Ticks was good fun. You anons came through with the Tubi recs last night. If you like low-budg but well made, early 90s horror creature features, then this movie is for you. It was a bit loose with the character development and the plot but the premise, setup, and actors were all entertaining, as well as having very nice practical effects. Crazy that the two most recognizable actors to this day aren't even named on the poster. 1993 was really a weird in between time for 90s movie culture development.

I watched this as per the last (x2) thread, and really, really enjoyed it!
Unsettlingfags, do you have any other slow burn (but still engaging) arthouse style horror films which surrealism and a focus on alienation? I enjoyed the wandering around empty public locations at night, but it doesn't specifically have to be that, just that alienation vibe, the kind of NYC-at-4am type of thing.

Scream was an incredibly fun slasher, do any of the other sequels hold up? Sidney a qt, but damn they got tons of fine looking women in this film

>>204766699
I assume a lot of it has to do with how simple and formulaic the genre is. Some slashers are really bad, genuinely unwatchable, but then there are some slashers that are still "fun" to watch despite being bad or not special in any particular way, and those ones are probably more generic. They don't try too hard to be different or force a vision that just isn't there, they provide just what you want and expect out of a slasher. Nudity, young people in a confined space or specific locale being picked off one by one, and occasional or light entertainment. There's also the fact that slashers, at their core, is such a base horror story. Serial killers have existed for ages, thus so have stories of people being killed off by someone or some thing. It's why you can call so many films or books "proto-slashers". If you look hard enough you can find a slasher in most horror media.

No prob. They're roughly chronological except for a couple out of order so there's that way as well. Some are going to be minor characters.

I might be confusing Return Of Swamp Thing with the first one, I could've sworn there was also one ultra-tiny un-man in the second too.
She Freak I should add is barely horror but it's a remake of Freaks.

It's just strange how it came out of fucking nowhere but apparently it's how it happens.
At least eye doc said everything else was fine and it was something natural so unavoidable anyways.
Apparently with time it gets less noticeable and gravity helps move it away from your center of vision.
Speaking about that, what's horror some eyekino?

Thought it was amusing. Low grade gore and gratuitous nudity kept my attention well enough. The weird cgi raccoon that was really more like a gif superimposed on the screen was a good gag and got a couple of laughs out of me. This movie also has what is possibly the ugliest chick I've seen in a horror movie and unfortunately she has a nude scene. Seriously that bitch looked like the bathtub lady from The Shining.
>Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey 2
I was surprised by how good this movie actually is all things considered. Seems like the type of movie Terrifier fans would enjoy. Pooh and Tigger are basically just stand ins for Jason and Freddy even down to Tigger calling people bitch. Good modern slasher dragged down by the gimmicky concept

>Day 22: The Mangler
This was fantastic. Big thanks to the anon who posted that webm grid of the flick, it convinced me to watch. And it's great. Tobe Hooper is in top form here, with a really solid Stephen King adaptation. I don't give a fuck what critics have to say, it's fantastic. It's understandable how people would write off the premise at first glance - "A killer laundry machine?" - but there's so much to like here. The whole film is shot really well. The industrial laundromat looms up like a gothic cathedral, the rich, grotesque owner looks every inch the mad villain (He reminded me of Nothing But Trouble's loathsome judge) and the machine itself looks best of all, a giant iron medieval torture device that dominates every shot. Just seeing that machine makes the flick worthwhile, it's incredible how they make an inanimate laundry machine look intimidating. There's some statement here about rich people exploiting the poor, blah blah, but what we really want to see is earnestness - this film plays its absurd premise straight, and comes out all the better for it. It makes itself feel real, so all the retarded shit on screen never feels retarded, and the spell never breaks. Really liked it.
>>
>>204770634
Lmao, yeah. It's awful. The ending is hilarious. The director actually thought he was making an important statement.
