I've got the Mk XLVI and it's nice, but you have to be careful that you don't force things to avoid damaging them. They are not meant for normal play. The joints aren't what I would call "stiff" in that they still feel quite smooth when you move them, but they take more force than normal to move. They look fantastic though so I'd highly recommend you grab the Mk V since you like that suit.

Eh, 2000s era stuff isn't as bad as some people claim it is. You get some real good shit in that era like Ultimate Spider-Man, Astonishing X-Men and Dark Reign. Back then, the 2000s era was considered better than the 90s. The 90s wasn't nearly looked on as fondly back then as it is in the 2020s.

Maybe serviceable is a better way to describe it. I remember the beginning of ultimate Spider-Man was like reading a textbook but the overall storyline was “serviceable” and new. Astonishing had a strong beginning, that’s all I can with that. I like the ultimate universe, I don’t care about the incest with quicksilver and scarlet witch, or blob eating wasp, or how punisher was captain America for a while, it was all confined in its own universe and unique.

But then that nigger Miles showed up.
>>

Quite frankly I'm surprised >>11057748 read the JMS run. The run was kind of divisive at the time by adding the Spider Totem shit and having Spidey team up with Dr. Strange a number of times, but it was certainly better than the dreck that came before it.
>>
>>11057742
So what?
>>
>>11057742
Sorry, don't care. Getting this anyway. It's my favorite Wolverine costume.
>>
>>11057753
I didn’t really hate it that much at the time because it was something new. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like the idea of the totems and Peter being selected by destiny or whatever, but at the time it was something out of the ordinary. I should have been a one and done thing but now it’s everything anyone talks about. Spiderverse this, spiderverse that, spider god bullshit. I just want street level spidey back with no multiverse or inheritors.
>>
>>11057758
I liked how it was left ambiguous if there actually was a mystic component to Peter's origin. You're right, it was new and interesting. I liked it for the relationship stuff between Peter and MJ, it was nice after them having been kept apart for a number of years. Spider Verse wasn't for years either, and don't get me wrong, I am absolutely sick of Spider Verse stuff, and I'm probably the biggest Spiderfag in the thread, but I liked the concept of the original Spider Verse story as a one off kind of deal. The actual story itself could've used some work because, Scott, but the idea of a bunch of different Spoder-Men teaming up is fun and even then, wasn't the first story to do something along those lines. But yeah, nowadays it's way overblowm and is like the go to Spider Man concept for other media to adapt from. I miss a grounded, more down to earth Spidey.

Where's that jackass who told me unless it was like 90% off stores don't call it clearance?
>>
>>11057999
He was incorrect as you can see there. Clearance just means the store is trying to get rid of it, but a lot of places like walmart dont try very hard
>>
>>11058004
Best part is that the computer is the one marking it down based on an algorithm, so the price relates to how good/poor the line sold.
So if the clearance price is 90% off, that mean the line sold well and they're breaking even or even making a profit by selling it at 10% of what it cost.
If it's only 8% off, that means the toyline sold like shit and they're losing their shirt from marking it down even 3 bucks.

you won't be able to get a pre-order in because they'll sell out in 13 seconds. maybe try ebay :)
>>
>>11059208
Walmart pre orders for MLs have been easy to get for a while now. However, were in the era of smaller production runs so that may not be the case anymore. The counterpoint to having all these figures hitting Ollie's and other such stores means that the retailers that order these figures aren't selling them and aren't reordering in the same quantity as they once were. Toy manufacturers like Has to and McFsrlane respond by lowering the production runs of figures in response. I just watched a Nerdzoic video explaining it pretty well, it's a pendulum effect. Now that retailers are receiving less product, it actually sells through without hitting clearance. But because they are constantly selling out of these products they think th demand is higher than it really is and order more, the toy companies respond by increasing production runs and the cycle just goes on and on.

Carnage' head articulation is really good. It's standard for other lines but ML seems to rarely do their heads this well. It's not even fucking hard. It's just a peg put in the proper spot. As mentioned above it seems some think the Carnage feet should be swapped. I've looked at them several times since I saw it brought up and it's really hard to tell. One moment I think I should swap them, then I'll look again and think no they seem right. What do you think?

>>11059214
It's too bad that actual wanted characters could get hit with a low production run because of things like that. Wakanda Forever figures get mocked to no end, as they should. You don't have to be racist to see a bunch of uninteresting characters and just not want them. Yet poor waves like that bring down everything else long past when they came out.

