anon. People keep asking to see this guy from different angles and I still haven't found the best one to take pictures from yet. Most angles look quite bad, frankly! >>97661837I thought the Celestial Stork took care of that?
>>97661701if we were to headcanon why they're called astromancers first and foremost and what would be a more nuanced separation compared to the western wizards I'd go with this>all of them start and end their studies with the azyr wind, doing otherwise is taboo, as the celestial wind is one of the safest, it's the most important for whatever secret project the emperor works on, and starting from the celestial wind also allows greater control over the aspirants as yuan bo centralises and vets them, disposing of the bad apples>learning multiple winds means not specialising in any, the wizards of the empire minmax into one path and become so engrossed in one wind that it becomes part of them and they can manipulate it like a second nature, while cathayan magic requires more learned skills to reach similar heights in any direction, as well as the help of their compasses or other wizards, but are otherwise way more flexible casters
>>97659846>TQConverting and listbuilding (the fun kind not the WAAC kind)
>>97661823>I wonder which degenerate lizard was the first to take the plunge.what makes the most sense from a narrative point of view is that it was some kind of miraculous and unexpected thing, and a romantic challenge of social normsI don't know shit about chinese folklore, but I seem to recall they have a story about a white snake falling in love with a manwith the above I'd say the likely candidate was the little sister, the hysh dragon, the one that disappears in total war 3

>>97662008Would be a fun nuance, that the dragon emperor publicly weeps for the plight of the dragons but in reality he got territorial, as befiting his species, and wiped out his neighbouring dragons so his own hybrid brood of shapeshifters would rule the land.Although I'm inclined to believe that there was no such thing as "eastern dragons" before and he was just another of the ancient ones. I think as a shapeshifter he's taking a serpentine form that resembles his wife and children, mixing the traits of Dragon and Moon Presence.

The Cathay posting rings so hollow now that their attendance has been reduced to a round zero after the nerfs and comps have been applied so universally. Even Skaven see more play in my areas, and they are dogshit to command, but their strong faction identity pushes through all else. Rampaging Banner on Chosen Knights? Seems the reroll is the most value
>>97662899I'm a part of a narrative escalation campaign, and the way we typically handle things is by hammering out the general overview and rules framework for our dudes first. This mostly consists of a few paragraphs to cover the faction's background and key characters, as well as about a page worth of thematically appropriate rules everyone agrees upon.As we play games over the course of the year, we add more information and rules about our dudes based upon the battles we have and the goals/events on the overall campaign map. By the end of the year, the little record we keep of our dudes is usually a few pages long.As an example, in the current campaign, I'm running a Slaaneshi warherd that roams Tilea. Leadership in the warherd is divided between three factions led by a duelling obsessed beastlord, a subversive female bray-shaman with a eugenics agenda, and a glutonous upstart ungor who literally ate his way into power. Thanks to the last two games I played, the bray-shaman is currently the dominant force in the warherd right now. This affects what kind of lists I can build, as well as what kind of battles I fight when I go on the offensive.

I'd say 10 if you aren't running pigs tho.>140 - 20 Gor Herds, Shield>140 - 20 Gor Herds, Additional Hand WeaponI hold steady in that gors should never take shields, only double weapon. And should always be in skirmish. >120 - 20 Ungor Herds, Shield, Thrusting SpearGenuinely bad choice. Give them bows as well. Multiple ambush ungors is great, but having one on field is good for holding obj. >236 - 10 Centigor Herds, Cavalry Spear, Ambushers, Standard Bearer, Razor StandardThis seems to imply you plan to run them as actual cavalry. They won't do well. That's basically giving your opponent free VP for taking your banner. 8 in skirmish formation with one of the ranged options is way better on ambush. That said, centigors are under rated in general so should work out for you.Everything else is fine and fun. Cygor does suck for its cost, but it's one of those fun to play monsters so I like it.

