Demon Knight starring Billy Zane editionPrev: >>204352502
what kino's are we watching tonight?
>>204365418To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to appreciate V/H/S: Beyond. The found footage format is groundbreaking, a revolutionary step in the genre that shatters the boundaries between the viewer and the story. Each segment, a living nightmare, is a work of art that pushes the limits of fear and perception. The fragmented storytelling, the disturbing visuals, and the unconventional structure all contribute to a cinematic experience that’s not for the faint of heart.V/H/S: Beyond isn’t just a horror anthology; it’s an exploration of the human condition, a meditation on existential dread and the fragility of reality. The way it bends time and space, manipulating the viewer’s sense of immersion—it’s something only truly perceptive minds can grasp. You wouldn’t understand it if you don’t have a background in psychological horror, surrealist cinema, or if you’re not capable of understanding abstract symbolism in media. Most people just watch it for the jump scares, but those with the intellectual depth can appreciate the deeper meanings at play. It’s not just a film—it’s an experience, an invitation to confront your deepest fears. But honestly, unless you’re mentally prepared to question everything you thought you knew about reality, it might just be too much for you.

>>204367260Your mileage may vary but I enjoyed Critters 4. The sets are nice. It was shot back to back with Critters 3 but they're not very similar, 4 feels like a more "serious" creature movie.

I'm sure you can find it somewhere. Not all episodes of the show are actually about Freddy, only a few are. He was the host and it was a Tales from the Crypt type show. He'd pop in and do commentary on the stories.

am i insane in thinking saw is a lot more disturbing/uncomfortable than terrifier? like, ok, maybe the gore is more explicit in terrifier, but there's way less of it and it's played for laughsthe idea that this is the goriest movie ever or inaccessible to general audience is retarded

>>204370286
>>204370277Have you rewatched a Saw movie recently? I'm not saying Terrifier is inaccessible, because it isn't, but no Saw film has as much gore as Terrifier 2
>>204370295>>204369688Are people chatting? I wanna join. Seems like everybody's fapping
>>204370080Is this the opposite of that S.OY horror chart?

>>204370446It asks me for a phone number to sign up
>>204370277Definitely. The gore in Saw 3 is visceral and disturbing (often leaning into body horror type shit), the gore in Terrifier is over the top and meant to be like a Mortal Kombat fatality.>>204370383Saw 3 is more brutal/disgusting than Terrifier 2. I had no trouble getting through Terrifier 2 and I thought Saw 3 was very shocking.
>Happy Halloween...you filthy old hag!
My local theater isn't showing Terrifier 3 and I refuse to drive an hour to see it.
>>204370468I'm not discussing whether it was more "brutal" or "disgusting", which is a subjective opinion. There is factually MORE gore in Terrifier 2 than Saw 3.
>>204370530terrifier is done like a cartoonit doesn't even go for truly uncomfortable shit like teeth/nails
Lol, I put a random number and it sent a verification code there.
>>204370277The way I see it, Saw is the type of horror that makes you physically cringe with minimal gore (needle pit), while Terrifier is all about sheer excess.I guess it depends on the person.
>>204370564I accept your concession
>>204370446How did you sign up?
>>204370530I guess, but anon was saying that the Saw movies are more disturbing and uncomfortable which is definitely true. And the actual gore that is in the Saw movies is more brutal.
>>204370617What he actually said is simply false>>204370277>like, ok, maybe the gore is more explicit in terrifier, but there's way less of it
>>204370457I dunno what to say, its Twitch :(>>204370611UHh, i made account years ago.
>>204369228Brother, your standards are way too high.
>>204366861You live for the touch for the flash of the blaaaaaade
>>204370643Tbh I don't know if he's wrong. Some of the Saw sequels are on par with the Terrifier movies in terms of amount of gore. Terrifier isn't 2 hours of bedroom scenes, it's usually quick gore sequences just like the Saw sequels. Maybe Terrifier 2 is a bit gorier but it's not a huge difference.
>>204370571
>>204369152probably her super masculine jaw. faggot
>Marketed as le spoopiest mobie ever>Just gore porn?????
>>204370807Yeah I don't understand the appeal of these movies either
Jesus Christ, watching pre-2000s horror anime is a fucking lottery.> rape > rape > tentacle rape > rape > hidden gem > rape > demon rape > rape > decent but the animation sucks > rape > more tentacles > rape > fantastic animation but where's the horror > rape > RAPE > reverse rape
>>204370834>rapeworked for the joker
>>204370807>>204370830Very disingenuous to just ignore all the stuff that very clearly isn't gore porn. I'm not saying it's Citizen Kane but calling it gore porn is just braindead.
>>204370807At least it's not Rise, I hope that movie killed the franchise. NO MORE.
>>204370889Gore porn probably isn't fair but there's not much going on there otherwise. If you like the ED movies that's cool, I just don't get the appeal, never have

