Yeah that Sh Figuarts Sakura is nice. I think there is only 2 figures i really regret not getting at the time. That Sakura and Sentinel Riobot Falcon armor X.
Also i think I saw that Sakura for 30ish but I had stopped collecting street fighter back then.

just started watching the show and it's pretty cool

what's the verdict on figures though? figma, buzzmod, or SHF?

No idea. I remember seeing it on Mandarake shortly after release for 20k yen and thought huh? There was was after on Jungle for 8,800 and I almost got it just because it was still retail, but I already have the buzzmod so don't need it.
The same thing recently happened with Katana man from Chainsawman. Not sure why but the villains have become a lot more popular recently.
>>
>>11674641
>The figmas are the worst. Smaller scale
Kind of wished I had waited for the figma Inosuke because of the scale. He does have that unsightly ML torso hinge, though, and his snorting effect is locked in a bullshit DX release.
>>
>>11674694
>figma Inosuke
The buzzmod is a lot better though and better scalled with SHF. Ultimately though I think the SHF will be the best when it comes.
>>
>>11674759
Yeah, I'm fine with my BM Inosuke as a figure, I just wanted one that would pair well with some of my figma sword-swingers.

So HLJ is getting worse and JP shipping is getting out of control so I've decided to ship out my PW just to get it done before I have to start paying fees on them. Just asking if anyone has experience doing the same, did you bite the bullet and ship all at once or is it better to split them up?
If you're wondering mix of mainly model kits, but also a few figures like figmas and nendos.
And I guess anyone else pulling out of importing because of this?
19 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>11673091
Batch shipping is still cheaper but its way more expensive than it was 6 months ago, and of course most stores don't actually let you batch ship.
The real wallet killer is stores like goodsmile who are filling out the paperwork correctly, I just paid $48 in tariff for 1 figure from them where I paid less than that for 3 figures from hlj.
>>
>>11673112
Why not ship to a mail forwarder's warehouse in some country that's not affected by tariffs? Many of them will hold your stuff for free for about a month and you can combine shipments from multiple stores into one. Buyee and the like can do this too but you'll be fucked by Japan's local 10% sales tax + tariffs, which is why I'm thinking it might be best to ship to another country first.
>>
>>11673116
there is no country that doesn't have tariffs for the u.s. it automatically starts at 10%
>>
>>11673091
me personally yes, I costed out what Snail Shell's Kitsunebi Senki Honoka would roughly cost from Amiami compared to my local store.
for me, post the shipping and import taxes it would land at roughly 140 usd (I am not American so its not what you would pay) and locally they'd sell it for 150 with free shipping, and the local store is easier to work with in case of issues, so yeah local stores from now on, I'm only gonna use Mandarake and maybe Amiami for in stock second hand stuff from now on and even then that will be rare.
>>
>>11672257
Even splitting isn't great.
Just shipping my kits alone would be $300 at this point. (I want my fucking snek, man.)
I am not pulling out but I have gotten VERY selective. I have started using western retailers for the lines that they don't overcharge too crazily for like Figuarts and impulse buys are over.

I got into them since 2020(star wars) and I'm starting to bow out.

They are good, yes.

They are not really toys, because of their scale they are just harder to handle, less pleasing to hold, they turn into pseudo-statues because quickly you learn to put it in a pose and leave it alone on the shelf.

Some are slop, yes. new media star wars, marvel. They look ugly when you have a horde of them on display, just are a mess of plastic and cloth.

At this stage, if you really want to dive in, I recommend only sticking to a few and buying your absolute favorite character(s). 1/12 has really caught up in quality and if there's a 1/12 offering that you really like, just buy that.

