>>204376026Why don't they make a Nightmare prequel? When Freddie was a child murderer? Ever see the intro to Freddy vs Jason with his backstory flashback? They could make it a truly kino experience by never actually showing him murder the kids, but the events leading up to it while we see Freddy playing a janitor, husband, and father in the neighborhood and even "assist" in the search parties for the kids. We see the POV of the cops, the parents, the school, etc.

>mfw the spooktober mood finally kicked in
>>204376422Yup. He's not at the forefront. He's one of the minor characters that we see with other people. Fred the Janitor whom people wave to and he nods and does his work. Or grab a beer with at the bar or see with his wife and toddler daughter at community gatherings. He acts concerned when there's missing children and tells his wife to keep her under close watch. Meanwhile the cops and school authorities have a pow-wow with Freddy in attendance (he IS part of them technically) and they all talk about how they have to be vigilant on the children and report any suspicious activity. This causes Krueger to change his MO and abduct children off school grounds. The children trust him because he's Mr. Fred the sarcastic janitor that they see everyday and he always cracks a quip or joke with a smile. Nobody would ever suspect plain old Mr. Fred who has the most adorable little girl and a salt-of-the-Earth wife.

Thinking about rewatching Azrael tonight. I wasn't paying terribly close attention in regards to picking up visual, story-telling details first time around. >>204378750Exactly. We can see the mob of parents become hateful monsters in human form. You can't blame them for wanting to avenge their kids and putting a stop to Krueger, but we see them have the same maniacal glimmer in their eyes like Krueger does. So in the end, Krueger won. They can never get their children back and he turned them into killers. His legacy will forever haunt Springwood and of course he'll come back later to kill the next gen of kids through their dreams.

>>204379378in the small amount of behind the scenes chit chat i've absorbed, someone said execs have no idea if something will be liked or not. yet back in the 80s, they were churning out exactly what the audience wanted and raking in millions. i think they just don't want to deliver what the audience (still) wants, because they're socially detached fart sniffing retards. this isn't rocket science. there's a simple formula for everything that clicks, just apply the formula.
>>204379127Yeah that's what I figured it would be and I'm disappointed it wasn't. They could've done some cool stuff with it - sorta like the beginning of The Collection. >>204378964Like all Shyamalan films, it insists upon itself. interesting premises but they always get goofy after a while and the payoffs aren't worth it. this one is whatever, runs a bit long but it's fine for a late night watch if you have nothing else. not as shit as knock at the cabin.
>>204378234there is no supernatural elements in this yet, so it shouldnt be hard to do proper and "tasteful" if you give it to someone who gives a shit and not some sleezy studio that just wants to churn out a quick buck
>>204378920Reminds me of this
>>204379431Back then, studio execs actually had life experience. You couldn't solely rely on nepotism. Networking might put your foot in the door, but you had to produce. Nowadays we have talentless hacks who demand that things be done and any failure to execute their vision is the fault of their underlings and never them. I also chalk it up to the 2008 writers' strike. Writers in Hollywood were actual normies for the most part. They dated, had social lives, went to war, etc. They knew how to write people not soap box caricatures. Nowadays whenever I see a modern character, they don't come off as genuine. They just seem to be a human prop for ideology or a sock puppet to demonize someone or an ideology. Look at Dazed and Confused. It was a 90's film set in the 70's. You could actually believe those were real high school teens. The same for Empire Records or Can't Hardly Wait. Even Mean Girls (the original 2004) or The Duff actually has 3-dimensional people.

>>204379548>studio execs actually had life experienceyeah this 100%. the people who broke into the business in the 70s and cut their teeth on real productions, made by real workman directors, starring classicaly trained actors, got a good dose of experience. the KNB guys are a good microcosm: work with savini on shit slashers, create an entire special effects methodology from scratch, teach it to the next generation, and by the following one, everything is CGI and they're dinosaurs. hollywood now is like a copy of a copy of a copy, second or third generation wealth trying to write "real" characters but instead they're wood and like you said, soap box caricatures. it's a damn shame. they really do need to fire just about everyone in that town and recruit new blood.