>>97664882I'd remove the bandaid and make it so that units with the detachment rule can counteract for one another regardless of size and without needing to be assigned as a detachmentjust keep the units close and they clamp on the enemy
>>97662899I've made fluff for almost every unit and character of my DoW army, so time for info dumping:>A minor estalian noble who due to reading too many novels about bretonnian chivalric quests, the harsh estalian sun and/or drinking too much shoddy (by tilean standards) estalian wine decided to embark on a knightly quest of his own.>After making a nuisance of himself in the countryside, he was told by the miller’s guild (who were one of the many he had bothered) that the lands of Tilea were full of adventure and damsels in need of rescue by a knight such as he. They provided him with an escort of pikemen (the so called “Agirre’s Devil’s) and pointed which way to go.>Once there, he was swiftly employed by one or another merchant and noble house, mainly to keep him from causing too much trouble with his “chivalric quest”. >After a while of working for different employers, he finally set himself in the semi-permanent employ of Pavona, or more accurately; the employ of Lucrezzia Belladonna, Pavona’s ruler.>El Don Bigote believes that he’s found a damsel worthy of his heroic feats, a fact that the lady of the city has decided to use in her benefit. So, he and his company march to further Lucrezzia’s goals. However, being a mercenary captain, he does tend to embark on other lucrative enterprises (mostly at the behest of his men).
>>97665198eh, sounds too unfluffy. Regiments and their detachments are trained together as a single fighti ng unit, and I'd prefer the rule to represent that. I'd at least increase the size limit to like 75% of the parent or something, or maybe give the parent a buff if they have a detachment guarding their flank.
>>97665246>One of the men who keep El Don Bigotes quirkier tendencies in check, as well as serving as the company’s paymaster. Two things can be said about him; that he’s quite tight fisted when it comes to the money and that he’s as vain as a peacock.>Uccello claims that the feathers on his helmet belong to a gryphon, though they come from a species of giant, flightless bird that inhabits a small island to the east of the Southlands. No one is sures why they lack predators, some claiming that it’s due to the horrid taste of their flesh, while others insist it's due to some innate magical property. Whatever it may be, the feathers do seem to offer some sort of protection to the paymaster
>>97665251>A mercenary captain firmly devoted to Myrmidia, goddess of strategy. Lucciano refuses to fight alongside races he considers evil in the eyes of his patron, which is quite unusual for a mercenary leader to be so picky on his choice of allies. However, work is never short and thus he will be see fighting on foot, inspiring the men around him by singing rhapsodies of ancient heroes.
>>97665252>A hireling sorcerer who’s quite fond of halflings (much to their dismay). No one is sure if his nickname refers to his magical prowess or to his height, but when enemy sorceries start flying across the battlefield, he is a welcome addition to the army.
>>97665254>No one is sure what brings a truthsayer so far from mist shrouded Albion or to be employed in El Don Bigote’s company. Maybe he’s seeking for allies abroad, or on a quest for some long-lost artifact that may help his people, or perhaps he’s just seeking the thrill of an adventure to gain experience. No one’s quite sure about it (or has yet understood his strange language).>Like the druids of his island, he can summon fen beasts to aid him in battle or act as his bodyguards, a useful ability for any freebooting sorcerer traveling across the world.
>>97665255>Vincenzo Cenerini led quite a dull life before his change of career. As a simple alchemist in one Pavonna's workshops, his daily routine consisted of brewing minor potions for all types; from poisons and antidotes to "healing" potions and tinctures.>During the brewing of a particularly large batch of potions (three thousand antidotes for an upcoming noble’s dinner party) that the next-door bakery exploded by some unknown accident. It was at that moment that Vincenzo felt the allure of Aqshy, the lore of fire, and the beauty of making things explode into flames.>While most flame wizards tend to be hot temptered, Cenerini is a bit too old for fiery outbursts and thus merely grumbles at everything and everyone, especially if one brings up the rumours that he assisted a bunch of bretonnian knights in their quest to find the Grail.>Whatever the truth may be, the burning power of Vincenzo is a welcomed addition in El Don Bigotes mercenary companyAnd that's just the painted characters

>>97665265Nope, just free handed it till it looked good to me>>97665275Adds to the charm really, and all contain some sort of reference>>97665288Got more to share>Agirre’s Devils>A unit of estalian pikemen that were sent as an escort for El Don Bigote. Truth is, they have also been sent away from Estalia for a reason other than providing an escort to an eccentric noble.>Lead by one Lupo Agirre, there are different rumors regarding why anyone would want them out of the country. Some claim that Lupo and his men mutinied against the king while on an expedition to Lustria, demanding higher pay and better treatment, while other whisper that it was because they tried to carve their own domain in the jungle.>Whatever the case, they have followed El Don Bigote into exile, both him and Lupo establishing quite the friendly relationship, since El Don Bigote cares for the men he leads (after all, what is a knight without a retinue?) and Agirre keeping his boss from getting into too much trouble (a task he now shares with Uccello).>So, the men fight for gold and glory (though mostly gold) in the service of Pavona, mostly.
>>97665438>Silvius’ Hounds>While the pike is the most common weapon in Tilea and Estalia, its usefulness is quite limited on rough terrain such as the Irrana, Apuccini and Abasko Mountains. Thus, lighter, and more maneuverable troops are used to flush out bandits and worse from their hiding places.>War dogs are ideal for such tasks, since their keen senses allows their handlers to pursue their quarry over long distances as well as warning them of unseen dangers such as an ambush in waiting.>Silvius’ Hounds are one such unit, led by Martio Silvius, a man who above all else relishes the hunt, be it game in the countryside, bandits in the mountains and hills or ratmen in the sewers beneath the cities. >On the battlefield Silvius’ Hounds will act as screening and harassing light troops as well as guarding the flanks of pike units, all marked by Martio’s distinct whistling as he and his men (and their dogs) chase their next quarry.

