They’re also comically evil and invasive, one of them drugs the MC gives them dog body-mods, and puts them in a J-cafe (I think, I’m a little hazy on that last detail), and at that point they might as well just forcibly domesticate her for no reason, but then there wouldn’t be le edgy suicide ending. Oh, and the MC’s girlfriend gets classO’d because her owner thinks she’s cuter that way, showing that the author doesn’t understand how squeamish the affini are about using those. The one good part of that fic is near the end where one of the affini she knows is trying to help her and says she won’t use xenodrugs on her, but then uses a class e because she can’t stand to see the MC suffering and feels remorse after the MC calls her out. That’s the one part of the story where an affini does something wrong without feeling like a flanderization or strawman.
