>>217436421Movie was mid but this scene was absolute kino. My feelings on the original movie too was that the first 20 minutes are the kino when it's all coming apart in the studio.
"When there is no more room in Hell, the dead shall walk the Earth."Dawn of the Dead remake was particularly unsettling due to the unhappy ending. It also had some pretty rough scenes like the zombie giving birth to a zombie baby. One of my favorite zombie films but you have to be in the mood for it. Very much an end of the world type movie with no survivors.
>>217437118The very end where they land on the island and are immediately swarmed by zombies already there is one of the biggest fuck you endings I've ever seen. All that work and suffering for nothing.
>>217437118Return of the Living Dead is good for that too. Virtually invincible and intelligent zombies, and it also inspired the zombies being fast in the Dawn remake since it was scarier than the shambling type.
>>217437143>>217437147The DVD has the extra footage of Andy the gun shop guy. It tells his story and how he came to be trapped in the gun store. He records his survival on a VHS that also shows bits of his family and his life. It is also very tragic and does not end well.

>>217434577Why are you seething so hard at opposing views? This is how I respond>the point of the Samson story and why Kelson died at the end of itThe point was the revolt of a man in an unjust society. At the start, when Samson was a rage zombie, the hunter is chasing a deer while zombies chase him, clearly advocating for the common “humanity” per se between humans and rage zombies, which is a motif in the movie. Then Samson savagely kills him and screams. This is right after the scene with Jimmy and the gang forcing Spike to kill a finger. Therefore the alpha parallels Jimmy. Then, as Samson comes back alone to the doctor, he is beginning to feel reservations about his society. He gets injected with morphine to alleviate his rage and distances himself from his savage kin. This is literally what Spike does in the first movie and tries to do in this one around this time by running out in the barn scene and trying to escape with the woman. Samson parallels Spike, not Kelly; Kelly is an afterthought and not symbolically significant because we know nothing about her. >it’s not about curing the virus and saving the world Yes negro I am aware there is symbolic meaning. Newsflash: the plot still matters and i assume it will be about that. >human evil of the “people killing people” varietyNot really an “idea” you can explore. The savageness of people in these movies is an element that serves other ends, I.e., the actual ideas >Jim is now the model of the man Spike is looking to be,Indeed. That is why I suppose that challenging that ideal would be the topic of the next movie.

>>217436644Technically from Discovery. Not watching ACK to hunt down a screencap. A friend of mine pointed out how dumb the holo-screens are when Picard came out (cause they use them in that series too) and she was right.Holo screens are dumb. Its like if you ever took apart an old LCD monitor and removed the backing light. Sure, it kinda looks cool but its impossible to use as a monitor. It makes less sense than the gibberish LCARS panels because we can pretend LCARS are buttons with functions, whereas holo-screens are just CGI trash. They add to the already bloated CGI budget, aren't necessary to make a set look futuristic and are illogical.
I do not particularly care about Star Trek, even the good stuff, but my condolences for those that like what Star Trek used to be. Everything over the last how many years I have seen clips on or gathered through osmosis about the new stuff comes across as utter shit - it must be contemptible for actual fans to see what has become of it.
I hate the STD "objects floating near each other" design philosophy but I have to admit the Athena is nearly a beautiful ship. If the bits were all stuck together it would be really nice.

>>217436911Shaved was popular in the 1920s-1950s in european and civilized american circles. it was the 1960s that brought hairiness back in fashion in both men and women, bc it was "natural". Even in '67 the mod girls still shaved, and french models & fashion girls still shaved. When shaving came back, it wasn't 80s, it was '77, because porn was now being shot on 35mm, whch you could see clearly, and it made crotches look less dirty. The shaving = pedophilia came out of the social conservatives of the satanic panic, who imagined all manner of stupid shit about post-bronze-age sexuality. You people are still dead fucking wrong about your "common sense" being a reliable source of information 2700 years later.
>>217437110Thats the thing, no one likes that LARP shit. There was a South Park about it, the one when they go to the historical park. All the people pretending to be in the past is lame.Greenfield Village has some people dress up and running various old timey stuff but they aren't in character most of the time. They're here in the modern times and act like it. Its waaaayyyyy better. Most Disney ride attendants are the same, they know the lines but aren't hard "in character" if you talk to them like normal people. One time I went to Greenfield Village and they had the local highschool theater kids in full historical clothing having a fake (with real food) dinner in the farm house at like 1 pm. We walked in not realizing they were in there and tried to "nope" out but the "mom" called us in and said it was ok.We reluctantly go inside and here their talk about a traditional 1850's dinner, blah blah blah. Full character. We go into the parlor room where one lone dude is sitting, also in period clothing and we're just like "yo" and he obviously sensed how uncomfortable every person that had come in that day had been and was just like "yo." No one really likes the "full in character" shit in theme parks or old timey parks/museums. The most they want is a ride operator who is good at delivering their lines as they herd you into the flight simulator box but also can break character when the little kid in the group is freaking out and crying. The whole concept of a LARP hotel sounds like a nightmare to me. I'd imagine about 97% of the human population would agree. Thats a tight margin to cater to.I've heard Greenfield Village stopped the full in character stuff, aside from the occasional Civil War reenactment. Smart move. Only the mentally ill like role-playing to that degree.
>>217437169>>217437278I think one of those "closed rides" youtubers has done just that. I was already familiar with Greenfield Village but IIRC I learned about Walt stealing the idea from one such vid. Anyone who has ever been to Disneyland/Magic Kingdom and Greenfield Village would naturally notice the similarities. Henry Ford didn't have steam trains in the original park but they added a Disney style loop in the 1970's.(Ford wanted the park to be super old fashion as an escape from modern society but thats changed now. Ironically the park has a fleet of Model T's driving guests around on tours, something Ford would've hated considering his original goal.)He also built a massive museum next door thats a replica of Independence Hall and has the chair Lincoln was shot in and the limo Kennedy was shot in and a bunch of non-brutal stuff. Now thats Disneys getting overpriced and hollowed out it might become the better destination for tourist soon (in the summertime.)
