Post action figures you used to fetishize as a kid
>>11658328I fanatically loved the movie Hook, so if they packaged a piece of shit with the Hook logo, I'd have wanted that too
>>11656768i'm still kicking myself for not picking this up mint in a bargainbin of my local toy shop years agothey became insane on the aftermarketand besides liking unreal tournament 2004 i would enjoy a (sloppy) 1/12 shock rifle
>>11654408OG Optimus. I was slightly too young to get into Transformers in it's heyday but I caught the show on reruns a few years later. My older cousin used to have a lot of the toys since he was the perfect age in the 80s to get them, but few survived his childhood.I used to really want an Optimus but they were not found any longer. My neighbors, these two girls somehow did have one in their pile of toys so I played with theirs for a while. I managed to grab the reissue one later on when Gen 2 came out.
>fetishizeNon-sexual or sexual? The original non-sexual meaning is more like idolize and project yourself onto. For me, it was Sci-Fi from the Battleforce 2000 line. I made him my own character stand in for myself. Even more than that mail away figure you could name after yourself.
>>11654412>>11656803This was my fav Technic figure.

>>11660654And where are those bootlegs then? If only Jazwares is making the mon I want, then ill give my money to Jazwares
>>11660615>P-Bandai impossible to get on for anyone outside of JapanYou mean ordering from PB, not PB releases, right? Because Europe doesn't have the supply problem. We can usually get PB releases from stores here well after release. Only EEs and some IPs like Kamen Rider and Star Wars are a pain because of distribution rights.
>>11660645>mfw I have to use the mega construx as placeholder
>>11660767He's just too far from the camera so the renderer switched to his low poly version, please understand.
How do you feel about buying toys of stuff from movies you haven't seen, games you haven't played, etc? Not just like, I collect Marvel Legends and I haven't read any of the comics featuring this character but she looks cool so I'm adding her to my collection. I'm talking full on, this is from a property you know nothing about, if anyone asks you anything based on the assumption that you must be familiar with the source material you'll just have to shrug.Like, I like this vaguely evil looking chick. Never played Final Fantasy 16, have no plans to, have no idea who she is or what her deal is. But cool toy, kinda want it.
>>11657126Buy what you actually like. If you like it because it looks cool, then you have a reason to buy it. It's better than buying 100 boring bitches like Mon Mothman or Jocasta Mi that you bought just because you like Star Wars. That was my mistake. I should have just stuck to Cantina and Jabba's palace because I like the freaky aliens.
>>11657126I will not only buy figures from franchises I know nothing about, I have actually bought figures from franchises I actively *dislike*. I hate Overwatch and Fortnite as games, but I love some of their character designs and have figures from both lines. Fortnite especially had a LOT of good figures across four distinctly different toylines. I've also gotten Figma of characters from Fate and Shield Hero despite not caring about the former and actually hating the latter, because I felt they'd work well in my JRPG party. Even back as a kid/teen, I grabbed two different Art of War Guts figures because articulated fantasy figures were so rare and they both were really cool toys. At that point I didn't even know what Berserk was and couldn't even figure out the character's name since it was in half Japaneses. I'm a toy "collector" first and foremost, everything else is secondary. If the toy looks cool or the character looks interesting...and the price isn't too prohibitive...I'll certainly pick it up.
>>11657386>>11658902There's 2 types of collectors and a ton of overlap. The first is "character" collectors, who just want a representation of whatever MCU, tv show or anime they like. This is why funkos exist, some people just want their character in some form. The second are toy collectors, who buy toys based on the toy itself, rather than the franchise it's attached to. I assumed there was a ton of overlap between the 2, like I buy all Classified because I love Gi Joe, but also buy shit I don't know about and looks cool, and then some military toys of franchises I don't know because it could fit with Joes.
>>11657482It's Boring as fuck tho, some movies are good but thats itGunplas are really cool tho, wish they make other model kits with that quality and ease of build
>>11657482Gundam is like every mainstream anime. It's story progression or action scene for 3 minutes, and dialogue for the rest of the 17. Gundam isn't even about the robots, it's about the pilots who do nothing whether they're driving them or not. Also all gundams look the same, they're either Zaku or the humanoids with forehead gold crests

