I just counted and Rebrickable has 121 instructions available for alt builds using ONLY the one set, but plenty of other instructions for multiple sets worth or mixed with other sets. And I'd say about half of those are free to download, certainly a lot of them and many are good. One I'm most excited to try is attached picture. The instructions or it are free.I'm also super excited to just build the castle and try MOCing it up to look way cooler. So yeah I say it's worth it now at the price of $80 which I found at Target last week. Might grab another before year end just for it being a great parts pack and versatile

Many great projects on rebrickable too.In general too great sets, but in case of the ship I build the main model and don't want to do anything with it because it looks perfect (for me, personally I like brick build sails more than material ones). With castle I already rebuild it 3 times and more will follow.

Counting down my top 10 sets.Number 10 - Black Dragon Tower -At 1537 pieces its a well detailed and imposing tower that won't break our bank and leaves space on our shelves. Not much to say about it, it's my least favorite set I mention on my list. But I think it's incredibly well done and fits all my criteria for a winning set. And the classic Black Dragon Knights are in my opinion the most iconic of all the Lego faction, and in my imagination the most feared. I love both and think they together would make formidable defenses for the Wolfpack throughout the kingdom, but this would be my choice if I could only have one. Wolfstone offers everything one could want from the pack except a glow in the dark ghost or gray bird. It's a fort build into the water and had a great secret dock and raft, its a perfect reimagining of the original Wolfpack keep. I love the jail and included watchdog, but the moving gate and trap door add to the fun. It looks great as a display piece, but folds open for easier play. By far my favorite Castle set in Series-5. And then there's the low quality control and chink outsourcing. Take minifig parts from one year ago and take minifig parts from 30 years ago. The parts from one year ago are more likely to have cracks despite having 1/30 as long to develop said cracks. And the parts from one year ago have much shittier tolerances so the arms and legs aren't as snug as they should be (or in rarer cases are too tight). And the plastic even looks cheaper quality.

If anything I think they should do more specialized ones. Like one that gives you lots of parts useful for making vehicles or lots of stone bricks for castles. The main problem with the Classic sets is they give you a bunch of different colors but not enough of specific parts. So you could get a set with maybe one or two axle pieces for a car and only in one color.
