1/2 Rating system: Excellent!Worth a watch! Good Job! Not Worth Watching! (well-made but pointless and dull)Hot Garbage! The Substance (2024) – A wildly Excellent body horror in three distinct stages -- each of which goes farther than you’d expect -- and another good example of why it’s best to go into some things blind lest you spoil an actual *surprise* for once. It takes place in a grotesque sort of AMPLIFIED Hollywood setting, where spandex fitness programs never went out of vogue and broadcast television has no problem showing lots of topless dancing girls on a New Year’s special. Instead of kvetching, groping media Jews, you have (naturally) over-the-top white guys all cut from a blackly humorous Lynchian mold -- Dennis Quaid leading the pack in his gaudy Price is Right suits, with continuous close-up shots of his time-ravaged visage, and in one notable POWER LUNCH, the camera zooms in repeatedly on his greasy mouth as he crunches, open-mouthed, through an epic pile of shellfish -- as if to say to the forcibly retired Demi, “*I* can be gross, because I’m the guy behind the curtain, but not YOU.”
>>2046550192/2Sometimes, it’s good to not only go in blind . . . but to have distinct *misconceptions* about things. Because what’s better than starting from zero? Starting from minus-two, that’s what! I didn’t expect a lot, but I SO wanted to watch something just out of the cellophane, something from 2024. But where I expected Demi Moore thrashing around alone in a bathroom for two hours as she underwent some tiresome transformation, I got: 1.) Sunset Boulevard in overdrive with the above-mentioned Lynchian caricatures. 2.) A zany body horror roller coaster wherein a realistically AUGMENTED and constantly naked Margaret Qualley, as Demi Moore’s daughter-self, steals more of Demi’s life essence than is her fair share. 3.) A GWAR CONCERT GONE WRONG. All three stages are tied together by great sets that edge toward The Neon Demon in terms of neon pomp, flashy, top-tier camera work, and dynamic editing -- a HELL of a movie! Try not read reviews for hours like a timid fool and JUST WATCH.
>>204655019thanks. keep us updated, reviewanon.
>>204655026>Director Herbert L. Strock had very poor vision in one eye and consequently was unable to properly gauge how the 3-D effects were, and had to rely on others to tell him. Coincidentially, André De Toth, who directed House of Wax (1953), arguably the most famous 3-D film, only had one eye and could not see the 3-D effects at all.Humiliation ritual?

Another 3 new movies watched>SubserviencePretty boring. The first 50-60 minutes is all drama shit with no scares. Horror doesn't really start until the 3rd act. Best scenes were the 2-3 shots of Megan Fox in her bra & panties. Waste of time IMO.>#MissingCoupleIt's fine. All 3 are functional retards. Another innawoods movie where nobody brings a gun, which is just extremely lazy writing. Too many red herrings. Worth a watch if you're a FF Chad.>TarantulaSolid 1950s giant creature movie. >>204655273Let's not unless we're talking about how we wish for the director to die violently and screaming
>>2046552151/2Nightbeast (1982) – A strong, fun Worth a Watch from trash master Don Dohler, who was known for using his friends and family to fill his casts on the cheap. And it shows! But what these actors lack in raw skill, they make up for in unbridled ENTHUSIASM: diving, rolling, jumping, constantly risking real injury! No stuntmen available on this budget! If that wasn’t enough, they gleefully GIVE IT UP for the titillation of the audience -- stripping down, showing boobage, PAWING each other awkwardly on command! Don must have commanded some measure of devotion, because there’s nothing they won’t do for him.So a space monster crash lands outside a rural American town. He’s a big, bulletproof monkey-lizard thing in silver lamé FULL of murderous fury -- and he just comes right out of the wreckage of his craft KILLIN’ AND A-KILLIN’ with no clear goal in sight. I can only assume he’s the extraterrestrial equivalent of some kind of crack-maddened ghetto creeper, and that he probably stole the ship to begin with. He probably stole his laser gat too -- and he uses this to great effect in the first part of the film, dissolving A QUARTER of the damned town after they put together a posse to track him down. Sure, the laser effects have that old, airbrushed cheese . . . but they actually look really good in that cheesiness! Nice, incandescent, *very* hot-looking -- their paths traced quite perfectly, in fact -- and the sparkling dissolution of the townsfolk goes that extra mile to satisfy! The monster himself doesn’t look bad either, aside from some design wonkiness of the type you might find on the cover of an ancient SF story magazine.

