To be fair, they have gone through pretty much the entirety of Z minus a few missing releases here and there like Kid Buu and Semi Perfect Cell. But other than that what really is there left to do other than random jobbers like Cui. Sure they have Dragon Ball, but that didn't seem to sell well, and the GT stuff seems to be ok, but that's a limited well they can tap from. I don't want to keep buying slight upgrades forever, I'm pretty happy with my collection. If a new company were to get the license the figures would have to be fucking amazing for me to purge my SHFs and jump into a new line.

so the blackholetoys super saiyan 4 goku and xeno goku just shipped out, I got the xeno one and so far pretty good for 50$ but the one thing that really bugs me is the skirt is hard plastic so extending the legs further will be hard to do, also not sure why DF's name is on the box since they didnt bother using their mold that had him taller but whatever. wouldnt recommend the BHT GT SSJ4 goku since he looks far cheaper than the official one and with DF also releasing theirs soon that includes super saiyan gt goku heads BHT's GT Goku option seems less worth it unless you're using the mold for customs which in that case buy it as it includes blank faces.

After hearing about all of this, it made me wonder if Bandai wasn't getting a bit worried about the fate of the DB franchise, which is why they've been dipping their toes into way more Shounen lines than before. They pretty much relied entirely on Dragonball and karate bugmen, as that was the major brunt of the Figuarts lineup. Sure, they had done some smatterings of other stuff, and had dipped into OP and Naruto, but it never seemed like it really took off terribly well for either of them.

In the last year or two, it really seems like they're just trying to gobble up any and all Shounen properties they can get their hands on: They've gone back in deeper on OP and Naruto, they've gone in on Bleach, Kaiju no. 8, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, Rurouni Kenshin, and even dipped into stuff like Frieren and Spy x Family.

Feels like they're trying to take a lot of their eggs out of the Dragonball basket, to try and find the "next big thing" they think they can hopefully rely on.

I hated figures whose arms only went up on swivels. I remember being 7 and trying to pose my turtles like in the cartoon and I couldn't so I throw it across the room. Got a gameboy instead and didn't by another action figure until imports in 2k.

personally I think a major misstep was not making every figure to scale.
i'm about to have every frieza form on a shelf and both the 3rd and 4th form are going to look retarded with the others.
everyone loves the new buffku (chest piece aside,) but he doesn't scale with the other gokus in the line.
dragonstars cell looks better than the figuarts cell.
every kid figure and huge krillin is fucking terrible and ruins your display.

I spent so much money collecting every form and villain but now its just meh

I've given up on this in all lines. The SHF Kinnikuman chojin are wildly out of scale. Their Kid Naruto figs are also too big or Kakashii is too small. Marvel Legends is a shitshow. MAFEX shat the bed with their Thor. The Medicos Jojo parts are done in different scales. Just got Storm Fei Long and his head is the same size as the jada. The Buzzmod Demon Slayer line is inaccurate.
It seems par for the course at this point. Not a single line seems to be able to consistently put of characters in scale. It fucking sucks.

Nah. Part 1 figures are huge and out of scale with 2. The Jonathan figure is bigger than Joseph when they are supposed to be the same size. Part 3 is tiny and Part 4 is fractionally bigger, but still small. Part 5, 6, 7 are 8 the only ones done well.
At this point, even though I own 25 star crusaders figures I'm ready to replace them all with a new line after 15 years.

Yeah, everything newer has a purpose and is tied to the manga or movies for size. The line does pretty good with scale besides the kids for the most part. Some stuff is fucked up like Piccolo's size and some stuff just isn't big enough but that's acceptable for King Cold and Burter. Android 16 and First Form Cell are badly done for scale though. Dr Gero and Android 19 were shorter than 17 and 18 so they aren't as bad as you'd think. 3rd Form Frieza doesn't have a very good reference in the manag but he seems like he should be bigger than 2nd form. Then Toriyama retconned it with the Broly movie anyway so that's what the figure is based on. Vegeta is a little tall, and Krillin's heads are huge. GT Goku is pretty good. Base Broly should be a lot slimmer and a bit shorter but they cheaped out. There's lots of little things but Gero and 19 actually have a lot of proof that they should be that short. Start of Android Vegeta saga was a bit shorter than Buu saga so that's where some issues lie in the scaling.

Here's the problem with 3rd form frieza scaling in this community.
In the manga, 3rd form only existed for a chapter and never really got a good perspective of the actual scaling like we do with 1st, 2nd, 4th. Toriyama was never really involved with the production of the anime to give proper clarification. The story board artists didn't know for sure how big 3rd form was supposed to be because it was vague in the manga. so they assumed it was the same size as 2nd form and went with it.

Part 4 isn't that much bigger than Part 3. Parts 2, 5, and 6 are all pretty consistent around 1/12 but not perfect. Part 1 is very large. 7 and 8 are harder to get a read on because I don't believe there's official heights for those characters. A long time ago I autistically measured my SAS and used some scale calculators using their official heights to get a scale, and couldn't find heights for Johnny or Gappy.
In any event, personally I'm not too bothered unless something is egregious, but I suppose what is and isn't egregious depends on the person. I'm pretty happy with most DBZ SHF that I own.

It technically does if you consider it like this. Canonically he has trouble controlling his power in his fourth form so he needs a way to compress that power inside of him. The third form being as ugly as turned out is a side effect of him attempting to keep his power contained within him, something which he got a better grasp at with his second form, though it trades horrific physical festures for pure size. With his first form is when he finally grasps enough control to return to something close enough to his original height.

May sound a bit shoddy I'll admit but in the end it makes it easier for me to deal with despite also having wanted a third form the same size as second.

Not at all. When Frieza transforms to his final form, he is still cool, calm, and collected. He is in total control of the fight, and everyone else is hopelessly outclassed. When he goes giganigga, he has totally lost control of the fight, and getting his shit caved in by Goku, and he's desperate to try anything that works. 100% final form's look works for the exact same reason his final form works vs his second and third form. It is completely unexpected to see Frieza having fallen so far to have to rely on something so ugly, brutish, and ape-like, when there was previously elegance and grace to his Final Form.
