day 2 of the festival. This time instead of big blubbering sheboon, there was this nice white girl with curly hair that introduced the film. No phone, no notes, she presented more information, had a sweet personality, and hit all her marks. Very professional. I am not even race baiting, but my disdain for nigs just keeps growing daily. I am not racist but they just never do themselves any favors while constantly pulling for more.

for me it will always be the OG playstation game with all the islands, but I think Crash Team Racing might have been the peak of the series. Just so many hours on that. Also remember 3 being part of the peak of the series, with all the platforms, and being able to play as different characters.

>>204646348
For me, it's:
1-Crash Bandicoot (PSX)
2-Crash Team Racing
3-Crash Bandicoot 3 (PSX)
4-Crash Bandicoot 2
5-Crash 4
6-Crash 2 (N. Sane Trilogy)
7-Crash 1 (N. Sane Trilogy)

N. Sane Trilogy convinced me of the fact that modern remakes are completely fucked. The pill shaped hitboxes makes some parts of the games near unplayable, and others completely broken. That being said, I unironically think OG Crash 1 is one of the most SOVLful games ever made, same with the rest of the PSX games, but specially Crash 1.
>>
>>204646425
bait
>>
>>204646490
damn that is my exact ranking! I stopped around the first PS2 release, because it didn't feel the same at all. I barely remember part 5 of the original PS1 run but it was my least favorite of the OG games.
Crash Bandicoot 2 is kind of boring in the early game, but I remember once you get to the last two platforms the stages are a lot more interesting.
>>
>>204646558
>Crash Bandicoot 2 is kind of boring in the early game, but I remember once you get to the last two platforms the stages are a lot more interesting.
It's fun, but it's the least interesting and easiest of the OG trilogy. I feel like 1 is the most challenging and enjoyable, 3 is the most varied and 2 is like the awkward transition phase between the two.

>>204646640
yeah part 1 sometimes feels to difficult to be a kids game. the Road to Nowhere stage in part 1 still makes my heart skip a beat every time.
>>
>>204646692
Kinda easy to cheese Road to Nowhere and The High Road with the rope trick, but I get your point. Getting the full completion of the game is very hard, nothing compared to getting the platinum relics on N. Sane Trilogy, though. It's ironic how OG Crash 1 should be much more punishing due to how gems work in the game when compared to the remake, but the pill shaped hitboxes strangely make the game much more unfair, specially when trying to get the plat relics. Stormy Ascent was insane!
>>
>>204646865
I was 6-8 when I played the first game so cheesing the environment really didn't come easy to me at all and I finished it the hard way. That said beating Cortex at the end was a lot easier than I expected, a lot of the maps earlier on in the last island were harder than the final boss.

Start with I Vitelloni, it's likely the first Fellini movie where his style is present. It was also an influence for Marty to make Mean Streets.
If you'd like to watch a silent, Sherlock Jr. is neat.
Now, if you'd like to watch something more modern, in color, watch First Reformed. This pick will probably stir some controversy here, but in my opinion it can be a window to discover the works that influenced it like Winter Light and Diary of a Country Priest.

haha, I rated it 4.5 stars, I thought it was fantastic. My only criticism is that John does not show up for the first hour, so I kept on thinking in my head 'when is John going to show up?' but when he does I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The procedural structure of the first act was certainly an interesting way to start the film. I will definitely be re-watching this at some point soon.

The “realism,” misanthropy, or balefulness
never exceeded a melodramatic approach. The situations are set up,
without benefit of characterization. Wilder is a heartless exploiter of
public taste who manipulates situation in the name of satire. He
prefers dialogue to character, sniping to structure. The ending of The
Lost Weekend is a dispiriting compromise not just for the way it
betrays the rest of the film, the strength of the book on which it is
based, and the power of Ray Milland’s performance, but because
Wilder was so clumsy that he dealt with the subject in a way that
could not avoid Hollywood’s sense of a “happy ending.” Comparison
with Preminger shows how meekly Wilder relinquishes his own
venom. A Foreign Affair soon forsakes its picture of postwar Germany
for a sub-Lubitsch love story. Sunset Boulevard slyly confronts
Swanson and von Stroheim with their past without ever really
analyzing or attempting to understand them. Stalag 17 cheats by
having its outsider hero eventually join the gang. Although he
believes in the worst of people, Wilder lacked the will to make
misanthropy credible.
There is a moment in Sunset Boulevard where William Holden’s
interior monologue—so many of Wilder’s films rely on narration—
mentions the childlike handwriting of the Gloria Swanson character.
We do not see that writing. It is a writer’s ploy, astonishingly
unadapted to the medium. That is typical of Wilder. He outlines
characters on paper—in dialogue, setting, and situation—rather than
in revealed behavior. Very often in his films, the actual images are
incidental to the “facts” of narration and dialogue. It follows that the
films are frequently bare or fussy: because in the first instance he has
given too meager a brief to the art department, and in the second too
much. The house in Sunset Boulevard bulges with detail that is all
referred to in the script but that is never more than a gesture at
plausible atmosphere.

Jokes aside, even though cinematography and score are all stellar as expected from Kobayashi, I find it hard to engage with this level of scriptwriting.
When the humane quality (which I find well depicted in Kurosawa's filmography for instance) is traded for an explicitly stated quest for ''humanism'' (or some such paraded abstraction) Kaji, the alleged hero of this trilogy, comes off as inherently detached and narcissistic, his struggles and exploits not as epic and moving as intended, but rather myopic and exhausting, annoyingly preachy.

>Unironically, what is the point of having relationships?
It's not something I ever pondered much, to be sure. I feel like most relationships grow organically beyond a prior infatuation. Caring over a significant other is something that deepens with time. And then to (sort of) build your life around it is a beautiful process, if sometimes complicated and laden with pain.

Not for everyone, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I would conversely ask what the point of casual sex is. I always found it to be lackluster or maybe I can't flow as freely with somebody I'm not intimate with.
