Good morning, /film/
So I have seen C'est pas moi, The Room Next Door and Afternoons of Solited so far at a film festival.C'est pas moi was great but it will only be of interest to Carax fans imo. The film is pretty fast jumping from one topic to another connecting them through cinema. It also deals with the move from 20th to 21st century. It's a lot of fun and it manages to have some sense of melancholy as usual with Carax. There is some new material of which the Merde appearance, piano scene and the last running scene are the highlights. I loved it but if somebody has never seen a Carax film they might not like this at all. As far as Godard goes this has some of the same aesthetic choices, you could already see that in the trailer, but the end result is something completely different. The Room Next Door by Almodovar was ghastly and verging on parody for the majority of the runtime. Dying in style with Tilda basically. Some of the dialogues are ear scraping. The climate change one for example. The exposition at the beginning is utterly ridiculous. Afternoons of Solitude was another Serra hit. Potential masterpiece. The footage is truly stunning
>>204770731Ok, done, what do you guys want to talk about?
>>204771304I am interested in hearing another Carax fans thoughts on Annette?

>>204771586What is watched should be voted for. I doubt anyone will vote for a Gadon film, but I’d consider it for you Gadonbro. I’d be interested in what you might have to say considering the amount of time you have spent thinking about her.

>I have to tell you, for me, the film is 35mm celluloid. I made all my shit on 35mm celluloid. My problem is—it’s not technical, again. I don’t care about the scratches because maybe you got an old print. The problem is, the digital picture has to be a new language. But we do not use it as a new language. People are using it to look like a fake film camera. Why do they not think about a new visual language? If you see these fucking digital possibilities, you can create a new language that is only for digital technology. It’s really stupid if you believe that a digital picture will have the same quality as 35mm. Never! But you have a totally different possibilities in a different way, but you can use it. Why don’t you?

>>204788892Inaccurate. In reality she would be kissing a Jewish man.
>>204786972New here?
Study the title. “McCabe & Mrs. Miller.” Not “and,” as in a couple, but “&,” as in a corporation. It is a business arrangement. Everything is business with her. What sorrows she knew before she arrived in Presbyterian Church are behind her now. Everything else is behind her now, too, the opium promises. Poor McCabe. He had poetry in him. Too bad he rode into a town where nobody knew what poetry was but one, and she already lost to it.
