CK3 also fundamentally changed a lot of things for the worse. Under her they started like a dozen projects, presumably going for a "shotgun approach" to development. I don't remember for how long she was in, but eventually she got fired and almost all the projects that she began were cancelled. Paradox as far as I'm aware has still been enjoying commercial success with the casualization of their main IPs, but obviously this has come with the detriment to overall depth and most of their original audience hasn't been happy with anything released after Imperator. They have some interesting things in their games and some interesting ideas, the main draw of CK3 personally for example is the dynamic culture, ethnicity, and religions. But overall things are just dumbed down for greater mass appeal.

Their pain and suffering directly translated into amazing projects under which you could really feel the passion behind them. Now they have more staff, constant vacations, less being done (simply look at the timeline of CK2 DLCs vs CK3 DLCs) and the quality and scope of what has been added has been significantly less. CK2 would have big DLC patches accompanied by free QoL patches, now those lower-effort QoL patches are basically what you're paying for in CK3. CK2 had DLC to play merchant republics and nomadic hordes, both of which still aren't playable in CK3 going on 3 years after launch. Plus CK3 devs were more concerned with editing history files and removing CoAs (which they did within the first week) but somehow it took them 6 months to fix crusades being completely fucking broken in CRUSADER Kings 3.

That was not the thorough version though, the thorough version went over the 2000 limit and I had to scrap it and start anew kekAs for how skinchanging works, I haven't checked the game's files but from my experience, every now and then you get an event to gain the animals associated to the bloodlines. I was playing a Greyjoy before with Farwynd and Blackwood bloodlines and I got a raven and a sea lion, same for his relatives, so it's not tied to the region. I've also had the Farwynd line as a Blackfyre at KL and got more whales too. So I assume it depends on the bloodline: Vultures for the Blackmonts, cranes for the Cranes, bats for Whents and Lothstons, wolves for the Starks, lizard lions for the Cailins and bears for the Mormonts. The last three get a family event too, similar to Ned's kids finding their wolves. Don't know what the Banefort get, which makes me want to play as them to find out. Getting an animal is one of the three ways to join the Skinchanger society, the others being having skinchanging ancestry to get a pop up message when you load your save or having the green sight trait. And once you're in the society, you can get quests to gain more animals, with a chance to forge "the Great Warg" bloodline. Varamyr Six-Skins at Hardhome has it, so you can check if you want it.
