Demon Knight starring Billy Zane edition

what kino's are we watching tonight?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to appreciate V/H/S: Beyond. The found footage format is groundbreaking, a revolutionary step in the genre that shatters the boundaries between the viewer and the story. Each segment, a living nightmare, is a work of art that pushes the limits of fear and perception. The fragmented storytelling, the disturbing visuals, and the unconventional structure all contribute to a cinematic experience that’s not for the faint of heart.

V/H/S: Beyond isn’t just a horror anthology; it’s an exploration of the human condition, a meditation on existential dread and the fragility of reality. The way it bends time and space, manipulating the viewer’s sense of immersion—it’s something only truly perceptive minds can grasp. You wouldn’t understand it if you don’t have a background in psychological horror, surrealist cinema, or if you’re not capable of understanding abstract symbolism in media. Most people just watch it for the jump scares, but those with the intellectual depth can appreciate the deeper meanings at play.

It’s not just a film—it’s an experience, an invitation to confront your deepest fears. But honestly, unless you’re mentally prepared to question everything you thought you knew about reality, it might just be too much for you.

The Nightmare on Elm Street tv show had an episode where the parents burn human Freddy Krueger.
It's actually the first episode and it's directed by Tobe Hooper (which I didn't remember until I just looked it up.) I'm sure you can find it somewhere.
Not all episodes of the show are actually about Freddy, only a few are. He was the host and it was a Tales from the Crypt type show. He'd pop in and do commentary on the stories.

am i insane in thinking saw is a lot more disturbing/uncomfortable than terrifier? like, ok, maybe the gore is more explicit in terrifier, but there's way less of it and it's played for laughs
the idea that this is the goriest movie ever or inaccessible to general audience is retarded

>>
>>204370446
It asks me for a phone number to sign up
>>
>>204370277
Definitely. The gore in Saw 3 is visceral and disturbing (often leaning into body horror type shit), the gore in Terrifier is over the top and meant to be like a Mortal Kombat fatality.
>>204370383
Saw 3 is more brutal/disgusting than Terrifier 2. I had no trouble getting through Terrifier 2 and I thought Saw 3 was very shocking.
>>
>Happy Halloween...you filthy old hag!
>>
My local theater isn't showing Terrifier 3 and I refuse to drive an hour to see it.
>>
>>204370468
I'm not discussing whether it was more "brutal" or "disgusting", which is a subjective opinion. There is factually MORE gore in Terrifier 2 than Saw 3.
>>
>>204370530
terrifier is done like a cartoon
it doesn't even go for truly uncomfortable shit like teeth/nails
>>
Lol, I put a random number and it sent a verification code there.
>>
>>204370277
The way I see it, Saw is the type of horror that makes you physically cringe with minimal gore (needle pit), while Terrifier is all about sheer excess.
I guess it depends on the person.
>>
>>204370564
I accept your concession
>>
>>204370446
How did you sign up?
>>
>>204370530
I guess, but anon was saying that the Saw movies are more disturbing and uncomfortable which is definitely true. And the actual gore that is in the Saw movies is more brutal.
>>
>>204370617

>>
>>204370643
Tbh I don't know if he's wrong. Some of the Saw sequels are on par with the Terrifier movies in terms of amount of gore. Terrifier isn't 2 hours of bedroom scenes, it's usually quick gore sequences just like the Saw sequels. Maybe Terrifier 2 is a bit gorier but it's not a huge difference.

Shot on Video. It's a microbudget movie shot on a camcorder instead of a film camera. SOV movies are one step above home movies.
Video Violence is pretty competent for an SOV movie so it's worth watching if you're interested. Most of them will be a lot shittier than this, Video Violence is actually sorta good even though it's completely amateur.

Watched V/H/S/Beyond.

Why was /tv/ so down bad on this one? It's probably the 3rd or 4th best V/H/S. Sure, the Indian segment almost made me puke (well before the "monster" reveal) and the last segment was cheap shit, but zombies vs cops and the Justin Long part were good. Aliens vs skydivers could've been good if I the humans didn't make it impossible to root for them.

Nosferatu was pretty awesome. I hadn't slept and was on the verge of passing out while watching it so I had to keep rewinding but I was engaged enough to keep pushing through instead of falling asleep. I didn't think a silent movie would be that engaging, I really liked the exaggerated over the top performances of the actors and the pacing was good (besides the intertitles staying up for forever.)

Early 90's still had leftover 80s so it's no surprise the horror made in those years were good. All of the films you mentioned could've easily been made in the 80's and well respected.

For some reason people don't like Abel Ferreras Body Snatchers. I liked how it was a military base which is a bit similar to the 80's remake of Invaders from Mars (very underrated) on how it would be the most logical means to stage infiltration and replacement. And the tentacles grafting on the victim's faces is akin to rape (which it is on a genetic level) because it robs you of your memories and appearance while you wither away.

>>204374792
I adore Gabrielle Anwar (she was so fucking cute from 1989 in Voyage of the Dawn Treader to the 90's Disney Three Musketeers with Chris O'Donnell, Keifer Sutherland, and Charlie Sheen) and Meg Tilly (Tex, One Dark Night, Psycho II, The Girl in a Swing, Valmont, Masquerade, Off Beat, The Two Jakes, and Body Snatchers). In fact, Meg Tilly's whole speech about "Where you gonna go?" was improvised because she dealt with years of abuse by her stepfather and channeled those fears and helplessness. The scream was even all hers too.

Her acting is so much better than her sister Jennifer. No offense to Jennifer, but outside the Child's Play franchise and Family Guy, I don't remember her roles besides the lesbo kino she did with Gina Gershon.

Meg was the more talented Tilly sister. And it really sucks that she trained as a ballerina until a back injury (her partner dropped her) ruined it. So she had to turn to acting.

Her role as Chloe in The Big Chill is so adorable. And I just saw Impulse, a more subdued version of the Crazies made in 1984 about a chemical that drives people to unleash their base desires.

Oh there's a great noir series called Fallen Angels that starred Meg, Gabrielle and Gary Oldman in the 90's on Showtime. It's pretty good and I wished Meg had done more work in the 90's before she quit to raise her kids. I truly envy her producer husband that got to tap her prime pussy from 1983 to 1989. And then Colin Firth had it from 1989 to 1994.

Agnes of God.

Yeah Tubi had it a while ago. I hate Jane Fonda but she was good in that while Meg deserved her Golden Globes award for it. She was truly Hollywood's It Girl from 1982 to 1986 (it helped that her husband was a producer, but she DID have acting to back it up). In fact, the director of Amadeus raved about her and it was a freak soccer match that had her injured and she couldn't played Constanza (which sucks big time, I'd argue her career would've been even bigger had she been in Amadeus).

There was a late 80s or early 90's Chinese-language horror movie one of my buddies rented from an Asian video store. It had a vampire infiltrate a hotel and he slowly turned the guests into vampires and ghouls while there was a Chinese vampire hunter that used talismans and bladed weapons to kill them with the help of a female guest.