Vaguely remember watching the first Terrifier on a whim years ago. Bizarre that it of all movies ended up becoming a cultural touchstone. It's would be like Hollywood deciding next year to make a sequel to Raw or As Above So Below or the Taking of Deborah Logan and marketing it to Tik Tok kids.

>>204379639How would they react if there were independent moviemakers with old school values and ability making low budget but incredibly well-made and well-written films? Would they freak the fuck out and try to poach them?

>>204381022No, plz share a link or magnet kind JCun enjoyer.
>>204381036The IslandDeep Rising, I mean they're modern pirates but still pirates
I’m watching Terrifier and Terrifier 2 before going to see the new one tonight. I just finished the first one and it’s a modern horror classic: hilarious, gory, and no bullshit. What’s the consensus on #2?
>>204381022>like SuspiriaAll you need to say to get my attention lol
>>204381022Never even heard of this movie. Now I need to see this
i feel like i'm rewatching the same horror films over and over. how many years have i lurked here with no memories of iti's been 5 movies in a row that i don't remember watching but as i watch them i have this weird sensation that i already didAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Is Jeffrey Combs still doing horror?
>>204376077The Monkey and the new Leo PTA flick aren't even on here
>>204381108If you like the first one you'll like the second>>204380624It's an accurate representation of how deranged leftists are. It's a story of a bunch of pinkos going up against someone crazier than themselves.
>>204379349I hope you start with All Hallows Eve
>>204381108Most people like it better than the first but I find the first better.Terrifier 2 has more comic moments with Art and more gore, but also vastly worse pacing and lots of boring character dialogue but many like that in horror, so...Meanwhile the first one is basically just Art stalking and killing with great fast pacing, which I prefer. The third is meant to be more of a mix between both.
>>204380625Butterfly Kisses is pretty good. Maybe check that one out
>>204381230> It's a story of a bunch of pinkos going up against someone crazier than themselves. That's always kino.I love some reverse home invasion etc. movies, sadly they're quite rate as opposed to just victim porn.Dog Lady segment was fun even if not plausible at all, still fun.I've watched 4 out of the VHS Beyond segments and so far it's my favorite entry in the franchise, even the one that I enjoyed the least, the bollywood one, at least had nice gore.
For me it's eliza dushku in wrong turnThe hottest horror movie girl ever
>>204381249All Hallows 3rd segment is still the creepiest and most cruel Art has been desu
>>204381325>wrong turnI love that movie. She and Emmaneulle Chriqui were so hot. But there's no definitive hot horror movie girl. The list is endless.
>>204381346lindy booth wasn't as hot as those two but she rounded out the female cast nicely
>>204381346The list has an end. It ends at exactly 14,378.
>>204381343
>>204381346Even Lindy Booth was hot in that. Damn I gotta watch it again.
>>204379823Terrifier 2 isn't a Hollywood movie>Produced by Bloody Disgusting>Budget $250,000>In limited theaters for 3 weekswow
Just saw picrel. The underwater sequence is unreal, how the fuck?
>>204380804can't find lunology
>>204381411At least it seems 3 is intent on making him creepier again
>>204381177a lot of them have similar topics and scenes, so any dejavu event is normal. almost elevates the horror effect if youre going crazy during it, no?
>>204381473based
Watching no one will save you, any other good grey films
>>204381496or i may have a dissociative disorder
>>204381461doping the sharkBut yeah, CGI and even practical effects would never come close, but pearl clutchers will cry muh hecking sharkerino animal cruelty and deny you this.Which doesn't even make sense, there's one of those Jaw clones that has an erotic undertone and in one scene they hunt 2 bull or tiger sharks underwater, and it looks extremely realistic because they were actually hunting the sharks but animal cruelty etc.I mean, these are the same type of people who will literally call you Hitler for squashing a turtle on camera and eating it later
>>204381249>not starting with The 9th Circle
>>204381510Fire in the Sky abduction sequence, but the rest is boring dialogue drama, still the abduction scenes are the best to the day.CommunionSignsI also like Without Warning, the aliens aren't exactly greys but similar and quite creepy imo especially how they kill people with some Phantasm like fleshy apparatus
>>204381543i'd blame the perpetrator of said feeling first before oneself. its the movies fault :^)
>>204381308I would have liked ratma more if the script for that short wasn't so libtarded. I don't mind left wing or liberal writing but have every other line of dialogure be some kind of 'I'm 14 and this is deep' political statement is a massive drag.
>>204378568So what's the twist? I'm never going to watch it.
>>204381597you know the one where a family is on a highway and they get owned in like a tunnel?
>>204381607there's a cursed movie that makes us mad and we'll never know which one. doomed to watch it over and over again
>>204381788>anon went too deep in the Lovecraft films again

