So he get's a reputation of being 'hard to work with' because no director likes getting ran around in circles by an actor.Guys like Kubrick and John Ford could run a production like nobody else and make films like nobody else, especially when it came to getting actors to do good. Unfortunately hollywood is fucking dead creatively so Norton is too fucking competent for all these hacks and so there's a disconnect.
A lot of actors have aged into, rather than acting in more mature roles, being heads of their own production studios/investing in other aspects of the industry/generally just getting away from being in front of the camera. Some even seem content to just make their money and get out asap. I think the big take away is that even hollywood stars dont care about fame in today's culture, or don't care about fame in of itself. Or maybe acting as a discipline has fallen on hard times. Or maybe the industry is such a pain in the ass that they need to be as detached from it as possible while still using their industry connections to make money in other ways. Idk
