Do people actually like the Halloween sequels after 3? The franchise is one big letdown, when you learn it was suppose to be an anthology Halloween series, with each movie being different story. We instead have them trying to relive the success of the first film with diminishing returns.

>>204679947Genuinely I like it a lot. Unflinching portrayal of how lives can be permanently screwed up by violent trauma, most of the kills feel like actual murders. It's a far better "deconstruction" of Halloween more than Ends ever was.Might be an unpopular opinion, but Zombie handled the idea of Michael and Laurie being siblings better than any of the original films, too. It has an actual, tangible impact on her life, the horror of it being that her blood ties come back to ruin her and she never had a chance; despite all the effort that was taken to protect her.

>>204679980>>204680067H4 is basically flawless aside from the mask.PROS> Great moody opening credits surveying farm equipment adorned with Halloween decorations.> Solid score.> The film certainty has a different feel from the original 2 films but is still very suspenseful & atmospheric in it's own way (and is still dead serious in tone)> Like 2 the film does a decent job of fleshing out Haddonfield as a real town with culture & history.> Donald as always is great.> Harris as Jamie remains among the best performances from a child actor I have encountered in a horror film.> Rachel is a solid final girl.> Sheriff Meeker (beau starr) I have always thought to be cool, his professional & trusting interaction with Loomis is more enjoyable then the more strained back & forth between Brackett & Loomis in 1/2. We get a faint hint of laziness/denial on his part with him initially trying to blow Loomis off but once he takes things seriously he goes into war mode like a boss.> I liked that they wrote both Loomis & Myers as having learned from the events of 78, what with Loomis not hesitating to demand a town wide curfew which he resisted doing in 78 and Myers taking out both the Police & Power stations early on & letting officer Logan take him directly to his targets.> Build up to & reveal of the police station massacre is chilling as well as the triple Michael sequence.> This is easily the most powerful we have ever seen Myers on film.> Entire ending from the battle atop the truck to the shootdown, to the twist is epic as hell.CONS> Worst mask of the series.>>204680030>pretendFuck you.

>>204680129WTF are you talking about?H20 has always been universally considered decent at worst and revitalized the franchise.Resurrection is the dumpsterfire abortion.H20Pros!> Solid showdown between Laurie & Myers. Michael ripping the axe out of his shoulder and slamming it into the ground was boss. Decapitation was great.> Secluded school is a decent location.> Young cast is decently likable.> The bathroom sequence is suspenseful.> Opening killings are suspenseful.Cons!> No character besides Laurie gets any depth.> Laurie's boyfriend is really likable but is wasted overall.> 3 different mask are used and ALL largely suck. Main one shows his eyes way too much, hair is too flared out & forehead is too big.> Marco Beltrami's score is fine but doesn't really vibe with the franchise's traditional music at all.Controversial elements some like & some dislike.> The post scream feel.

>>204681251The movie premise is solid, it was the director that fucked it up.With a couple simple edits it goes from undercooked to salvageable.
Aw come on don't be shy! Bend over and show me that big fat ass! Take off your underpants and strut around for me! Ohhh..... Oh yeahhh... pussy....
Old-time radio did horror better than film ever did
>>204681700anything prior the 60s has a rather slower and chill approach making it """boring"""" for most people with violated attention spans.
>>204681775Any recs? I asked an anon a few threads ago but thread was about to end and he didn't reapond.
Texas Chain Saw is a masterpiece but its kind of bewildering Tobe Hooper never made a good movie again
>>204681838The fuck are you talking about? Eaten Alive is a great movie. Poltergeist is a great movie. TCM2, Funhouse, Lifeforce, and Invaders From Mars are all good.
>>204681838directing poltergeist and lifeforce doesnt count? movies are always a collab process anyway, so no one ever "makes" a movie by themselves entirely.
>>204681868I seriously don't get the "I've seen 2000 horror movies and 8 of them were good" posters
>>204681838>>204681868>>204681876every single one of these movies suck
>>204681868>Eaten Alive is a great movieI'm rewatching it right now, which is what spurred my post. >Poltergeist is a great movie. No.>TCM2No.>LifeforceAbsolutely not.>>204681876>directing poltergeist and lifeforce doesnt count?Afraid not.>>204681908Sorry for having taste anon
>>204681934>TCM2>No.Faggot.
This lady is really hot though. Underrated.
>>204681868You're correct. Contrarians have usually bad taste
>>204681940The only good sequel TCM ever got was The Next Generation
huheuhhhehe hhheuhuhuheeeuuuuu
>>204681985I'm far from a contrarian.
Some contrarian takes in here. Imagine getting filtered by Tobe Hooper of all people. I get why some people shit on Mike Flannigan and even Wes Craven but Hooper is just silly.
>>204682021a couple weeks ago, some guy tried to force a Romero is a hack meme which obviously didn't catch on.

