What are the best kinos to be produced in/by this country?
>>215554781>Le Revolution FrancaiseLa*
>>215554850merci also, Danton was incredibly based throughout that kino (it's entirely available on youtube)
I watched Pacifiction recently and it was one of the most beautiful movies I've watched in a very long time. But it's VERY slow without much plot and quite long. But it was visually stunning. I'm going to watch it again soon'ish.
>>215554781Slightly off-topic as I'm not just looking for French kinos here, but kinos in general about the French Revolution. I've seen the one mentioned in that post, and I've also seen "Danton", pic related, with Gerard Depardieu. Any other kinos about the French Revolution worth watching? Incredibly fascinating period in history that works so well on screen.
>>215554931Not sure I would call it kino, but there is The Scarlet Pimpernel.I also enjoyed Jeanne du Barry a lot (took my mom to see it at the cinema, accidentally gaslit her by forgetting to tell her the entire movie is in french kek) It takes place before the french revolution though, and leads right into it, another great movie to see if you want to see what caused the french revolution which caused napoléon which caused .. I love history.

Goku doesn't possess the one-sided, pretentious sense of justice found in American superheroes. He gets angry when his friends are hurt. He fights because, as a martial artist, he wants to be stronger than anyone else. That's something any child can understand perfectly well.
>>215554878it's the most basic power fantasy, while comic book super heroes of the west were busy being dramatic about their past or morals or simping after girls - DBZ was just about settling problems by training and fighting.
>horrible digital photography, dubious lighting, and bad CGI>soap opera tier dialogue (some of it so bad that I refuse to believe it was lifted from Shelley)>Oscar Isaac, one of the best actors of his generation, gives a completely undirected performance, flailing and gurning>as always, the monster dindu nuffin (didn’t it murder William and Elizabeth in the book?)Aside from the predictably impeccable production design and Elordi’s performance, this film was completely pedestrian and underwhelming. What the fuck?? I thought this is something that Del Toro has worked at and thought about for decades, why is the direction on the level of a high school play? An interesting contrast for this film is Eggers’ Nosferatu: both are idee fixe passion project classic horror remakes, with roots reaching back into the physically meticulous writer-director’s childhood, yet Nosferatu -- which is by no means a perfect film -- completely mogs Frankenstein and succeeds in all the things this film failed at.

insane 'tutoring' anon, have you ever read Terry Deary's (Horrible Histories) view on this whole thing?https://www.theguardian.com/education/2003/aug/12/schools.historyandhistoryofart> "It worries me that my books are used so widely in schools," he says. "If teachers use them and they are perceived as the establishment text, then kids will stop reading them. And then where will they go for the alternative voice?"> As if on cue, he then lets rip. "I've no interest in schools," he continues. "They have no relevance in the 21st century. They were a Victorian idea to get kids off the street. Who decided that putting 30 kids with only their age in common in a classroom with one teacher was the best way of educating? At my school there were 52 kids in the class and all I learned was how to pass the 11-plus. Testing is the death of education.> "Kids should leave school at 11 and go to work. Not down the mines or up chimneys, mind, but working with computers or something relevant. Everything I learned after 11 was a waste of time. Trigonometry, Boyle's law: it's never been of any use to me. They should have been teaching me the life skills I was going to need, such as building relationships, parenting and managing money. I didn't have a clue about any of these things at 18. Schools need to change."do you agree?
>>215554980Totally agree. I never meant that tutoring should go on for as long as the current 11-12 years of mandatory schooling.3-4 years can suffice, depending on what the child finds interesting and whether it's feasible to learn solo.
