She's a Collector's Edition figure so there won't be a pre-order. She's supposed to go on sale in Spring, but with Todd's record that could mean she'll randomly show up in stores anytime between March and October.
The Tim Drake Robin was announced in a Winter Showcase then released in August, so who knows.

For what it's worth, Grid was a Collector's Edition figure who went up for pre-order on Amazon with a release date of January 4th but then it started showing up in stores in October, so you might be able to get an order in on Amazon and wait for that if you can't find it in stores first. Betting on Amazon could mean your order gets delayed for months until they get one in stock like Hush Batman.
Either way, be ready to move fast on her and don't trust preorders. If there's an in hand version for sale on ebay just go for it.

These are like $10 a piece, kinda bare bones since some get an accessory but most dont but they arent expensive. Hasbro has 5 poa star wars at around $8 that have a gun or saber so i guess todd could do the same.

I'd have even been fine with the simplified new52 version of the shield.
Either no one involved in the process cared enough about Superman to speak up or James Gunn was shouting them down, both tell me that the movie has no intention of honoring the character and this is going to be some lame attempt at a cash grab.
The Kingdom Come symbol is for a darker Superman who's changed during his years of isolation in the Fortress, he's scarred by the death of Lois. But Gunn and DC are proclaiming it's going to be some bright and cheery Silver Age shenanigans movie with fifty million C Listers like Mr. Terrific and Guy Gardner eating up screen time.
This shit sounds like an ad for the rebooted DCU more than a Superman movie about a reporter with a crush on the girl at work. Fucking garbage.

Fanboys hated Batman forever, but it was the best selling Batman line in the 90s. It stands to reason that there's a ton of people with nostalgia for the toyline because of that. And that includes the guy who runs Target's toy department.
There's also not gonna be a new Batman movie for the next few years, or a kid's cartoon, so the kid's toy licensor needs to make due. Hoping they due BTAS retro figures, but Mezco's license may prevent that.

These days I don't even pay attention to what figures have platinum releases or what they look like. It'd be too much trouble to find them anyway.

And most of them are too weird and even the general release is too reuse heavy to be worth it anyway. Like look at this strange demon version of Batman Beyond.

Nah, they're clearly not the exact original molds even accounting for 3D scanning issues. Also doing that is legally dubious if they could even do that. You can usually copy a toy from a previous licensor with the license, but outright doing it bootleg style is probably not common.
These were likely made like the Hasbro Power rangers automorphin figures; new sculpts based on the old toys but distinct legally.
>>
>>11274858
Movies have much wider spread than cartoons.
BTAS is an exception because it influenced the movies.
>>
>>11273172
I'll wait to purchase the head as fodder from someone on eBay when this is out for just that purpose. What 7in bodies would work for a stereotypical Karen that don't involve softgoods?
>>
>>11274905
Batman Beyond almost influenced the Batgirl movie. Also I think BTAS was just more widely watched because of Batmania from 1989 was still having an effect in 1992. "The Batman" didn't have the benefit of that and BatB is too different from Nolan's Batman.
>>
>>11274925
I know for us at the time btas was a huge deal, idk if the movie really influenced that or if it was just exciting for a comic based cartoon on tv 5 times a week. Like i remember id stop riding my bike and go home in order to watch btas and then go back out afterwards till dinner time.

If someone missed BTAS it's really hard for them to gain that love of Batman elsewhere down the line. Batman Beyond is good but its so hard to get into given its a different take. The later 00s cartoons just don't feel like as much of a 'definitive' entry into the mythos as BTAS was. It really came out at the perfect time for people who saw the Keaton movies but wanted a road to go in deeper.

I've noticed a lot of the newer animated movies expect the audience to have already seen everything else that's come out, everything is always some disorienting multiverse adventure with fifty million characters.

It's reached a point where in a lot of movies they don't bother explaining who characters are in relation to each other so Lois will sometimes just be some girl that always walks into a room holding a phone dumping some exposition, then shows up later in the middle of a street when robots are blowing up cars. She's like the village retard Superman has to keep telling to stay safe, there's no development of a relationship or characterization.

I was listening to an interview Gunn was giving where he was saying he has no interest in telling the Superman origin story or telling us who Superman is, so it's going to be another meaningless string of explosions and parade of people in costumes.
Like fuck, even 007 movies take the time to visit headquarters, get briefed, explain the gadgets, and Bond gets told not to muck it up, letting us know he's a bad boy who likes blowing stuff up.

No wonder the toy industry is in a slump, look at the quality of the media that's supposed to be making them interested in the products.

>>
>>11275062
I'm not sure what their motivation is for abandoning the need to get new audiences in for media like film and TV which ends up being a lot of people's entry point.. Maybe it's many of the creatives being selfish and being tired of the origin stories they've seen on screen before. So they refuse to make a simpler, more fundamental story to get newer audiences. They'll do it for characters who have not had that story told before on film (like Gunn's GotG) but seem to assume or not care if zoomers or gen A people have seen stuff like Batman 89 which is not the case for most of them.
>>
>>11275079
It's weird, right?