>>204655192lol'd at the utility pole falling over
>You'll never get a letter from UnabomberFeels bad man. Also search in ok.ru for this documentary, is about a german guy collecting serial killer and horror stuff memorabilia
>>2046553112/2I don’t think you’ll fall asleep on this one, because it’s stupid fun from one end to another. And the romantic interlude toward the end must be seen to be believed! Tuckered from all the tracking and the murder-by-monster, the beanpole sheriff and his tomboy deputy have a SEXY ENCOUNTER in which they briefly face each other naked, both wearing smiles of *sly* anticipation. One naked body is shown, and it FADES into the other -- and for a long moment their nipples, perfectly overlapping, become ONE! Was it purposeful? Maybe, maybe not. But it amounts to “pure pottery,” as the boys say.

>>204654897watched the substance yesterday, it was far from worst movie that ive watched but some parts of it were very obnoxious. It had a subtelity of sladgehammer and fuck "it supose to me that way" folk, the film didnt had any substance whatsoever. It had mediocry yet promising 1st act, terrible 2nd and 3rd act that was carried by practicle effects. This movie should be done as a 20min short, minimal dialog from the 2nd and 3rd plan actors, keeping the style of the music video with some break for demi/young actress exposition, no dialog from them, they are a product. It would work much better in that format, instead we got something which is tryhard zoomer cronwneberg, with spike of demi moore trying to prove herself/people that she still got it. Beside her face being stuck to the back of the monster, i mostly seen her as travolta in "fanatic".Dont let anyone try to sell you this movie, its piece of shit without any thought behind it. >>204662802I HAVE SEEN ITits chill and comfy if you like the woodsotherwise its a bit slow mayhap for mostit does have an interesting premise and it pays off in the end though so go for it anyway, the chick from barbarian is nice in it i guess too
>>204663433Oh i had no idea, that's really cool thanks anon!
>>204663585NTA but I think it's too wordy for a viewing with others. The meandering nature of the movie doesn't stir conversation as much as a more directly intriguing movie w/ lots of action (say Stream) or something atmospheric and linear (Gonjiam Asylum)
>>204662802
>>204663585Watch something with a bigger budget. A slasher or something campy if the group is likely to talk a lot, something more serious if they'll actually want to watch a horror movie and not just have something on.
doing a Halloween marathon and finished 3glad that was the last of the series. It was good overall, although 2 dragged, but im glad they decided to end the series on a high notecan you imagine if they made an endless labyrinth of terrible sequels and reboots? haha
>>204663082Dana Wynter was a beauty
>>204663856All 50's movie stars looked the same.
>>204663635>>204663704>>204663774Thanks anons. We'll be watching three films, and so far I've got>TCM 2003>Tucker and Dale versus EvilThe third one was supposed to be Suspiria, but some unexpected people joined and it wouldn't work for them at all, so I'm looking for a replacement.
was that french spider movie any good?
>>204663936Top tier picks anon, kino
>>204663936Return of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, even Dawn of the Dead (2004).Zombie movies I think are good normie crowd pleasers, especially ones with comedic elements.
>>204663903No they didn't.
>>204663936Good list so far for a group. If you're looking for something silly you can put House on Haunted Hill (1959) on to end the night. If you're looking for something scarier but not too scary you could try Hell House maybe?
>>204663903they all had pointy boobs
>>204663936Mandy. Though not strictly horror it has visual appeal, oddness, striking scenes and a similar sensorial vibe though it's very different from Suspiria in other aspects
>>204664227you might be severely out of touch if you thing putting on Mandy makes sense at a party, unless your friends are all film geeks too
>>204663903
>>204654897Shaun of the dead is one of those movies that’s been so overly referenced and rerun on British tv it’s not even funny to me anymore. The same with Austin powers or Monty python
>>204664241It's not a party dummy, it's a gathering of friends. You're the one who's out of touch if you think ppl put any movie at all at parties kekMandy has lots of visual appeal of the type that makes ppl passing by stop or looking away from their phones intrigued by the images-- which, unless you're retarded, provide a lot to talk about as they have an eerie, strange vibe
>>204664314I never even found it that funny. It's a well-made horror movie either way.
I have been rewatching the Friday The 13th and Evil Dead series, and I just got to Jason X, which I had not watched since it released on theaters.Just how the fuck could I enjoy this. It's like watching something that it's a middle point between SyFy and The Asylum. It's that kind of movie like Dracula 3000 where they use closeups all the time to hide that there's barely any budget. And I just noticed who is the security chief at the space ship. Knowing how the movie ends, it's rather ironic how something similar happens to him in a different movie (300)I do hope the Friday the 13th reboot is better than this.
>>204664510>I do hope the Friday the 13th reboot is better than this. The best 2000s F13 is Freddy vs Jason. Better than both X and the remake.
>>204664510Jason X is divisive, but I enjoy it.>I do hope the Friday the 13th reboot is better than thisThe remake is good IMO, it's at least better than Jason, Goes To Hell, Manhattan, probably a couple others.
>>204664555>better than X
>>204664578It is. I don't hate Jason X but Freddy vs Jason is both more entertaining and much more competently made.
best Morticia?
>>204664555Oh, right. I forgot about that one. I'm saving it for the days before Halloween.>>204664561I was able to enjoy Manhattan. At least the music was good and seeing New York in the eighties is always worth the watch. With Goes to Hell, this time I have opted to skip it entirely.