Spooktober 10/31Watched Occult (2009)It's hard to describe the movie, it's very non-traditional at least in my eyes. Even in comparison to other found footage movies, it felt a lot less like a movie and a lot more real. I think the only movie that I've seen that's even remotely close to this feeling of "real" is Zero Day (2003), which I also really enjoyed (Not horror but still). Overall a very unsettling movie which I feel like will be very memorable despite the overall plot being fairly predictable.8/10Also what the fuck was that post credits ending lmao
anyway i'm watching Tusk for the first time after wanting to see it for years, AGAIN
>>204381845Need her to get nude ASAP
coming closer to making an ai sequel to creature from the black lagoon
>>204382066EnjoySome real weird shit and whenever I see that actor now I always just think of Tusk
>>204382059I always mix up Occult and Cult. Both Japanese found footage movies.
>>204382104he really does look the part with his mustache
>>204382108Oh shit, that's by the same director. Haven't seen that one yet, just Noroi: The CurseWould you recommend it?>>204382143Odd role to be connected to
>>204382257>Would you recommend it?I literally just said I can't remember which is which.
Any movies close to Mouthwashing?
>>204381584The 9th Circle is part of All Hallows' Eve.
>>204382285Mixing them up & not being able to remember are differentOccult is the guy who gets stabbed on the bridge who ends up blowing up Shibuya
>>204382496That's the better one of the two.
so THey will save you is kinda cool. They at least ahow the aliens

tales from the darkside didn't hold up so well but the wraparound with little whatshisface and debbie harry is very good. rae dawn chong looks great in this btw. i didnt realize she was the daughter of tommy chong. also there's this:>and her mother, maxine SNEED, ...
>>204382889
>>204382539Thanks anon, guess I'll not put Cult in my immediate to watch list but I'll keep it in mind for one day >>204382797I don't get the terrifier "hate". Maybe people expected something too different from it. I was worried since I've seen a lot of people disliking it but gf wanted to rewatch it with me for my first time and I thought it was just a well made (for what it is) funny goofy horror movies with a cool villain and good effectsIt's obviously not a flawless masterpiece and it's not scary but it's more enjoyable than the average horror movie I've watched
Jennifer's Body was good fun. It follows almost all the conventions for the type of movie it is. A lot of fluff that worked pretty well. You could feel the traces of the late 90s, early 2000s teen movies that likely inspired it. Little bit of Ginger Snaps. And it had /ourguy/ Kyle Gallner in it. He improves the score of any movie he's in.
>>204383120it's one of the best

Heather Langenkamp's episode of "Perversions of Science" from 1996.Each episode is self-contained so it's really a short film. 90s Black Mirror, essentially.https://youtu.be/QzkIGHSlEDIhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perversions_of_Science
I know this is a stupid question, but I have to ask: if I didn't enjoy Terrifer will I enjoy Terrifer 2? I enjoy the genre and I thought the actor that played Art was solid, but I just couldn't give a shit about anyone or anything in Terrifer. T2 gets good press for the protag, so I'm wondering if that'll be more enjoyable.
>>204383266no
>>204383266I liked 2 a lot more than 1. The main issue with 2 is its runtime. A lot of filler
hmm, Daisy Ridley?