Imagine if someone gave you like 300 millies to make a Superman movie. I'd pretty much do a shot-for-shot remake of the 78 and Donner cut of 2. I love the long roaming shots over the surface of Krypton, I love seeing the little windows carved into the canyons of ice crystals. I love when we get to Smallville and the endless rows of crops under a big blue sky. I love when we get to Metropolis and see everyone rushing in and out of the Daily Planet. They take the time to establish where we with these wide overhead establishing shots like the audience is flying above the story, letting us relate to Superman and experience things from his perspective before we meet Lois Lane.

The last thing I'd do is sweep all those amazing moments aside and cram in a shit ton of C Listers that will all get their own movies if this one can make enough money. Imagine making a Superman movie and not even getting the shield right.

It's weird and gross.
>>
>>11275075
I mean it just have to be lights and sounds
>>
>>11275084
There seem to be 2 possibilities from Gunn here with these C listers he's bringing in, or a combination of both.

Either a cynical one where the execs told him "hey we want to introduce people to these random heroes not many people know and try to get the GotG effect going with them so they will have their own movies down the line, so you need to use them in the movie everyone who has interest in DCU is going to see, Superman"

Or there's the less cynical case where maybe Gunn just is bored by a character like Superman but can't really avoid him since he's so huge. So he makes a Superman movie that is actually just what he did with GotG, taking lesser known characters he has interest in and doing what he wants to do with them under the guise of a Superman movie. And it just happens to include enough Superman to satisfy audiences (or so he thinks anyway).

The only DC movies that make money are the solo self-contained stories like The Batman and the first Joker.
Superman can be the fun romantic adventure movie to Batman's detective mysteries, it's so fucking obvious.
The last Superman movie that wasn't just another ad for a bunch of literal who faggots some producer wants to develop into the next Avengers was Superman Returns in 2006.

Movie toys will always be that thing the industry will never learn from. It'll flop as a toyline like everything does. They'll never leave Ollie's. Nothing will change, this is the one industry trend that won't die and stores after Big Lots and 99c Store will pay the price

Looks like it'd need a very steady hand with a small brush, but the danger is the ?s near the articulation points on the arms as they could get scuffed or scraped off when articulating. Also the coat is soft PVC which is also not as easy to maintain the paint on. So long term durability would be the real question of that kind of custom job. I'd look up articles on customizing that speak about how to make sure the paint job remains durable long term.
>>
>>11275695
Any standard black acrylic would work but in my experience you might want to go with a dark green instead, especially if you're going to do a wash. Plus if the paint starts to rub off it'll look like highlighting and be less noticeable.

Are you going to fix his hair and make it red, too?

Sure but the script has been in development for years now. When you read about how the others were made the studio always mandates the move have Catwoman or Mr. Freeze or whoever, so they have to know what villains they're using. If someone told me to go write a Mr. Freeze script it'd take maybe a week to get a draft together, then maybe a month for the studio, accountants, lawyers, whoever to comb it for things and come up with a budget.
Five years?
Didn't J.J. Abrams have some insane deal with WB to develop a bunch of DC projects like black Superman that never went anywhere?
Why do they keep getting themselves into situations where project runners can fuck around for half a decade without making anything?
>>
>>11277032
Any number of possible reasons like key figures leaving production; replacements coming and having different ideas, changes in market conditions, new feedback from other movies making creatives realize one thing or another may not work, changing tastes in creators over time, producer and exec meddling, later realization of what makes sense vs what scenes were written may not align, etc.

>>

Beast Kingdom is a Taiwanese company. They've been around making figures since at least during the time when Mattel still had the DC master license. Beast Kingdom's own license would more than likely only allow them to sell in their general region (Taiwan, Hong Kong, China etc). It's like how ZD Toys have the Marvel license and make shit that's a hell of a lot more impressive and sometimes cheaper than Marvel Legends but are restricted to the same general Chinese market.

What Spinmaster and McFarlane each own are different portions of the overall master license for retail product. Their intended places to be sold are in stuff like your typical Walmarts, Targets, Toys R Us etc and whatever international variants exist around the world. If you're looking for a company who might get the license if McFarlane negs, you need to look at companies like Hasbro, Mattel, Jakks, Jazwares etc.

>>
>>11278729
Do you prefer it because it allows for playsets and displays better?
>>
>>11278668
Jada is unrealistic because anyone who gets DC licenses is expected to be able to put out like 100+ figures a year to make back the license costs and make profit. Jada can't make 100 figures a year. Maybe next license change if they have expanded the figure department by then due to success of their existing lines.

Also it was early in the Kenner license. ot as much product as there'd be in the coming years. By Forever, they had the BTAS line, the comic Legends of Batman line, and the movie line,w which means more shelfspace.

It is my belief that if DC were to return the DC collector license to Mattel and require them to adopt the Masterverse house style, the outcome would likely surpass the current offerings from McFarlane. This perspective comes from an individual who possesses a considerable collection of McFarlane products. Additionally, since the figures would be 7 inches in height, this would not represent a significant departure from McFarlane's scale. Furthermore, many of the peculiarities, perplexing decisions, and subpar reuse of components that do not align with the characters could be mitigated.