Based. I mix and match too. Sometimes the best look's a different line or Legends makes characters I know no else will, or a Diamond Select hits the scale I want. No reason to limit yourself to just one brand.
>>
>>11059832
I genuinely don't know why more people don't do this. Especially since several of these lines even match aesthetically. I can understand not wanting to necessarily mix AY with Legends or something since AYs are so stylized in comparison, but stuff like Mafex quite easily blends in to a Marvel display. Same for some of Marvel Select's bigger figures. I prefer their comic Thanos for instance to the classic Legends one.
>>
>>11059863
Yeah, my Gwenpool mafex goes pretty well with assorted Legends. Big fan of Select Thanos too, he's got some limited articulation but size and look wise he fits my preference for Thanos better than the comics Legends or the assorted MCU figures everyone's done.
>>
>>11059863
>I genuinely don't know why more people don't do this.
They do though. I've never owned a marvel legends spider-man as I've always had imports. Currently the mafex is my definitive. Just recently sold my ml IM and Thor since I'm happy with the mafex versions, and very soon I'll be selling my ml 20th cap and daredevil. Like you say, legends is only for characters that aren't being made by anyone else.
This reminds me I still need to sell my retro rogue now the mafex is coming.
>>

>>
>>11060017
There's a difference between someone who picks and chooses figures and someone who goes around crying Hascuck over and over and over again. And no, I don't believe for a second this is his first time doing it.
>>
If you are one of the shitposters that bitches "Hascuck" and "Hastard" and all the other bullshit and still buy their products, you are officially the thread bitch. The true Hascuck.
>>
>>11060048
Wouldn't it be a good idea to buy the good products from a company while ignoring the shit ones? Like the 97 Wolverine is great for what it is. Not as good as Mafex, but like 1/4th of the price. They still make stupid design choices even on brand new molds. You can complain about their stupid decisions but still find worth in some of their offerings.
>>
Boys, we're missing the big point here, is astonishing wolverine taller or not?
>>
>>11060095
You're missing the point. No one is saying you shouldn't pick and choose the best from each company, in fact, that was what I originally advocated. What I'm getting at is if you have enough of a bias to go on a Chinese basket weaving forum's toy board, and relentlessly bitch about a company day in and day out, you're a hypocrite and a faggot if you still buy their products, good or bad.
>>
>>11060131
You’re right no one should EVER criticize a consumer product. Just like we should never make fun of Jews.
>>
>>11060131
I dunno, I bitch about stupid shit Hasbro does. I bitch about it because they can do better and they've even proven it in their own releases. Granted I'm probably more levelheaded in my critique of Hasbro than people just endlessly telling them to fuck off. Still they'll never stop doing dumb shit if you don't let them know they're doing dumb shit. Like half or more of the criticisms they get would be gone by utilizing the right joints on new molds, and the other half would from just designing the figures a little better. Both of which wouldn't really cost more since they'd be new molds anyway, they'd just be different.

>>11060144
It's ok to make fun of everyone as long as we're all laughing in the end. I guarantee Mel Brooks has laughed at a good Jew joke before.
>>
>>11060144
Once again, missing the point. No one is saying you can't be critical. But can we really say the lowest commons denominator tier trolling attempts are valid criticism? Because they're clearly not. I have plenty of issues with Hasbro, I've listed some of them before, but I'm not to the point where I go in every Hasbro related thread dropping low quality posts about Hascuck this and Haskek that. There's a pretty big difference between that and valid criticism.

I swear you guys are either missing the point on purpose or are actually fucking retards.

>>11060147
>Granted I'm probably more levelheaded in my critique of Hasbro than people just endlessly telling them to fuck off.
Yeah, you're not who I'm talking about.

>Still they'll never stop doing dumb shit if you don't let them know they're doing dumb shit.
Shitposting about it to the same like 80 or so people over and over again isn't letting Hasbro know. They're not in these threads. /toy/ has far too small a userbase for any worthwhile meta data or anything of that nature.

Is this a break or is it to give him more range? Because if it's for more range it's a good thing. If you want to move it that far forward it's for a frontal pose where you won't even see it.

Speaking, what's the best butterfly joint you've ever seen? I think I'd have to go with Figma Dread Samus. There's some great engineering in that thing.
>>
>>11060290
They have to be tight to hold up ML's out of scale 6.5 inch figures. Maybe if they actually stuck to 6 inch scale they wouldn't have these problems but for some reason they want to design everything BIG and BOLD rather than well-engineered, solid, streamlined and smart.
>>
>>11060418
This has nothing to do with scale. Having tight hinges is fine yes, but having tight hinges when the entire limb is made out of soft plastic/rubbery plastic is horrendous design. You're asking for shit to break that way.

Nothing gay about properly storing your figures
>>
>>11061127
Do you think the hasbro guys ever worry about stuff like a figure being exactly the right height?
>>
>>11061287
They don’t even care about proper anatomy, let alone height. They don’t worry about things like updating articulation and such because “collectors” still buy their product. I think every year they make the figures just slightly bigger, to the point that they become 1/10 scale.
>>
>>11061287
Did you guys make as big of a deal about this when Hasbro updated Spider-Man from Pizza Spidey to Retro carded Spidey? The Wolverine heigh difference is like not even 1/10th of an inch. It's not like they made him as tall as Captain America.
>>
>>11061338

There are anons here losing their shit, and calling the Retro Spidey a bad buck

even pizza spidey was too tall to begin with.

