Is there a bot programmed to go to other 40k threads outside these generals to demand models posted or is it just an autist or group of autists? I’m not sure.

My Seer Council is eating good with the changes, though I can't try my list out for a few more weeks. I almost had enough point cost reductions to add in more Rangers.

Interesting, I threw together this list with the new points and it's a whopping 50 points lower after the update. This is what I'll be testing next. It has all of my favorite models except Celestine.

>GW fucked up all marine releases for 9 fucking years and this entire thread exists to discuss the hobby around these miniatures, why are you upset?
The fact that they still haven't shitcanned Primaris completely in almost a decade is an aggravating, not a mitigating, factor. I'm going to continue chimping out harder every year.
>>
>>98389344
your tard wrangler should never have let you have internet access
>>
>>98389344
Primaris were a wild success and firstborn are just a liability to GW now. They gave you a containment game to go play with your little men in without ever having to hear the word Primaris mentioned.
>>
>>98389358
>Primaris were a wild success
There is literally zero proof of this and the evidence we have suggests that they were a mistake being walked back, just slowly. That's why the 10th edition Terminator refresh didn't touch their designs or replace them with a Primaris unit and the first advertised selling point of the 11th ed set was "look some models have old Firstborn helmets".
>>
>>98389358
>They gave you a containment game
You're retarded if you think this counts. It doesn't have most of the 40k factions. I don't want to play marines vs marines only. I want to play with marines (real, proper, not primaris tranny shit) vs my friends orks and tyranids and necrons.
>>
>>98389393
>There is literally zero proof of this
other than ex-GW employees saying they saved the company from bankruptcy
>>
Warp storms/travel causing time fuckery means that it's possible for a ship full of primaris to be sent back to the siege of Terra.
>>
>>98389393
>There is literally zero proof of this and the evidence we have suggests that they were a mistake being walked back, just slowly.
A few bits of old-looking armour on some pushfit primaris intercessors are not walking anything back.
>>
>>98389405
You don't have to resort to hearsay, just read the financial reports. They're a public company.
>>
>>98389405
They said contrast paint did that.

>>98389417
The financial reports don't say anything about which kits made money. Primaris supporters try to claim the big boost in 8th edition was because of Primaris but never mention the fact that the entire game got a massive surge in popularity because it was the biggest rules refresh ever and everyone who ever played it came flooding back and the entire webstore sold out of nearly every kit for EVERY army. All my friends play xenos and bought hundreds or thousands of dollars of shit at the start of 8th, none of it was marines.
>>
>>98389417
Yes but then anon would have to face the facts that Primaris didn't save the company as it didn't need saving (but like all corps they needed more money).
>>
>>98389241
This is all the proof I need to side with the manlet autists and hate primaris honestly.
>>
>>98389412
Not enough, certainly. That's why the 11th ed box is less popular than the 10th ed one which had proper Terminators.
>>
>>98389407
primaris were already a thing during the horus heresy, cawl kept them all on ice until the day GW coincidentally needed to refresh the entire marine range with newer super marines.

Except, you know, the massive increase in revenue GW have experienced since they were released. They may not be particularly good, but they certainly sold very many units, and space marine players bought entire new armies.

>Except, you know, the massive increase in revenue GW have experienced since they were released.
Already addressed >>98389435

There is zero proof it was PRIMARIS responsible for that boost and not 8th edition itself.
>>
Imagine hating Primaris. Sorry the lore didn’t get stuck in edgelord 13 year old mindset of the 90s. The lore and characters actually have to evolve.
>>
>>98389241
Usually the troons do tyranids. This is refreshing.
>>
I've decided to quit 40k again. I am so sick of GW's shitty business practices. I originally quit after the 8th edition launch but came back due to boredom during 10th. Now that I've seen what 11th is shaping up to be I am quitting again.

Long before recorded history, the Emperor was the last survivor of a forgotten xenos civilization that mastered the Warp but fell to its corruption. Hiding his true origins, he guided humanity in secret for millennia, determined to prevent history from repeating itself. Only during the Horus Heresy did the consequences of his ancient past finally catch up with him.

