As far as I can tell all it does it make you invisible and extend your lifespan.Gandalf implies that it has some unspecified power that he can use to great effect, yet apparently no other characters can make use of it in that way.So what's the big deal?
>>217277499Acshually, Isildur's son asks about him using the Ring to control the orcs, with Isildur saying that it's a painful thing, he couldn't master the ring with his current will, it would take time and it was something painful and beyond him. And the Ring slipped from his finger by it's own (with Isildur getting a rush of relief for that). Too bad the movies couldn't convey it.
>>217278302Quote ? Or pic of the text ?I believe you , I'm not a reddit-tier "sources and studies" type retard; I just can't remember it right nowAlso I remember that when the Hobbits are in Bree, some villagers mention rumors of refugees coming in the area from a war in the south. The people of Bree aren't indifferent at their plight but aren't very thriller either at the thought of numerous newcomers settling their lands. A guy passing in town (almost certainly a spy of evil) say the refugees will come anyway and don't care about the opinions of Breelanders. At this point, the locals turn sour. And in Tolkien's mind the readers are meant to sympathize with the Breelanders. Imagine the seethe and cringe on Reddit if this passage was posted there.
>>217271705Why didn't Ulmo find it?
>>217263485>As far as I can tell all it does it make you invisible and extend your lifespan. The ring is like amplifier, hobits are weak and have no desires to rule so it doesn't give them that power. That's why you see that elf queen saying that if she took it she would become and evil tyrant queen.
>>217278806FotR, Chapter 10 "Strider">'These black men,' said the landlord lowering his voice. 'They're looking for Baggins, and if they mean well, then I'm a hobbit. It was on Monday, and all the dogs were yammering and the geese screaming. Uncanny, I called it. Nob, he came and told me that two black men were at the door asking for a hobbit called Baggins. Nob's hair was all stood on end. I bid the black fellows be off, and slammed the door on them; but they've been asking the same question all the way to Archet, I hear.>'But spooks or no spooks, they won't get in The Pony so easy. Don't you worry till the morning. Nob'll say no word. No black man shall pass my doors, while I can stand on my legs. It's about Nazgul though

>>217278474>I have no idea how tf they thought they could fit ALL of Warcraft 3 in one movieThey really wouldn't need to, just tell Arthas' side of the WC3, and leave the rest for another movie. Just as Illidan, Malfurion, and Tyrande's tale could be a movie unto itself too
>>217276508Blame Chris Metzen and his gigaboner for orcs, he wanted them to be the main heroes of the entire movie trilogy (that obviously didn't happen because first movie flopped hard).
>>217276933>He wishes to lie with me.
>>217278969>just tell Arthas' side of the WC3FROSTMOURNE HUNGERS...
i liked this movie. I know nothing about warcraft, never played it. I liked the thoughtful depiction of the orcs, I liked how there were no totally evil characters. even the evil orc leader was shown to care for his people and have been corrupted by the fel. and even the fel wasn't totally evil.... because from light comes darkness, and from darkness, light. there were a lot of little character beats that i liked, it reminded me of a mad max movie in this respect.

Here is how I think it plays out>they get on the island>turns out she loves being on the island>power dynamics shift where she is the alpha and her boss is the beta>mix in some Misery shit where she breaks his legs or something and maybe even rapes him>end scene they see a rescue boat in the distance>the plane they were on had a flare gun or something so the guy tries to crawl to it>she does not want to leave the island because she prefers that life and it makes her feel more alive and she belongs there and not in the office>they fight each other and 1 of three things happens>A. He kills her, launches the flare, when they ask if there are any other survivors, he says no, movie ends with him being forever changed from the frat boy he was before.>B. He shoots out the flare but doesn't kill her only incapacitates her and leaves. Same as above only he leaves her on the island to be by herself.C. He shoots out the flare but doesn't kill her only incapacitates her and they both leave and return to work and have to have this awkward coexistence knowing what happened on that island and how crazy she was.If I was a betting man I would say B sounds the most plausible but C would be interesting.
>>217277261Why is movie marketing so awful? The marketing should make it look like a depressing workplace drama. You should not see ANYTHING about the plane crash or being stranded on an island in the promotional material. It ruins it