Anyone watch Haunted UIster Live yet? I see it on the streaming services but can't find a torrent. I hear it's pretty good.

>>204664748
Still haven't finished The House that Jack Built. I have like 10 minutes left I think. Was hoping it was bloodier. Not as shocking as I was lead to believe.
Here's a horror movie idea:>Protagonist cannot die>I don't mean plot armor>He flat-out cannot fucking die>Body keeps putting itself back together in some of the most disgusting "Regeneration" scenes ever put to film>Unfortunately, he not only still feels pain but also keeps scarringThink Death Becomes Her but much, much, much darker
>>204664761I watched it last night and thought it was pretty stinky. It's clearly inspired by the babadook but it's significantly worse.

>>204664909The movie sucks and there are no tits. At least you get to see Art The Clown actor in a different role.
>>204664908I appreciate how you simply erased Part V from the equation. Though, it's not as bad as Part VIII.
>>204664970oopsits equivalent to X and Vs i guess, maaaaybe a step higher
Any other Horror movies like The Haunting (1963). With functioning adults who are professionals in their field?
>>204664908For me2=1>6>3>4>5>FvJ>7>X>Remake>8>GtHAlso you forgot Part 5>>204664908I liked it but it feels low budget more in the All Hallows Eve/Terrifier 1 way than the Terrifier 2 and 3 way. You have to have a taste for low budget indie horror.>>204664965There actually were tits, which was surprising for a 2024 slasher desu.
>>204664909Great movie. It has everything and the better acquainted you are w/ horror tropes and faces the more you'll enjoy it. It's also very pacy and you won't be bored for a single second>>204664965>there are no titsCringe autizmo comment from someone who obviously hasn't watched it

>>204665041>It's also very pacyI liked this about it. The fast pacing and the "takes place in one building over the course of one night" plot. Gives the movie a lot of energy.

I just finished Sinister lads. Give me a similar recommendation that's good on one of the streaming services. I have already seen Black Phone.
>>204664772Show her bush
>>204665089return of the living dead
>>204665101>energyPerfect description. The movie has energy and gusto, a true enthusiasm for horror and also an unbridled approach to it.It also breaks away from the retarded woke attempt to portray dads as weak and black guys as good

>>204665194>spoilerYeah I liked that too but I was also a little sad because I liked the friendship between the dad and the black guy lol. Also I wasn't crazy about the twist at the very end, would have preferred if the daughter died instead.

>>204665384Oh the character.I mean fair enough but the movie does have tits.
>>204665384One of the killers in the movie.
>>204665369The download said unrated. I thought the beginning with Uma was bloodier when I first tried to watch it, the breasts being cut off was really nothing. I just remember him holding it in his hand. The kid part was maybe the worst when it shows his leg?

>>204665106I'll watch it now.
>>204665347Yeah, but the classic horror bitch that's killed right on her introduction scene is fully naked with bouncing tits while her lover is a naked muscle chad, so there is nudity, just not of the pussy variety but that is also true for 99% of 90s horror, only boobkino