It isn't addressed at all. Primaris space marines have been the predominant type of space marine played in 40k games for the last 10 years and during that time frame and space marines have maintained their disproportionate tabletop representation (though anecdotally it does seem to have gone down somewhat) even early on when they were mechanically bad. That couldn't possibly have happened if people were not buying them. New players would be buying primaris models, and existing players were replacing models with primaris ones, so sale of primaris models would necessarily have been a large revenue driver.

You can however see from what they did afterwards what they consider mistakes to be because they made new terminators, sternguard and now vanguard veterans.

...that might work actually. Thank you
>>
I've said it before and I'll probably say it many times in the future.

If the primaris update was simply Cawl saying he invented some nice new armor and guns and vehicles, nobody would care. He just handed out new toys to marines. That's it. The sculpts just updated them to be a better scale and proportions.

The thing people hated was replacing marines with bigger better marines. It's literally the bigger batman scenario. All of the lore about them actually being older and the ORIGINAL marines and all that shit is what people didn't like.

So GW mishandled what could have been a simple gear update and did it in a way that made people say it was lame. When they could have just kept it simple and marines got new toys and that's it.

That being said, the people who say firstborn actually look better visually are completely deluded. The primaris intercessors are a factually better scale and don't look like they're squatting and have more poses and natural design decisions. If you asked a billion people who had no idea what they were looking at which one looks better, the vast, vast majority would say primaris. It's just a simple fact. So while we can say that GW mishandled the lore because someone had the idiotic bigger batman idea, to say the models themselves are worse is just pure delusion born from not liking the way the lore was handled.
>>
Unironically instead of orks it should have been Exodites vs. Greater Knarloc
>no one like kroot!
But greater knarloc is cool and most importantly would have been a good NPO. Throw in a unit of fire warriors. Tau invading a maiden world with their kroot auxiliaries. That would be a good jungle box.

Or at least ork kill team
>>
>>98389999
People would like kroot of kroot had enough shit to be playable, which is not that far off.
>>
>>98389999
Should've been Catachan.
>>
>>98390044
Catachan vs. Knarloc npo with Kroot carnivores fluffing the box is a possibility that makes sense with the stuff GW hasn't refreshed so I know GW will be nogs and fuck it up.

Size upgrade was fine and good
What wasn't good was the ugly over-complication of the primaris design

The cuirass looks like a sports bra
The knee flares are ugly
The helmet design looks like a Motorcross helmet (I know it's based on mk4 and I don't care) instead of funny angry boy D:<
The tacticool gun loses the elegant simplicity of the bolter and just looks like a generic rifle
Replacing tracked vehicles with hovering vehicles has distanced 40k further from its "WW2/medieval" inspiration towards generic sci-fi
Lots of additional greebles on every model is a pain to paint en masse

It all sucks visually it isn't just a lore thing

There's 1 strat in 1 detachment and 1 giga overpriced character that allows you to move shoot move.
>>
>>98398903
Yes. If you're wondering why Eldar are near the bottom of the winrates in 11th, that's why. They had to gut Eldar multiple times in 10th just to stop the complaints. The final batch of nerfs weren't even necessary, but GW was moving on old man momentum where even as winrates were moving into par territory with other factions, they were still receiving feedback from WAACfags who never learned how to deal with move shoot move against Tau or Eldar, so they took that away from the Eldar as well, just for good measure.

Yup. Every army that had arguably too good of a performance - - Orks, Sisters, TSons etc - got dumpstered way too hard.

Is this the right thread for kill team discussion? I am going to be getting into it with a friend soon. I have a Heirotek Circle Necron Kill Team and he has a Kasrkyn(sp?) kill team. I am getting to know the rules and one rule I am confused about is cover and line of sight. If an enemy is in cover and you have line of sight, they can be shot correct? What if you a positioned at a enemies flank and they are "in cover"?

