I keep being told that anime is better than ever, but where are the modern equivalents of 80s/90s/00s Ghibli, Monster, the works of Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Oshii, End of Eva, etc?

The Beautiful People EditionPreviously >>217370390
>>217383774>we can't have lower budgets because writers want money
>>217383774Let's not pretend the light grips being unionized is the reason Hollywood spends 10 million dollars an episode on something as shitty as Starfleet Academy. You and I both know where that budget is going and none of it is going to the right place. It's largely going into things like the CGI budget, into paying the two A-list writers they hired to recite D-list written trash, and into the pockets of the Executive Producers. A light grip trying to make 60,000 bucks a year to keep the lights on in Commiefornia isn't breaking their bank, pal.I don't know why you would try and let these incompetent retards off the hook for such an egregious misappropriation of funds.Hire good writers. They're not even fucking expensive necessarily. Hell, hire ONE well-tenured, experienced Star Trek writer and let him pick your young talent on merit, and then let him herd them into writing Star Trek properly the same way the young TNG writers were guided by veterans and yes, even the Roddenberry rules.Doing this one simple fucking thing instead of making Kurtzman himself co-showrunner is how you fix a lot of Star Trek's problems.
>>217383872into paying two A-list actors, rather*
>>217383811It isn't writers specifically. Everyone wants their piece of the pie. It all adds up very quickly.People wonder how Corbet and Fastvoid make movies for so cheap (Hint: they shoot in Hungary). They didn't personally earn any money on the Brutalist either.Sean Baker tried to screw his crew on health insurance items, and was livid when he got forced into it. These indie autuers who manage to keep costs down are going to great lengths to avoid paying anybody.
>>217383872Kurtzman writing the first episode of academy says it all. >hire ONE well-tenured, experienced Star Trek writer and let him pick your young talent on meritstart hiring the fanfic writers again. At least they know what star trek is.The budget almost always goes to the actors and the vfx companies that they overwork and rush to finish. Actors get paid WAY too much and 90% of their cut goes to their agents anyways. Maybe we need a more humble hollywood again
AMC is so desperate to recuperate their dwindling viewers, they're doing the unthinkable. Maggie is going to be in a relationship with Negan in the final season of TWD Dead City.Fucking kek.
>>217380569Maggie had a cute dumper. nothing amazing but attractive enough to stick a tongue up her anus. attractive enough to let her shart on your face, no, not quite
>>217381249I like the spinoffs. Rick's answered what happened to him after the bridge plus it showed what was going on long term and on a bigger scale around North America. Basically there were 3 big allied cities across the US, then 1 of them (Rick's) was taken over by a "billions must die" military planning to kill off the other 2 with false flag attacks plus exterminating all smaller communities to make sure it has enough resources to survive. Didn't care for the Rick + Michonne stuff because they have zero romantic or sexual chemistry together, but the rest of it was interesting enough. The other spinoffs (Negan/Maggie in NYC and Daryl/Carol in France then England and Spain) are fun looks at new settings. It was enjoyable to see how all those places handled the end of the world and what they turned into after over a decade of the apocalypse. Daryl's show also has a storyline with a religious, nearly supernatural, element which isn't something the main show explores.
>it's realhahahahahahah
>>217380569I liked Turn, and I was jealous of the main character because both his wife and his girlfriend were smoke shows.
>>217381485I dig the Daryl and Carol show. Didn’t much care for Rick’s.
Troywhat a fucking moviethey dont make them like it anymore at all btw new captchas are insane
>>217383565>removes the mythological aspects for for the sake of ''muh realism''lame
>>217383565They make shit films everyday
>>217383768Im ok with that. When its up to the Gods to decide the outcome the stakes are lowered, focusing on the human side of the story was a good choice. Moreover, Id rather have Troy than shit like Immortals or Wrath of the Titans.
>>217383565>btw new captchas are insaneI’m sure they fuckin are pal, tell us what colour crayon you had for dinner after you’re done with your utterly shit opinion

>>217383754>Surprised they never made a sequel called Step Fathers. If comedies were still funny I would actually be excited by that announcement. I'd probably still watch it anyway. Need to do it while Richard Jenkins is still alive and Mary Steenburgen is still prime gilf.