I've been collecting them for years but have had to downsize recently.
>are they good?
Very, but the new artesian line has issues with the realistic hair.
>are they even toys?
Kind of, a lot of the ones with full-body costumes have limited flexibility and are hard to pose and leaving them in a pose could stretch out the material used.
>are they slop?
They're the furthest away from slop in terms of quality but they're big name brands like Marvel so if that's slop then yes.
>what's the general consensus of hot toys because every time i come across a hot toys collector, they just don't seem all that intelligent
They cost hundreds of dollars so I doubt people who buy them in large quantities like myself are very smart. I've been cutting down as back then I was buying very impulsively and some things I really don't need a 1/6 scale figure of. The good thing is they retain their value and sell sometimes higher than what I paid for depending on the character.
>>
I've always wondered who buys these multi thousand dollar statues of movie characters. Then I saw this and I think I know now.
>>
I got into Hot Toys around 2015 or so when an anon here bought a HT Iron Man accidentally when he was getting his friend a gift and got into them for a bit. He helped disspell a lot of preconceived ideas about them like a lack of articulation, and while they aren't Revoltech level he was ale to show off Iron Man posing well. He was also finding some decent prices under $200 on some figures as well.
There was actually some great deals on Mandarake at the time and you could get a bunch of figures for $150 shipped. Like Silver Centurion Iron Man.
That said, both the price and the quality has increased to the point where it's frustrating and too expensive for me to be into them. There's also so many versions of characters you end up double dipping or constantly upgrading It just stopped being fun, and my OCD would flare up when an even more expensive company like InArt would offer a better, pricier version and then the cheaper, lesser version feels pointless. stylized toys will always have their own niche, but with a replica style toy the point will partly be the be the most realistic look. So anything that's not top of the line is at risk of dating quickly.
I do think the comic based figures they've been doing are cool, but also way too pricy for what I'd be willing to spend.
>>
>>11674563
Yeah, they’re great for Iron Man and they’ve made some absolute beauties. I don’t really love anything else they’ve made that has excess soft goods, but they do good Iron Men.

Figured I'd make a thread since no one else cared to, but for that one anon from the last thread that was having a meltdown because of the Goldar in the Target Exclusive multi-pack, someone found a single card release at a Target in Chicago. Anyway, talk about Power Ranger now. Or don't.

Upcoming releases:
No one knows or cares

Update just in case you or anybody does get curious: I managed to fix like 90% of the issue. The smaller parts that broke off just can't fit anymore due to the nature of stuff shifting as I glued stuff. Probably not the best idea that I drank coffee today with like 3 hours of sleep cause I was being paranoid about trying to fix the mech. I considered my job fucked cause I knew where the connecting parts are gonna contact but I was shaking so I shifted it ever so slightly. Now the mech has a gaping hole around it's lower armpit area lol. Sucks that for a vintage diecast mech, the diecast is the one that broke. Was expecting plastic issues not metal. Also can't really clamp them as there's no way to. I was holding the pieces for a minute then letting it go. Seems to be solid enough
>>
>>11674152
Sorry to see it that. At least it isn't a total loss.
>>
>>11674636
Found out I can fix that hole by using some epoxy putty then just painting it over. It's a small spot that won't be noticeable anyways and the part was originally paint black from the start so it's really easy to cover the imperfections.
>>
>>11668022
I guess you were right. My Target had two Baboos and a Goldar today. Now I wait in anxiety for Squatt's release.

As the title suggests, what are some toys that hold up really well in spite of being quite old?
I'd say a lot older Figmas are still quite good even by today's standards. In particular I'd single out the Madoka Magica Figmas- they capture the characters extremely well and for the most part are really fun, poseable expressive toys.

It sounds like it's most likely a case of Mexican tariffs will cause Hasbro to take a big loss on it.
>>
>>11663406
All corporate PR statement sound like chatGPT. It doesn't really matter. It could be a human fake message or a chatGPT fake message either way. We won't know until toy sites start widely reporting it. And if it's just Mexico affected they may not even do so on english speaking toy news sites.
>>
sad, no excuse is good enough for this
>>
>>11663375
Hasbro is exiting the toy industry altogether with their move from Pawtucket to the Seaport.
>>
I highly doubt this has anything to do with Hasbro. Hasbro Pulse doesn't ship to Mexico, so we buy them through 3rd parties, in this case this toy store (think like getting it through BBTS). I bought a few from them with no issues (the Dragonfly and the Rattler). This communication reads more like the store had issues on their own with getting the cantinas and are blaming Hasbro.

Is all mg gonna be this kind of hands? Or am I wrong since I also saw some being not? How do I know? I ve been a dedicated hg buyers(not collector) and honestly,it's been pretty boresome with those, plug unplug hands, fingers