So, we'll be able to torso swap this with some bare skintone 2.0 figures and make true mermaid right? Mermaid is one of the few mythical I'm missing in my shelf
>>11660335Yes they showed a photo of them doing exactly that in their isntagram
>>11660123Shirtless Orc pirate with the Jacob Marley coat was very much on my wishlist. As for Legion Builders, I hope they drop a Reinforcements 3, they suggested some surprises in the January sale but at this point I have very low expectations. >Flat is justiceI'm a fan of some DFC as well, but I never saw that phone dial torso as being remotely female. I just think the ambiguity was more about his race then his gender, but if I'm wrong I'll be happy to admit it if they ever v2 him. >>11660335Pretty much any 2.0 torso will work on the fish tail, it's honestly the main reason I got her. Getting extra torso and arms and heads are easy, getting extra crotch pieces and legs, that's always the tricky part. That said, here's hoping they drop a new army builder with this body to make this swap with, because the only recent options are all kind of pricey. Though this might make that Female Orc Legion Builder set all the more valuable.
>>11660397Is there a figure with hair like that but red?
>>11660588Not with that head no, but there was a red head in an accessory pack that could suit your needs. So far the head in the other post has been used four times, the blond head in the pic from a cosmic head pack, the original white hair/white skin from Thraice, a black hair/blue skin version from Azza 2 and a blue hair/orange skin version from the Cosmic figure Kalian Shunn. It's probably one of the best female faces they make on the market, but more should be coming soon so hopefully we'll get more variety.

>>11660424He refuses to do number ratings logically. He should just give figures letter grades between A and F since that is what his rating scale is based off.
>>11660549He actually prefers aesthetic far over articulation
>>11660553as a high level trade off sure but when he's dogging a figure for basic mistakes it's usually incompetent articulation, characters with badly set legs, terrible range in the torso, lollipop necks, etc.
>>11660549He doesn't care about limitations if he likes the sculpt/the company. Also this is the same guy who used to be (is still?) against toe hinges and butterflies because "they don't add anything and only look ugly".His articulated figure line that he was going to wow the entire world with is also dead in the water.

Good for you dude.
>>11660402Thanks! Dude, it's so fun to just stare at, lol! I love LPS so much and I finally have the magnum opus of plastic animals. I gotta get more honestly cause just this is so much fun
I love variant rabbit holes, thanks to those that collect and publish this info for us lazy anons to find. I made this thread to see if anyone has random variant sites, pics, fun to share.
>>11660344There are days where it's hard to rationalize what I spent to friends and family. It's even harder with "YEAH I GOT THIS FIGURE ALREADY, BUT THIS ONE HAS A BLUE SABER AND A SLIGHTLY-DIFFERENT COLOR OF HAIR!"
>>11660344there's a bunch of power of the force oddities, there's a proto stormtrooper with a viewmaster like feature drilled into his head, it kind of works, also potf Chewbacca was originally supposed to be flocked
>>11660344I do like a subtle variant! The original Beast Wars Cheetor comes in green-, blue- and red-eyed versions.
lot of news today for FNAF toyswaves 3 confirmed
So do none of the Toy Chicas come with the black eyed beakless face? Seems like a major missed opportunity since that is her attack animation and coolest look.

I see they now branch into Bayverse too, I saw many Transformers G1 AMK Mini Series figures at my local store, are they good? I might get them. I like that they are cheap and wonder if the quality is good.

OK honest opinions, please. I had gotten a shit-grade Bandai FF8 Edea as a place-holder until a better one came along, (and it did). So now that I have two I decided to paint the placeholder one all-black in place of the Bandai paint job. Ignoring the frayed capes and missing crown pieces, does it look better in all-black or how Bandai painted it?
>>11658675Sorry about the shit picture. For some reason my camera phone wanted to focus on the high point of the base of the dress then blur everything else.
FITHOS
>>11658675Feels like a mix of them would be better, the original paintjob gradient starts a bit early and ends very light. Conceptually I like the right hand side more.
>>11658682kek
For me I exclusively collect domestic live action capeshit figures
Transformers mostly. Like I think the only thing that comes close is Hot Wheels cars as a kid, and I think those might have been surpassed in number by robots at this point.
>>11654238A bit of everything. Marvel, Dragon Ball, DC, Pokemon and Kamen Rider. I only buy characters that I absolutely love.
>>11654238My collection when I was a kid:>Sylvanian families>1/12 dollhouse stuffMy collection now:>Sylvanian families>1/12 dollhouse stuff>figma>shf>revoltech>snail shell>sentinel>basically any figure from a show or manga I like that will fit with my dollhouse objects >sometimes transformersI just really like setting up scenes with my tiny furniture and such.
>>11654238Primarily collect Monster High dolls. I've also got a few statues of certain characters I love. Tried collecting action figures for a while but realized I'm not really into the small stuff so only have a handful left.
>>11654238Half random figs from pop culture - Mars Attacks, Universal horror etc.Half random generic non-IP stuff (XesRay, D13) or figures that at least looks generic. I quite like plain figures, like a simple lizardman or a skeleton.
