How come there are so many british docokinos about doing literally anything in the victorian age or the edwardian age or the georgian age but there arent any american docokinos about living in the colonial age
>>214418397Telling people that used to be self-sufficient and rebeled against a tyrannical government is a big no-no.
>>214418397iirc pbs and other places have done some colonial Williamsburg stuff, but nothing quite like the farm seriesfor me it's Tudor farm
They always end up making it about the worst parts of history about Indian or blacks or witch burning. Then people start turning it off. Like Dr Who doing episodes about Americans.
>>214418397Because most Americans don't care about history, so if they made no one would watch it. But it would be a fucking great documentary, same shit as history farm instead of English people just follow US people.
>>214418397the old davy crockett disney series is kino. The problem is america has since been unironicallly conquered and judaized by people who hate the original colonists way of life and actively try to erase and rewrite our history.

Any actor-character that presence not only isn’t necessary, but also is a detriment to the plot. For example, I can’t think of any character more useless than Neville Longbottom played by the unfamous lying Matthew Lewis. In PDF File Stone, Neville is used 4 times too many. We are introduced to him by Hermione walking inside each cabin to look for the missing frog, but sadly his first mention wasn’t even necessary since Hermione was going into each cabin to tell people to change into their wizard clothes (because is a minor plot hole since it’s the job of the prefect). The second time we see him its in front on Mcgonnal where he find the missing frog, this could have been replaced by simply showing pettergrew jumping away from Ron (which could have been re-used when they find out that she can turn into cat, and/or for 3rd movie foreshadow). Then we see him with the red crystal thing and the flying lesson, this could have been completely replaced by having Draco steal something from Hermione, having Harry do his hero thing and having hermionne throwing a fit about breaking rules, which could have been followed by the scene which Ron mentioned its no wonder she has no friends. Finally we have that pathetic scene in which he tries to stand up to the trio, this could have been completely removed by simply having Dumbledore give more rigged point to the trio. Chamber of Azkaban : there are only 2 scene, the first one is the herbology class in which he faints (useless comic relief, could have used a random extra). Also, herbology is Neville forte because he is supposed to grow like the plants and the second is him being lifted by Pixles to the chandelier (easily replaced by having the Pixles pick one of Harry Book to the ceiling.
Half Blood Prince : unless to be a stupid comic relief by serving during slughorn party, he has 0 purpose. In the book harry think he saw him dead (if only)Deathly Hollow : stole all the parts of Dean, Dean Thomas was supposed to lead Dumbledore army, that’s why he got arrested to the Malfoy manor and why Harry meet Dean’s father. Sadly JK Rowling felt it was too much and cut all dean part of the book but there are left over, that’s why Neville glow up never made sense cause he was never supposed to have one. In fact, when Dean was arrested, Neville would take over and the Dumbledore Army would start grumbling until Harry join them back again. Then Dean was supposed to kill the snake. In the end, Matthew Lewis wasn’t necessary, shouldn’t have been cast and his presence only make the story worst. Hopefuly the tv serie cut his character, or make him fall of the boat and killed by the giant squid in the first episode.

Consider this: it must take something like talent to manage to stand out as the dullest character in the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.>a-at least the books were good though"No!"The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
Good thread OP. I can't think of any just yet. But here's a bump. I'll come back and add someone a bit later

Was good but a little overhyped like others have said. I would have liked a little more lore and a few of the scenes were too darkly shot which felt streamerslopish, plus the ending didn't quite live up to the potential of the early set up.Overall a solid 7/10
