Got this bad boy as a Christmas gift today and so far, I think it's pretty sick. Haven't opened him yet but despite it not being mainline Bowser, the heftiness and detailing is awesome. Also just like the more menacing design compared to his main counterpart. How would you rank him amongst the other Bowser figures, /toy/? Post/discuss other Super Mario toys too and Merry Christmas!
>>11661345I don't think I see him. He's 50% off right nowhttps://www.hallmark.com/ornaments/keepsake-ornaments/mini-nintendo-super-mario-goomba-ornament-1-5QXM9392.html
>>11659774>>11659827The closest they got was the Applause pvc figurines that came out around 1989. But those mostly sold in collectable shops and book stores, like all the Applause figurines. The Mario 3 McDonalds toy was one of these with different paint and raccoon ears and a tail added.

>>11661811Dude I loved these. In Canada they were given out at Shell gas stations I think? There was a TV commercial where it was like the first stage of SMB but the flag at the end was the shell logo. I buged my parents to go there and get me some. The year 1989 is legit because from my life history I can tell that's the year the commercial would have been running.Shit dude wow that picture blew my mind. I am going to collect these now.
>>11662886Cool. I always enjoy a toy with chompy mouth action.

>>11662406Hes very fun to pose, the arms are quite posable. and the other articulations actually fairly good. hes really fun, the only downside is forever stuck on the stand. but hes a great select, id say get him before hes gone
>>11662406Deoxys isnt Marvel Legends or something, so it wont do what they do. Bendy arms will crack no matter how long you own it, even though it hasnt even happened yet. If you need it to stand up, you can remove the base and keep the stand arm attached to it. Also you can get it at Target for half off right now. Go get it, or you'll regret it

>>11662560>>11662612Thanks. Regarding the stand thing I like how they're gonna be switching to the one with multiple holes at the base in the future. It's gonna be nice to have 2 humanoids like Deoxys and someone else like Scizor on one base.

Let's have a little general talking about pocket playsets. Polly Pocket, Mighty Max, Micro Machines, etc.I had this set as I was a kid. Once we took a ridiculously long road trip and my dad got me this set at the beginning, and thankfully, it was the only thing that kept me entertained through that test of intestinal fortitude. No idea where it ended up.Anyway talk about your favorite play features. For fun I am going to model something similar for 3D printing. I am thinking of a space ship.

Is there a King Ghidorah that would scale decently with Motu figures? Not like perfectly because Ghidorah is huge but enough that he would still look imposing.

What do we do to stop shf from getting worse each year while raising the prices. There hasn't been a SINGLE release without issues in years now. The new goku is practially a landmine of QC issues and let's not even start with how low quality the one piece and mha line are...or god forbid, the berserk figures.

How do you feel about buying toys of stuff from movies you haven't seen, games you haven't played, etc? Not just like, I collect Marvel Legends and I haven't read any of the comics featuring this character but she looks cool so I'm adding her to my collection. I'm talking full on, this is from a property you know nothing about, if anyone asks you anything based on the assumption that you must be familiar with the source material you'll just have to shrug.Like, I like this vaguely evil looking chick. Never played Final Fantasy 16, have no plans to, have no idea who she is or what her deal is. But cool toy, kinda want it.
>>11657386>>11658902There's 2 types of collectors and a ton of overlap. The first is "character" collectors, who just want a representation of whatever MCU, tv show or anime they like. This is why funkos exist, some people just want their character in some form. The second are toy collectors, who buy toys based on the toy itself, rather than the franchise it's attached to. I assumed there was a ton of overlap between the 2, like I buy all Classified because I love Gi Joe, but also buy shit I don't know about and looks cool, and then some military toys of franchises I don't know because it could fit with Joes.
>>11657482It's Boring as fuck tho, some movies are good but thats itGunplas are really cool tho, wish they make other model kits with that quality and ease of build
>>11657482Gundam is like every mainstream anime. It's story progression or action scene for 3 minutes, and dialogue for the rest of the 17. Gundam isn't even about the robots, it's about the pilots who do nothing whether they're driving them or not. Also all gundams look the same, they're either Zaku or the humanoids with forehead gold crests
I think you’re getting hung up on the belief that people will judge you as a fake fan or an inauthentic person for having a toy from a thing you don’t know or care about. But just appreciating the aesthetics of a really good character design isn’t in any way shallow or inauthentic.I’m a big Star Wars action figure collector, which is due in part to the fact that I like the Lucas Star Wars movies, but it’s also a simple product of the fact that I really like the costumes and weapons used in the movies, too. I would probably collect Star Wars figures even if I wasn’t a huge Star Wars fan because the designs for things like the robots, Boba Fett, the stormtroopers, darth vader, etc., are capable of standing on their own as really good designs, and would be deserving of praise independent of the existence and quality of the Star Wars multimedia franchise.

>>11659343>>11659445Saw an unboxing of that fig and wow, the changes really looked amazing. So am I right in assuming that the skull mask/helmet will be included as part of the update or what? Because I've been wanting a hulking Oni figure and I'm only willing to get it if it included the skull mask.
>>11661873>FOMO bullshitit's bad enough i get spamming emails about them"finding" oldshit that didn't sell out that they kept on claiming was on the verge of selling out, but to see new bullshit written up here is worse.
>11662095>spamming emailsSounds like a skill issue.
>>11662025I'm now 99% convinced that the skull head is a regular part. It's featured as an integral part of the figure on the box and other sylized promo materials almost to the point of being the main look, and pretty much all other stores make no mention to it being preorder only.Anon's report on Bombushbee being often wrong makes it sound like indeed they read a statement from the maker saying that existing preorders would be upgraded to the new look with the new head, and they took it as the head being preorder only.
>>11662185Yeah looking it up on various sites, and even more unboxing videos, it does seem like the skull head is being marketed as the main look for the figure and I haven't seen anyone else making mention of it being a pre-order bonus. Well I'm definitely more keen to get it now. It really looks awesome especially considering the price.
Do you have rules or some way of deciding whether you really need it
It's easy for be because I suppose my interests(that get toys anyway) are limited, I'm a bit of a snob so I don't want 5 PoA trash, and I'm a generally cheap bastard. If something is going to cost me more than $100, it better goddamn well be worth it.
>>11660849Frogposters are none of those things, and certainly not useful in any real way
I don't keep any kind of weekly/monthly/etc. limit but I have a hard rule of never spending more than $50 on a toy.I guess "hard rule" isn't quite accurate since I'll bend a bit for bundles or starter sets etc. but the sentiment is to always remember they're just toys and not something I actually *need.*
>>11661322many imports that cost $100 now are full of QC issues.
>>11661342>>11661989>tfw not american so basically everything costs you $100 dollarydoos or moreI use aliexpress some times since their shipping is cheapest and have only been scammed with kos once. but they were skeletons so luckily it didn't matter as much.
Hi everyone, my nickname is Greedo3:16 and I've been thinking about it and decided to make a custom figure of Jun Sekibayashi from the anime Kengan Ashura (since I loved the anime/manga). I chose this Blanka figure as a base; I just need to make a few modifications, cut out some parts, and paint the skin. Any advice?
>>11657243Hi greedo3:16
>>11657243The hair will probably be the hardest part, he has braids or "corn rows" curious if you could sculpt that or just use another figure with that hair style.
>>11657243If you wish to make his hair, i suggest getting some of that Greenstuff world roller stuff, some of them make thee dreads and other tendril like bits, also i suggest using the Customs general thread next time
>>11657243if it turns out good I'll make you an offer you can't refuse
>>11657243Isnt Blanka too expensive? Why not use a bootleg Zangief or Yujiro instead?