>>11061287
absolutely not.
>>
>>11061457
People are free to choose if they want bootleg or not, but I will say that objectively speaking, they don't tend to age well. Whether it's the plastic getting loose quickly, or joints not holding up to all the posing
>>
>>11061547
I am asking on this specific bootleg company. Not bootlegs in general. Specifically the ct toys bootlegs. Everyone says they are high quality but no one talks about the joints. (I dont care about paint.)
>>
>>11061401
it IS a bad buck. thankfully the AF15 buck came around.
>>
>>11061650
Has that seen any reuse?
>>
>>11061401
>and calling the Retro Spidey a bad buck
There is simply no salvaging the Sunfire body, no matter what articulation you add to it. Especially not when one of those added joints is the worst example of a ball neck ever conceived.
>>
>>11061650
I disagree. I always liked the retro/RYV buck just a tad more than the AF15 one. I dunno, I was just never impressed with it. Seemed like a step back from RYV mold.

Picrel. L is retro, R is sunfire

How are you gonna expect people to comment on joint longevity when the bootleg literally just came out a couple weeks ago?
Just buy the damn thing. It costs like 16-20 dollars depending on who you buy it from.

Spider-Man in the friends 3pk

>>11061650
It’s really not that bad. It has its flaws yes with the stupid dumbbell neck joint that they should’ve just copied from mafex instead.

The buck really is just there to encapsulate a more adult/muscular Spidey whereas AF15 is teenage.
>>
>>11061791
I personally prefer the dumbbell joint in the neck to the disc and hinge system on the AF15 mold. You get absolutely zero side to side range and the ability to tilt the head adds just so much character and personality to a figure. Yes, the range needs to be better, they just need to make the neck it's own separate part also on its own ball joint and it would be solid. I also don't have as much issues with the thick thighs as some do. For someone constantly jumping and leaping off buildings, his thighs are going to be swoll as fuck.
>>
>>11061794
Separating the neck and putting it on a ball joint would help, but they really should’ve just put a bigger ball at the top of the neck opening, and either use a straight or j-shaped dumbbell ball joint to the head. You’d get the range, max ability to look up and down, and tilt while keeping the sculpt pretty intact.

It wouldn’t even be expensive either considering they still have to fuse a hinge onto the neck.
>>
>>11061127
close enough
>>11061783
both look bad
>>
>>11061799
>they really should’ve just put a bigger ball at the top of the neck opening, and either use a straight or j-shaped dumbbell ball joint to the head.
Yeah, that also would've worked well. Still, what we got is better than the old disc and hinge system. I'm so sick of that.

>wait for the $110 version

>>11061829
Mafex don't cost $110. You know that though.
>>
>>11061936
They do at BBTS
>>
>>11062007
Don't buy from them. Even with DHL shipping, I'm paying less than $80 for your average Mafex figure. Pay in yen. It's like funny money right now.
>>
>>11062011
Tru fax. I just got bane for $110 CAD shipped.
>>
>>11062011
Who would you say is the best to buy from if you want Mafex figures?
>>
>>11062097
Any reputable import site. Amiami. HobbyLinkJapan, and Hobby Genki for P-Bandai exclusives are my 3 go to sites.
>>
>>11062043
>$110 CAD total
Where? Bane is around $100 and shipping isn’t minimum to Canada is $20
>>
Insane to think the best figures out of the 85th anniversary line is gonna be Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
>>
>>11062288
???
Maplefag here, all of the places I've bought Mafex from, the shipping was around 20 dollars, 25 max. HLJ doesn't count because they are rapists when it comes to shipping.
>>
>>11062300
No sorry that’s what I meant. Shipping is 20$, and bane is $100 on hobbysearch and genki. How did you get it for 110$?
>>
>>11062306
There are some where Bane is going for 90 and under, especially if you pay by yen and not by CAD

Retro buck would have been better if the arms were raised and the thigh gap was reduced. Literally that’s it, we could have had an excellent spider figure.

>>
>>11062542
How is he? If he's pretty good maybe I'll grab him from there. Even if it has shortcomings as long as it's overall solid and doesn't fall apart I'd much rather grab him for 20 over 54+tax+tip+bbts ad revenue.
>>
>>11062758
Basic figure. Kinda reminds me of super7 in a way but with a bit more articulation. All the joints were smooth, left knee a bit loose but not a deal breaker. The head was a bit squeaky at first but it’s fine. Surprisingly shorter than I thought he would be. I didn’t really have any qc issues. Worth $20.

I've noticed Anthony's reviews becoming more positive lately even for generic Marvel Legends. The minimum he is going is 7/10 "FOR MARVEL LEGENDS". I miss the days of 0-3/10 and spite points.
>>
>>11063218
I personally prefer the Copiel Thor design, but the Marvel Now one that AY used isn't bad either.

>He’s too short for the god of thunder
Ouch. I do prefer Thor to be a bit larger than everyone, that's the main thing that put me off of the Mafex. Shame to hear that the AY also suffers that same problem. Guess I'll just wait for Hasbro to make a new Copiel Thor. They've been making figs from that era and with parts from Herald Thor, it's only a matter of time imo.
>>
