Most complaints seem to be that it's slow and not scary, but still everyone has been praising Russell Crowe's performance. I think people were expecting over-the-top movie like Pope's Exorcist, and have been too harsh on this. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure that I will enjoy it.

Yesterday I watched Lake Mungo, it was fantastic. Really enjoyed the tragic aspect of the story, how the supernatural was a vehicle for a human drama while remaining unnerving and subtle. Ghostwatch is also an awesome found footage film with a live mockumentaryish feel. Blair Witch Project is obviously essential viewing.

Saw it today. The setup is interesting, of all things it's really about alcoholism and child sex abuse in the church. But the horror elements are cliched to the max, and OF COURSE the daughter, the second main character, is a lesbian dating a black girl. Also there are barely any kill scenes and the character you want to see die the most the truly evil director who taunts him for having gotten raped, doesn't die. It's an all over failure, and Crowe looks stupid when he's possessed

I wish I had seen it live. It must have been incredible. I've heard it compared to the tv version of Orson Well's War of the World Hoax and I believe it. It's sad that this kind of spectacle can't be reproduced like this anymore. Sure, online you've got ARGs, but the problem is that they are rarely seen as legitimate because they don't have the backing of traditional media. They carry on that spirit that that effect is just not coming back.

They should make a futuristic saw movie where it's in space like how other popular franchises have done. The cult of jigsaw kept his brain in safe keeping over the years while carrying on his work until technology became advanced enough to use his brain to create a bio-android. Now he lives again and can continue his games, pushing them further with new technologies he's never laid hands on before. Heavily de-age the actor since he's supposed to look uncanny since he's a droid now

Can the demon jump to a new victim through gay sex or does it have to be M/F?

The obvious solution is have sex with one of your beta orbiters(as per the movie), have him to fly out to San Francisco, install Grindr, and have some guy plunder his bussy. Fags are so promiscuous they probably won't catch on that a demon is shadowing them before it spreads to the next host.

Easier is to just fly to Japan, go to their red-light district, fuck a prostitute, and fly back. It would take an extreme amount of time for the entity to walk across the globe, kill all of them, and walk all the way back to you. Then you can just do it all over again.

I mean, when you ramp up the edginess this far you're pretty much boxed into a corner. Art kills a kid? Meh. The Final Girl of the previous movie gets brutally dispatched early on? Done before. It's a Christmas movie so Art kills a family opening gifts on Christmas Day? Yawn.

>>200574296
>Art kills a kid? Meh.
The fun of these movies is to be as mean spirited and over the top as possible and even with that I don't think they have the balls to kill off the kid they teased in the trailer. Sure, Art killed the kids being babysat in All Hallow's Eve but it happened offscreen. If this girl dies it's going to be a very muted pussified death, if she get's a Terrifier 2 bedroom tier death scene that would be impressive, but I think they'll do something le ebin subversive (which actually wouldn't be subversive but very predictable) and let her live. Something like he just gives her a candy cane and then leaves.
>The Final Girl of the previous movie gets brutally dispatched early on?
She seems to be the director's pet project, I wish she would be the opening kill because I don't give a fuck about her but he's already set her up to be the descendant of some archangel that's destined to defeat Art the clown or whatever retarded shit went down at the end of the second movie, I don't remember, was awful.

Russell Crowe deserves better. And so do you. "The Exorcism" is a soul-crushing experience, not in a good, demonic way, but in a way that leaves you feeling like you've just spent two hours trapped in a damp basement with a flickering light bulb.

The plot? It's about as fresh as last week's exorcism movie. Crowe plays a washed-up actor (typecasting much?) who takes a role in a cursed film about, shocker, an exorcism. Originality award goes to... someone else. The possession is a snoozefest, relying on tired tropes and Crowe sleepwalking through pea soup-thick makeup. The talented supporting cast suffers a similar fate, their characters as one-dimensional as a possessed child's drawing.

The only scares you'll experience are from checking your watch and realizing you're still stuck in this cinematic purgatory. The film starts with a glimmer of hope, hinting at a clever self-aware angle. But just like a flickering candle in a demonic wind, that spark is extinguished quicker than you can say "The Exorcist" (the good one, not this pale imitation).

Instead of chills, you'll get eye rolls at the predictable jump scares and forced religious symbolism. The pacing is slower than a possessed snail on valium, and the plot twists are about as surprising as finding out the priest wears a white collar.