So what really determines line of sight and what cover bonuses something gets?
>>
>>98401146
Normally the ideal thread for such questions would be /ktg/ or /gwsg/ which also happens to include Kill Team in its umbrella. /ktg/ is usually dead outside of new releases however, and /gwsg/ is full of fun-hating third worlders who shit on Kill Team for no reason. So yes, you can field your question here.
>If an enemy is in cover and you have line of sight, they can be shot correct? What if you a positioned at a enemies flank and they are "in cover"?
If there is any 'intervening' cover in a mini's control range (the 1" radius around any mini), they gain the benefits of that cover. The cover MUST be intervening, meaning if you draw a shooting arc from your shooting model to the target model, the cover must fall within that arc to count. If the cover is NOT intervening in your model's shooting arc, it does not count. If the cover is intervening but NOT within the 1" control range of the target model, it does not count. BOTH conditions (intervening AND in control range) must be fulfilled for a miniature to gain the benefits of cover. See the Cover section here for more details and some helpful images: https://wahapedia.ru/kill-team3/the-rules/core-rules/#Cover
>So what really determines line of sight and what cover bonuses something gets?
Line of sight is as simple as "when you draw an arc from any point on your currently active model, is any part of the enemy model visible?" Can your model see the enemy model or not? A full wall between them means there is no line of sight. A window between them, or a gap in a wall, means there is line of sight, but if that window or wall gap is within the control circle of the target mini, the target benefits from cover.
Hope that helps.
>>
>>98401146
>What if you a positioned at a enemies flank and they are "in cover"?
Sorry, I meant to answer this question as well and forgot. The simple answer is that if you fully flank a target model, and you have a clear shooting arc without anything intervening, they won't get any cover. Flanking is therefore quite effective in KT.

They're all clones of the Emperor himself with one of his own aspects magnified and fashioned after many of the heroes of earth that actually were him. Horus slaying Sanguinius was a too-late wakeup call to the emperor because he literally watched the personification of his ambition willingly submit to chaos and kill the personification of his love for humanity.

So where is it that we're limited to 3 named datasheets in the rules, now? The updated field manual leads one to believe that that is no longer the case. I've looked through the faction pack books and the field manual and the core rules, but nothing says we're limited to 3 datasheets anymore. The new points updates say 3rd+ units have a different cost and that's it.

also these model and unit taxes are retarded. Just make it a base cost for taking that model or unit. And stop charging for extra wargear unless we go back to the previous edition 5-10 pts for an upgrade without a restriction on how many we can take.
>>
>>98402555
The most recent balance update is an utter shitshow in formatting. There's rules in so many different places. It could be in the MFM, the tournament companion, core rules, universal rules updates... so who the fuck knows. It's somewhere.

Tau Crisis Suits? Though I guess it technically doesn't qualify now they've split them into three datasheets.

I don't think you can find any Leagues of Votann army without at least some Hearthguard.

Morvenn Vahl+Paragons is pretty much the only reliable anti-tank the sisters have, though some people might try to make do with immolators and volume of fire.

The only Ork army without Trukks are pure speed freaks armies, and I'm not sure there are many of those.
>>
>>98402871
Necromunda is the best game GW makes but you need to make sure your area has an active scene and the players aren't dickheads. If so, buy a box of the gang you like and get all the rules from necroraw. You don't need more than that to play.

For terrain there's dozens of more affordable options then GW. Most groups like a lot of verticality and people running across catwalks or falling to their deaths.
>>
>>98402786
In general auto-take units are more common in smaller roster armies with fewer options than in larger armies who can pivot between two competing options based on points and various rules changes. But some are fundamental to the identity of a faction across several editions.

AdMech will always have one of their two battleline units (usually vanguard) because half their army rules are enabled by them. Chaos Knights will always have Wardogs with different loadouts because that's the only good unit they have. Grey Knights will always have Dreadknights because they have a very small roster and it's their only source of anti tank. World Eaters are stuck on Exalted Eightbound for similar reasons. And kind of Emperor's Children with their Winged Demon Prince. Chaos Demons run Belakor because he is just too damn good and is the only unit that has all the keywords. Dark eldar will always have transports because their army is built around using them to go fast and they can't split their units up into smaller groups without them. Sisters of Battle are stuck on Morven Vahl and Paragon Suits right now because they are too loaded with all their good rules, but this hasn't always been the case and may change again. Same with Eldar and Eldrad or Space Marines and the Combi-Lieutenant.