As a non-American how does Spirit Halloween work? They have shops just for Halloween stuff that are only open a few months a year?
>>204682014I was talking about the dimwits calling the movies you listed "bad"
>>204682021Again, I'm far from a contrarian. It's kind of odd to me you can see how Craven is bad but not Hooper. But I guess Hooper is at least good at creating striking visuals. Texas Chainsaw 2 could be considered great on mute. >>204682126I'm the one that was calling them bad, anon.
>>204682108as jealous of americans as I am for halloween, not having it be much of a celebration also makes it easier to be spooky all year round.
>>204682152>spooky all year round.imagine being a goth "adult"
>>204682021TCMs sequels legit suck. I like some stuff in 2 but its almost too obviously a cheap cashgrab (cannon), especially in the makeup department. generally its just a retread of the first movie but with less atmosphere and a proper throughline. if you wouldve just focused dennis hoppers revengeplot, you could concentrate the plot into something like a proper horror-noir movie and never show the victim and the killers till like the last 20 minutes.
>>204682177I have no interest in being an adult
>>204682145If you are, I'm sorry anon but your taste in movies sucks bc those listed here>>204681876 are all good to great
well done roth, well done
>>204682187TCM sequels do suck outside of TCM2 but that has nothing to do with Tobe Hooper.
>>204680008>The first entire half of the film, the best part, was.....all a dream!>Laurie is annoying as hell, and half of the film is just her crying and yelling "FUCK" or "SHIT">Dumb ass ghost mom and white horse nonsense, clearly only added so Sheri could get another role>Movie tries too hard to be "deep", instead of just accepting that it's a Slop Zombie flick>Dr Loomis is actually.....EVIL now! Why? Because....because okay?>Typical Rob Zombie edgy teenager/wigger-tier dialogue>Michael Myers is literally nothing like the original anymore, he's a completely different character. The original Michael was the boogeyman, a mysterious mute killer with little to no motivation, and one who is rarely seen without his mask. Now he's a bearded retard who talks and grunts, and walks around without his mask on through half of the film, and is also told to kill people by his ghost mother lmao>Not a single character worth caring about here, unlike the older films. All the characters are annoying or unlikable >No good cinematography or visuals at all, it looks like a shitty music video At least it's original and it did the trauma thing before it was popular, right Rob bros?
>>204682231>well done roth, well doneSaid no one ever. One of the worst directors in the history of the horror genre. You know he is a talentless faggot when his most notable film EVER is Cabin Fever of all fucking things.
>>204681382I like the religious imagery in 2 and 3. Doesn't feel blasphemous for some reason probably because the director is a wop
>>204682209Damn, you got me, anon. Based.
What am I in for?
>>204679628Feels like I have been slacking off more this year despite being on track with my schedule, I need to lock in and go hard spooky mode in the next two weeks.
>>204682256Another clueless contrarian take, where do these Kindergarten spergs come from?
Whole bunch of slop worshippers in here. Your favorite movie is dogshit and you're obese.

>>204682463If that's considered a classic, than the word "classic" is now a pointless, meaningless wordTexas Chainsaw Massacre is a classic, Halloween is a classic, The Exorcist is a classic, shitty Eli Roth slop is not>>204682477Yeah, he contributed so much, like....ummm....making shitty generic torture porn movies, which everyone was making back in the 2000s?
I don't watch any horror movies that don't have a Playboy playmate in it
>>204682463Yeah I'm sure Hostel is in your top 30 favorite horror films. Go ahead and try to convince anyone of that
>>204682463>Hostel is indeed a classic
>>204682475Horror directors? Let's see:Carpenter BavaFulciArgentoRomero Trying to see genre cinema as an exercise in nitpicking is childish and tryhard. Craven, Hooper and Roth are all very important names to horror and have directed great, epochal movies.

>>204682497hebe movie
>>204682500No, Hostel is a well acclaimed gamechanger that still holds up and consolidated torture porn as a trend along w/Saw. Roth, Eggers, Wan and Ti West are the most important 21st century horror directors

>>204682579how many times do we have to tell you guys to ignore the schizo poster
>>204682579>No, Hostel is a well acclaimed gamechangeraccording to who? Incels?
I didn't mean to start all this by calling Hooper shit I didn't think it'd be this divisive
>>204682510No, classic is a broad concept that includes movies which altered the path of cinema. >>204682510Cabin Fever revived the rural horror/body horror genres and resulted in countless imitations. >>204682630You have to be joking lmaoNeither of those films did shit. Saw started the "torture porn" trend, not Hostel. Eli Roth films have never been "acclaimed" either, stop lying >>204682643>one guy Are Roth fags really this delusional?
>Eli Roth is an important figure of his eraAh yes, the era of shitty parodies, torture porn, and bad remakes of good Japanese films. What a high point for horror.
>>204682564I didn't include Roth and Fulci was the type of visionary who influenced not just the next generations but his contemporaries. You have no idea what you're talking about.>>204682588I could list them but you sound as if you're a cringe 12 yo who's clearly out of his depth

Ever notice how the Beavis and Butthead fag can never actually make counter arguments? It's always just "Y-you're stupid and pathetic and you don't get it!"I'm sure it truly takes a 160 IQ to understand Hostel and all of its massive, critically acclaimed legacy lmao
this is easily the best horror movie ever made
>>204682923I mean it's easily the best Dracula film.. well after Herzog's Nosferatu of course.
this is some anxiety-inducing bsthe timing required to go around town and interact with junk they've no control of (like the train), all in a single take is impressive