Do yourself a favor. Skip the popcorn and the exorcism. Watch paint dry, listen to your dentist explain root canals, heck, even stare at a wall for two hours. It will be a more thrilling and terrifying experience than subjecting yourself to this cinematic dumpster fire.

Interviews I don't like because I know they'll say what the company wants. It's always the same shit of everyone praising each other. SFX stuff can be good to see how it's done as long as it's practical effects. Showing a creature model on a computer screen isn't exciting.

I actually don't mind the newest timeline of Halloween. Halloween 2018 is one of the better sequels. It's easily better than 5,6,resurrection, and the rob zombie ones. Would say it's better than h20 slightly. Kills wouldn't even be terrible if they just released a new cut of it with the stupid mistaken identity crap taken out of it
>>
>>200589441
Kills is the only one of these shitty movies worth watching.
2018 is just a shitty rehash of everything other movies have done before for the sake of nostalgiawank.
Ends is meandering trash with some gay Michael protege plot that ultimately goes nowhere.
At least Kills is a fun retarded slasher.

If you want to watch Halloween movies they aren't bad though, they are easily all mid tier compared to the franchise as a whole. Half of the movies are absolutely horrible. Yeah F13 is the most consistent series and has more good entries, but the first Halloween is superior to most F13s. I'd rank the first two F13s close to Halloweeen 1 but that's personal preference.

They were near a highway which was probably clogged with crashed cars so people wander off it towards the farm house, Ben drove to the house when his truck was running out of gas, and then there was a family who walked there after they got attacked on the road earlier. I always thought that in a zombie apocalypse, being in a farm house was dangerous because those thing stick out like a sore thumb surrounded by rural land -- after human population is down like in the Walking Dead, in the middle of a suburban sprawl would be safest, an area with big fenced yards.

It was just really boring to me. The original creepypasta was much too short to be stretched over 6 episodes and the characters are so bland and unmemorable. why is every horror movie nowadays just long drawn-out sequences of nothing leading up to the next kill? 99% of the "content" is just how cool and wacky the kills are
>>
>>200601324
That's literally every slasher movie, what are you fucking talking about
>>
>>200601352

my point is good slasher movies have other redeeming qualities to them besides the gore and violence. this was a complete snoozefest with LITERALLY nothing to it besides the kills

Just finished it. I thought it was good.
Best of the year so far anyway, because it feels like it does everything it's trying to do. Cinematography was good, told the story in an interesting way, turning it into just another slasher with more teen dialog wouldn't have improved it.

>I have a low attention span and a low IQ. I cannot comprehend most books, any math beyond very basic shit, and cannot make any criticism of things. I have wasted most of my life on video games, movies, and 4chan. I usually don't even comprehend the themes of the movies I watch. I have to wear glasses due to poor eyesight. I am weak and my arms look like a female. Everyone thinks always thinks I am retarded or annoying. I am uncreative, and cannot even think of long term goals for myself. I feel disgusted when I look in the mirror at my ugly appearance. I am very likely an actual retard.
Horror films for that feeling when you are literally a retard?

Horror in the High Desert slides over you like a film should for a smooth brain. It's like slick TV slop, except a FF horror film.

The girl's name in The Last Exorcism is Nell. Not the actress's name, the character's.
>>
>>200603839
The webm filename doesn't show up. What's her name?
>>
>>200604175
oh, kek. the actresses name is Ashley Bell and B is right by N so I thought it was a typo.

Nell Tiger Free, star of The First Omen.

Figured that's what happened. I've noticed the Nell/Bell similarity with her name before.

The final 15 minutes was one of the most unbearable sequences in any horror movie I've ever seen. Completely ruined the movie. What race was that thing too?
>>
>>200607172
The whole concept of the movie was you seeing the other side of slasher movies that you don't usually see. What the final girl does immediately after escaping is part of that. Like Marilyn Burns gets into the truck at the end of TCM and then the movie's over. In this one they show you the awkward post trauma ride away from the chaos, while also tying it into that theme of the unknowability of natural "evil" with the story of the bear. I don't think it worked, but that's why it's there.
>>
>>200607172
Didn't really bother me because there was still some tension, waiting for him to explode out of the trees.

I signed up for to see a slasher movie from the slasher's perspective. I didn't sign up to watch some dried up roastie and tranny ramble about a bear attack for fifteen minutes.