SOV movies are one step above home movies.Video Violence is pretty competent for an SOV movie so it's worth watching if you're interested. I’m going to see Terrifier 3 tonight instead since it started today. Maybe I’ll watch Demon Knight when I get back.
Watched V/H/S/Beyond.Why was /tv/ so down bad on this one? It's probably the 3rd or 4th best V/H/S. Sure, the Indian segment almost made me puke (well before the "monster" reveal) and the last segment was cheap shit, but zombies vs cops and the Justin Long part were good. Aliens vs skydivers could've been good if I the humans didn't make it impossible to root for them.
>>204374378It would be a good double feature because Demon Knight has some good gory effects and a fun tone.

>>204374543Are you saying I'm wrong? It's factually true unless you have bad taste. That actually happened. There really were nonstop fantastic horror movies for years.>>204372956>>204372985
Good news, the results of my colonoscopy from last week are in and everything is perfectly fine inside my guts. I know you guys were worried sick and dying to know.
>>204374613this movie pops in my head every time I clean my house
>>204374697More of a thriller but it's set around Halloween so I'll allow it (also it's a good movie)
>>204374331Kino>>204374493Yeah and you can definitely tell, they look great.>>204374700Is that alien one good? I saw all the others as a kid but never that one. I might watch that this month.
>>204374629i also watched nosferatu recently after the dafoe/malkovich one. some of these old movies will surprise you with how good they still are
>>204374596>>204374712Based fellow Ferrara's Body Snatchers enjoyers.
>>204374742how does it feel to lose your anal virginity?
>>204374673I agree. It's just that we can't write off the entire decade. Even non-horror 2010s movies had some creepy moments like Danny McBride cannibalizing James Franco in This is the End (seriously that shit disturbed the fuck out of me, McBride needs to play a serial killer) or the blown tire sequence in Nocturnal Animals.
>>204374603god forbid they do something that's visually interesting for fucking once that isn't solely reliant on shitty CGI. but how could you possibly appreciate that when you like dull shit like cops shooting zombies for like the 3rd time in the franchises history and apparently being a simpsons fan lmfao dumbfuck
>>204374629watch Haxan
>>204374795Like nothing, i didn't feel anything, it was quite trippy actually, one moment i was awake, the next moment i was awake again, it doesn't feel like i slept, it feels like a chunk of time was erased. Drugs are a hell of a drug.
>>204374673>>204374697I love The Guest too, great taste.>>204374759It's definitely leaning more into the thriller genre but it has a lot of slasher influence (especially at the end where it fully becomes one) and it takes place around Halloween so it's sorta horror. The Guest is hard to define desu, it has a bit of every genre. Thriller-Action-Comedy-Scifi-Horror-Drama.
>>204374759i guess, but as you said, its still good for halloween watching. just like donnie darko for example
>>204374700zombie island was good
>>204374697Excellent movie, one of my favorites I’ve watched this year
>>204374596>The Addictionthis one annoyed me last year. very much an art hoe vampire movie like a girl walks home alone at night. there is a connection between addiction and innocent blood thoughever, which i though was funny when watching them very close within each other.
>>204374862Yeah, I like The Guest but it really does turn into a full-on action movie there at the end for a bit.>>204374910I agree with both, comfy Halloween-time watches
>>204374712Early 90's still had leftover 80s so it's no surprise the horror made in those years were good. All of the films you mentioned could've easily been made in the 80's and well respected. For some reason people don't like Abel Ferreras Body Snatchers. I liked how it was a military base which is a bit similar to the 80's remake of Invaders from Mars (very underrated) on how it would be the most logical means to stage infiltration and replacement. And the tentacles grafting on the victim's faces is akin to rape (which it is on a genetic level) because it robs you of your memories and appearance while you wither away. >>204374792I adore Gabrielle Anwar (she was so fucking cute from 1989 in Voyage of the Dawn Treader to the 90's Disney Three Musketeers with Chris O'Donnell, Keifer Sutherland, and Charlie Sheen) and Meg Tilly (Tex, One Dark Night, Psycho II, The Girl in a Swing, Valmont, Masquerade, Off Beat, The Two Jakes, and Body Snatchers). In fact, Meg Tilly's whole speech about "Where you gonna go?" was improvised because she dealt with years of abuse by her stepfather and channeled those fears and helplessness. The scream was even all hers too.
>>204374821>god forbid they do something that's visually interesting for fucking onceNothing about it was visually interesting. Watch more movies underage child.>lmfaoYep, called it.>simpsons fanNever was. I know that you were born well after this was a thing, but Simpsons used to air non stop on the television before the news/before Galileo on Pro Sieben.
>>204374919NTA but based because I'm the anon who told you to watch it. Knew you'd like it. It's one of my favorites as well.>>204375029It goes from thriller to action movie to slasher. The "thriller" part is the same type of movie as stuff like The Stepfather or Orphan though, so you could argue that falls under horror too.
>>204375037Meg Tilly is the best.
>>204374331https://youtube.com/watch?v=MLSCdFtnvqA
>>204375130Her acting is so much better than her sister Jennifer. No offense to Jennifer, but outside the Child's Play franchise and Family Guy, I don't remember her roles besides the lesbo kino she did with Gina Gershon. Meg was the more talented Tilly sister. And it really sucks that she trained as a ballerina until a back injury (her partner dropped her) ruined it. So she had to turn to acting. Her role as Chloe in The Big Chill is so adorable. And I just saw Impulse, a more subdued version of the Crazies made in 1984 about a chemical that drives people to unleash their base desires. Oh there's a great noir series called Fallen Angels that starred Meg, Gabrielle and Gary Oldman in the 90's on Showtime. It's pretty good and I wished Meg had done more work in the 90's before she quit to raise her kids. I truly envy her producer husband that got to tap her prime pussy from 1983 to 1989. And then Colin Firth had it from 1989 to 1994.
>>204375047The visuals were approaching the works of Takashi Makino, a name you've no doubt never heard of. Don't talk to me about watching more movies you sub-5000 watchlet.
>>204375265Ever seen that nun movie she did in the 1980s? Forgot the name, it's been on my list for ages.
>>204374910david was based and he better get his own edition this year
>>204375332Agnes of God. Yeah Tubi had it a while ago. I hate Jane Fonda but she was good in that while Meg deserved her Golden Globes award for it. She was truly Hollywood's It Girl from 1982 to 1986 (it helped that her husband was a producer, but she DID have acting to back it up). In fact, the director of Amadeus raved about her and it was a freak soccer match that had her injured and she couldn't played Constanza (which sucks big time, I'd argue her career would've been even bigger had she been in Amadeus).
>>204375291Stop falseflagging, hater.
How can zoomers eat up all this VHS slop? Haven't they watched the legion of horror movies made prior to 2000?
>tfw forgot which movie I was going to watch
>>204375066I’m glad you told me about it. I got my irl friend to watch it a few days later and he liked it a lot as well. Neither of us had ever heard of it
Everyone, drop whatever the fuck you're doing, and watch this HK action/horror banger!
What's some good alien horror I can watch tonight? Kind of getting burned out on folk horror and feel like switching
Aaron Eckhart is.... Frankenstein
>>204375613it's on my list anon. i'm going to cram in all asian horror over a single weekend.

