It makes less sense than the gibberish LCARS panels because we can pretend LCARS are buttons with functions, whereas holo-screens are just CGI trash.They add to the already bloated CGI budget, aren't necessary to make a set look futuristic and are illogical.
I do not particularly care about Star Trek, even the good stuff, but my condolences for those that like what Star Trek used to be. Everything over the last how many years I have seen clips on or gathered through osmosis about the new stuff comes across as utter shit - it must be contemptible for actual fans to see what has become of it.

We're going to see tons of kino about the Moorish conquest of medieval Spain in the next 20-30 years. By that time, Muslims will form the majority demographic in the US and Western Europe.