>>97665441>Caprese’s Certeri>The crossbow is one of the most popular weapons for a merc for a variety of reasons; it allows a man to kill an enemy from a safe distance while getting paid for it, requires little training, can be used in tight areas, can pierce armor or hard exteriors easier than a bow, and, due to the positioning of crossbow units, gives one a head start to run if things go sideways during battle.>While the Marksmen of Miragliano and Braganza’s Besiegers get the lion’s share of contracts and spotlight (as well as loot), there are many lesser-known mercenary crossbow units for hire to those with not deep enough pockets.>Caprese’s Certeri are one such unit, having fought for different employers and even having fought in some of the Empires many border disputes (as evidenced by the fashion sported by the leader and some of the troopers), and now fight under El Don Bigotes command.
>>97665442PRÖÖÖÖHHHHthe mammoth obviously.
>>97665442Nice gif. The dragon 100%. Besides Galrauch, the closest chaos has had to a Lord on Dragon was Egrimm van Horstman, half a lifetime ago.
>>97665442The dragon is classic but the mammoth is stunning and brave so mammoth.
>>97665447>Götz’s Iron Hands>There are many theories about why soldiers from the Empire are gaining popularity as paymaster’s bodyguards. Imperials point to differences in combat doctrines; Tileans are used to fighting each other and thus do not usually fight to the death, often switching sides or surrendering to avoid excessive casualties (the loss of soldiers being something that greatly damages the future employability of a mercenary unit). The Imperials, on the other hand, must face many threats, both internal and external, in the defense of their homes and therefore prefer to fight until the danger has been defeated.>Certain Tilean scholars point to the courageous rearguard action by a regiment of mercenary Imperials during the Sack of Remas in 1487 that allowed representatives of the Republic to escape to safety as a reason for their popularity as escorts.>Some mockingly claim that their loyalty is due to their lack of knowledge of the local language, only unit captains knowing enough to carry out negotiations while others say that they don't take hints and therefore are very difficult to bribe.>Whatever the case, there’s no denying that it’s becoming more common to see former imperial soldiers working as bodyguards for various paymasters. >One unit claiming to be descendants of the regiment that lead the heroic actions during the Sack of Remas is Götz’s Iron Hands, who protect Uccello (and the pay chests key) from any harm that may come to him. Their banner displays a mailed fist holding a key, a way of saying that the pay chest keys are in good hands. Though the rest of the mercs joke that it’s a sign of Uccello’s unwilligness to part with the money.
>>97665454>Dschingis Khan’s Riders>Any army that advances without proper scouting marches blindly into a possible ambush or other disaster. That’s why many use light infantry or light cavalry to reconnoiter what lies ahead during marches, harass enemy supply lines or flanks during battle.>Dschingis Khan’s Riders are an ungol horse archer unit that fills those roles in the company. Fond of their vodka and singing traditional songs like “By the Wild Steppes of Kislev” and “The Ungol’s Parable”, they’ll fire at the enemy before feigning a retreat to pull them out of formation.
>>97665457>Bragg’s Brutes>While the plains of Tilea are relatively safe to travel, the same cannot be said of the surrounding mountains. >Many a bandit camp (be it human, greenskin or otherwise) has its base of operations in the Abasko, Irrana and Apuccini mountain passes. Some just act like vicious toll collectors, extorting merchant caravans for safe passage across "their" territory, while others just try and outright loot the merchandise.>However, there are much worse things than bandits in the hills and crags; trolls, manticores, griffins and other such beasts call the tall peaks their home, while the surrounding areas are their hunting grounds.>But there's one inhabitant of these mountains that can be found both looting trade convoys and protecting them from being looted: the ogre.>Tilean's are a practical bunch. "If you can't beat them, make them an offer" is a common phrase among them, and thus the ogres that inhabit the surrounding mountain ranges often find themselves as hired muscle to protect trade routes, act as shock troops for mercenary armies or as a tool of intimidation in the web of intrigues that are tilean politics.>Bragg's Brutes are one of these ogre bands in the service of El Don Bigote's Company. Having been attracted by the promise of pay and (more importantly) good food courtesy of the armies halfling cooks, they can be found in the battlefield smashing lesser foes aside with a combination of sheer brutality and dim intelligence that makes them ideal (if messy) assault troops.>When not in combat, they can be found helping around in the camps kitchen, since ogres and halflings have an amicable enough relationship (some scholars chalking it up to their shared love of food, while other nosier scholars have ended up as food), where Bragg and his mates laugh at Arghi Niano's terrible jokes with gusto.
>>97665463When I introduce an ogre maneater unit into my DoW army I will mention that there are different ogre "subspecies" to explain the difference in rules as well as lore, since ogre kingdoms came after the generic ogres in tabletop>Arghi Niano’s Hot Pot>“An army marches on its stomach” is a phrase that any mercenary commander worth their salt keeps in mind, and thus the employ of skillful cooks than be used not only to feed the army but to attract potential recruits as well. And there are no better cooks than halflings.>Arghi Niano and his assistants can usually be found preparing the armies chow and making bad jokes, but when the need arises, they’ll construct one of the famous halfling hot pots to launch boiling soup at the enemy (although not without some heavy persuasion). Other than that, he would also like it if that wizard Nicodemus would leave them alone and stop trying to sell them on the idea of grand adventures…Apart from Lumpin Croop, I am tempted to add a small unit of 10-12 regular halfling archers to represent Arghi Nianos kitchen staff/"procurers" of supplies
>>97665469>Tosca’s Kiss>While gunpowder weapons aren’t very common in Tilea, their use is highly valued by the many city states, merchant families and mercenary companies for their destructive power. Especially when the Bretonnian’s start getting funny ideas where the borders lay.>Tosca’s Kiss is a cannon lighter than those used by the Empire, mainly due to how much a mercenary army moves around but is no less lethal for it. Many an enemy has received a “kiss” farewell from the barrel of this weapon, and its presence in the battlefield (or negotiation table) can make more than one foe change their mind. Those who don’t will soon learn the error of their way, often far too late. The monkey is named Amelio by the way. And that's the "generic" merc units I have painted and with my own fluff. The fact that Tilea has little "hard" lore gives plenty of wiggle room to make ones own