>>204375613There was a late 80s or early 90's Chinese-language horror movie one of my buddies rented from an Asian video store. It had a vampire infiltrate a hotel and he slowly turned the guests into vampires and ghouls while there was a Chinese vampire hunter that used talismans and bladed weapons to kill them with the help of a female guest. Does anyone know what this is called?
The only "slop" in horror is from Wes Craven
>>204375679Mr. Vampire?
>>204374484Is this good?
>>204375613>Maggie CheungAll I needed to see
>>204375706The Serpent and the Rainbow is proof that Wes could do horror well.
>>204372248Shocker by Wes Craven
>>204375753there's an absolutely gorgeous set of plump brown booba in this movie
>>204375715No not that.
>>204375611Glad you liked it. You're Next by the same director is good as well. He also did another movie with Dan Stevens (The Guest) if you like kaiju, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.>>204375620Communionor Critters
>>204374379This whole franchise is garbage
just watched braindead and thought it was great. frenetic camerawork and overbearing soundtrack with a lot of good hammy cartoonish acting and great gore effectsthen i made the mistake of reading a review where some faggot contrarian said it wasnt actually very gory at all and he almost fell asleep in the first halfi can understand not wanting slapstick in your gore, but acting like you cant see what it's trying to be because you're so caught up in what you would rather it be is retardedalso frogman was cool
>>204375949Top 10 horror film of all time
>>204375949i found the VHS at some antique/second hand shop when i was a teenager. watched it so many times.
>>204375876Yes, and?
>>204374629The guy, max Schreck, who plays Count Orlok/Nosferatu is incredible. We all know the make up but watching the movie it looks even more special. It blows up american classics like Dracula and Frankenstein despite being silent movie
>>204375679Magic Cop?
