>9 Years Later, Tom Hardy's 10/10 Crime Drama Masterpiece Could Be Making A Comeback
Story posted 1/19/2026

>This month, Steven Knight has finally shared an update about Taboo season 2, giving the millions who enjoyed the show’s first season a tangible reason to expect a follow-up soon. In an interview with the UK’s Radio Times, Knight revealed that discussions around this second season of the series are further along than anyone could have expected:

>"Well, Tom and I have talked about it, and I think we know what we would do. It’s just finding the space. But I'd love to, I get asked about it – especially in the States, actually – I get asked about it a lot."

>It seems much more of a case of “when” than “if” Taboo will be making a comeback, then. Knight and Hardy already have a plan in place for how to continue the series. The two of them simply need to align their busy schedules, and the show could be back in production sooner rather than later.

>Dick Spanner P.I.

This was an actual children's TV show on British TV in the 80s made by the same people who made Thunderbirds, Stingray, and Captain Scarlett.

How did Gerry Anderson get away with such obvious wank jokes in a kids show? I mean it must have passed through their own production team, tv executives, tv regulator and the BBFC all without someone saying "Dick Spanner? You mean like wanking? In a kids show? Are you sure this is a good idea?"

They made 2 series of 22 episodes and nobody complained when it was broadcast on Sunday mornings. The 80s were a different time.

Don't believe this was a thing? Here's the proof it actually happened:

I'm American. To me, "fanny" means. buttocks. It's very benign. I can imagine some wholesome elementary school teacher using that word.
>Oh no, little Timmy fell over the jungle gym and hurt his fanny. I'll have to send him to the school nurse.

But in the UK, fanny is a very vulgar word for vagina
>Oi, I shagged some bint in her fanny without a condom. I best nip down to the chemist for some Plan B
>>
>>217484828
I remember when Marge Simpson complained that someone touched her fanny
>>
>>217484828
Yeah, but "dick spanner", as in your wanking/fapping hand,,is understood globally surely?

Dick Spanner was, it turns out, used in an advert for lager, but they actually made them change his name to something less rude for that. Turns out its OK to use such profanities for a kids stop motion cartoon, but not for selling booze as it might offend.

It was on a "youth" programme, not a Saturday morning kids show. See also Gamesmaster which was aimed at teenage boys and was non-stop wank jokes.

Starring Erin Kellyman, Dir Nia Dacosta.

The fourth & latest installment in visionary Danny Boyle's zombie series breaks some (at times, uncomfortable) new ground, but still offers up plenty of fun & frights!

It's currently at 9.3 on IMDB - seems pretty high for a horror flick.. If you've seen it - was it that good?

I don't play much vidya, but New Vegas I've played and it's great, has a well crafted world and characters. Reading what people had to say about the show, positive or negative, it sounds like the Star Wars sequels. You take the world people love and use it as more of a prop to push your own shitty story, so it feels more like you're going through a theme park of the franchise rather than experiencing a real well thought out world. Seems like New Vegas and its factions still exist, but more as a prop and fanservice than actually contributing much to the story or serving any real purpose, and this works for most normie tier consumers, but I'm not a big fan of this type of storytelling.
Did I get the wrong impression of the show, is it actually worth a watch?

Oh, well like I said it's the opposite. They're telling a good story with interesting characters. The setting itself might suffer a bit from it instead.
>>
>>217485533
>without raping and butchering her.
They wouldnt rape her because she's a town bicycle so they crucified her instead. She got away and they didnt put nails through her hands or feet, like the REAL Legion would have, so it was underwhelming.

>Creators create story/game/movie/band etc that creates something new and unique.
>This attracts initial fanatics (fans) of that thing. They craft a scene around the thing and build it as a community, usually a lot of back and forward interaction between the creators of the initial thing and the scene.
>fanatics want validation for their tastes, so they start sharing their tastes to friends, normies, etc, they start supporting any sort of mainstream presence and approval thing gets. This creates tourists (old lingo "Mops" members of the public) who like the thing, but are not fanatics but will buy and casually enjoy thing
>This attracts suits who see thing can be far more marketable, spread to masses etc if you rework it with the elements that work just for tourists and jettison everything else.
>Suits offer lots of money, initial creators sell out. Product is reworked for mass audiences.
>Initial Fanatics try to defend with late stage gatekeeping, get shit on by all the tourists and the now owners/creators. Gets turned into mass market product, becomes a trend commodity, produces a lot of money gets over commercialized and dies.
This is the cycle that most Fandoms/Scenes go through. I USED to be "don't gatekeep, its cool people want to enjoy the same thing as us" but after I saw this happen to several music scenes through the late 2000s/2010s I became full "you must gatekeep and be mean". There is a reason Crusty hippies still exist as a non-commodified subculture. Ugly as sin fashion, offensive cultural appropriation and hostile music (dark psy, forest psy), this means it stays fanatics only. Fandoms and scenes need to find the balance of being profitable enough to support the creators and scene, but not profitable enough that it drags in the plague of tourists and their suit handlers.

Okay.

Why do Chinese get to make period pieces which are light-hearted, with bright and colorful costumes and not necessarily focused on 'being' a period piece, probably with some gimmick, like being a Medieval Psychologist or a Coroner, solving crimes amid courtly intrigue?
Like, you know what I mean? Nowadays the only medieval series allowed are GoT-alikes, you just can't have a light-hearted, colorful show about a girl solving crimes under Queen Elisabeth's court.

They do, they're just generally marketed to kids. Jim Henson's stuff, the Hallmark channel miniseries like Merlin/Odysseus/Gulliver's Travels though they're mainly played straight.
The thing is though that US doesn't have a history longer than the 250 years and they control the budgets so their versions old of it would be something like Night at the Museum. They sometimes do things like A Knight's Tale though or 300 or Meet the Spartans.

If you move on to UK there are more. Black Adder, and medieval mystery solving like Cadfael. And I haven't seen it but stuff like Catherine Called Birdy.

But yea you severely underestimate the degree to which Hollywood is predominantly a Jewish industry. That means they have no obligation to tell other people's stories but their own. Period pieces are just biblical stories to them or maybe Spartacus/Ben Hur type stuff.

The limits to their light-hearted period stuff would be modern fantasies like Ella Enchanted or modern fairytales like Back to the Future etc, because their history just doesn't go back that far.
>>
China isn't run by the jews, that's why.
Being run by the chinese is almost as bad because they're the jews of east asia, but at least it is *their* country (kinda)
>>
Also some more American stuff with occasional period piece kino:
Star Trek TNG
The Orville