>>97665905Surprised cathay wasn't enough to push it into the top 10 desu. Where's that one tard with his "space marine numbers"
Are jade lancers really as bad as people say? The sculpts are too good for them to be so bad.
>>97666022They’re fucking useless and don’t have much of a role even with ambushers.
>>97666022Fight in extra rank seems cool for cavalry, but they are rather pillow-fisted. I guess you could give them spirit lanterns for terror tests and that banner for impact hits, but it doesn't still solve the problem of their average statlines.
>>97665713America is GWs largest market, for all their games.
>>97665943I wouldn’t count on chaos getting as much as cathay and presumably kislev, they're not a new army after all.
>>97666022They aren't Pegasus knights so naturally they are useless trash cav.
If the reveals are for chaos and not wood elves I dont think I can have it in me to care for what comes out of tow.
More GW rebranding into just Warhammer, this time Paint!
>>97666278>helpful for the asian market >secondary proof brandingthe only thing missing is a sneaky price hike or enshittification of the formula regardless of the claim it's the same paint
>>97666256They're going to be for chaos.
>>97666291price hike will come when GW unvails it's Pro Paint range.tbf it's an area where GW actually has competition from large well-known paint brands

>>97666836It must be exhausting
>>97666328Looks great, chaos midge
>>97666836>wood elves are rumored to AT BEST get 2-3 new kits alongside with tomb kingsI guess it depends on just how big these new starter sets are going to be, probably like 2-3 normal units each, maybe a big semi-centrepiece, and then a couple of characters
>>97665943GW would be able to a large Kislev army quicker than Cathay if they made use of more duel kits. Stuff like Streltsi could be made out of the same kit as Armoured Kossars/Tzar Guard.I think to begin with a balanced Kislev army should be somthing like this.>Boyar/Druzhina (BSB)>Ice Witch/Ice Maiden>Kossars>Winged Lancers/Gryphon Legion>Ungol Horse Archers>Streltsi/Tzar Guard/Armoured Kossars>Ice Guard>War Sled (Horses)/Heavy War Sled (Bears)(Streltsi or Cannon options)>War Bear Riders (Includes mounted Ice Witch and Boyar options in kit)>Elemental Bear

>>97666886

>>97667300Unfortunately it is not new. Some people really are just that retarded. Probably the same clowns who shat and pissed themselves in the 90s and early 00s if someone dared to use dry brushing as that was also considered to be a low brow "cheat" at the time in some areas.

They're basically the equivalent of Empire Knights, but then you remember that Demigryph Knights exist, and that they basically do double the damage of normal knights for the same points.
>>97668492But Cathay doesn't have access to Demigryphs. You have to judge what an army has relative to itself more so than relative to others (but both are still relevant). What other unit in the Cathay roster can you use as medium cav?

>>97670002Wrong thread buddy
Do Greenskins have the most thematic variation of all armies? You've got normal Orks and Goblins, Trolls, Nomads, Forest Goblins, Savage Orks, Night Goblins. Not even counting stuff that hasn't had a model in decades like Hobgoblins. It's like if all of the Human factions were just rolled into one army book. Also semi related, do Savage Orks typically have Goblins with them? I figured there's not much for them to do since I feel like Savage Orks don't make much. If they do bother with Goblins, are they savage Goblins?
