>>204792171It's hit or miss for people, I've noticed, but I liked it a lot.
I watched the best horror movie released this decade and no one in these threads have mentioned it once
Man, Smile was pretty underwhelming. Its too long for the story it tries to tell, there's too many dream sequence cop outs, still falls back into the "horror as a metaphor for trauma" shit, and many of the actors just drop the ball.Which is a shame since there's still some good parts to it like the music, the actor that plays Rose does a good enough job with the material she was given, and I also didn't think they'd have the balls to have the dead cat at the birthday party. I can't believe I gave the series a chance with their marketing.
>>204792275I watched that one too
>>204792275Sounds like you've been busy reading every post in every /hor/ thread for the past couple of months
I'm watching leprechaun now and the scenes without the leprechaun are indistinguishable from a porn movie intro

>>204792450I've done a hundred or so reviews in the past few months and I always post a pic of a poster and never mention the name of the movie in my posts. Lurk moar.

>>204794137how did you arrive at this conclusion?
>>204794137As someone who really likes terrifier, I'd say not yet. I still think it's too extreme for the general audiences. Maybe in time
>>204794137Seems astroturfed honestly. Terrifier def didn't justify his status. Is Terrifier 2 *that* much better? Does it actually build up some sort of mythology?
>>204792195Now watch the sequel!
>>204792732>Look up Chris Sarandon>He's 82 years oldTimeflyingpepe.jpg
>>204794137Only so far as they're both from dead franchises, and the fact Art basically has no competition atm other than Ghostface who is what, 30 years old?Art is definitely not be as popular as Jason/Freddy in the 80s but it's the closest we get for now as far as slashers
Bros...Why didn't you fucking tell me House was fucking AMAZING? Now I get what that Kungfu poster was talking about. K I N OINO
>>204792806me too i really like haunted house kino
>>204794137Is Terrifier even released in all countries?Jason has appeared as an enemy in Final Fantasy games. I'm not even sure if Art's been shown in Japanese theaters at all.You honestly sound like someone asking if a new pop singer is as big as Michael Jackson.
>>204794137No, Jason and Freddy are famous literally in the entire world with over three generations, my mother knows who both of them are and she's never watched either series. A fun fact for you guys, in countries where hockey does not exist the goalie mask is simply known as a "jason mask".
>>204794368we say that all the time. good to have another fan.
>>204794408Art just needs a dozen sequels spread out over 20 years or so to match them.
>>204794368It's been a long time since I watched it, maybe I should give it another go now that I'm a bit older. Not that I didn't like it at the time, I just feel like I can appreciate movies better these days.
>>204794431I'm gonna start binge watching more Japanese horror now.
>>204794466Art doesn't have television showings and VHS/DVD, he will never catch up. And no, streaming is not the same.

>>204794532It's fun, just like Mr. Crockett, both from HuluNothing outstanding but feels sincere what with so many horror movies trying to pretend to be more than the schlock they are, also effects are mostly practical too like Mr CrockettThe movies are just cheesy horror fun, simple as, though Mr Crockett is a bit more seriousAlso kinda strange Hulu is the only one I see putting new Halloween movies

imagine having to be Ashton Kutcher as the husband to 61 year old Demi Moore on set for this scene like>Damn honey you still got it, you fine as hell with that tight ass. I would totally have sex with you if I were in this scene and in real life when all he really wants to do is fuck another 16 year old in his dressing room.Like seriously imagine having to be Ashton and not only sip his coffee while Demi flaunts her disgusting flabby body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her stretchmarks and leathery skin, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that look into the mirror.

>>204795791everyone on set tells her she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, Demi Moore LOOKS LIKE THAT?? because they're not the ones who have to go home and get into bed with here, chomp on 3 blue chews just to get your sausage stiff enough to snake it in and keep that couger money coming to pay for your blow habit. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her dimpled pancake of an ass as she sticks it "out" to writhe suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in her "statuesque (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with personal trainers in the previous months. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person in this room before the studio security could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're Ashton fucking Kutcher. You're not going to lose your future political career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

>Day 23: Vampire BloodlustWeird movie. This isn't an anthology film, it's a clipshow. A collection of little five-minute vignettes, each of which feels like a scene from a different movie. The description calls it "Jukebox style". Whatever. The little clips are shot well enough, there's actually some real good costuming, but the effects are shit and not in a lovable way. Most importantly, I can't really give a shit about any of these out-of-context scenes getting thrown around. A lot of hot chicks get naked, so that's alright. Overall, I don't like this movie at all. In fact, I didn't even finish watching it. Maybe I'll finish it later, but I probably won't.

Recommending picrel It's great. Some mental asylum patients break out and start killing people around the town. They eventually trap a family inside of a house and it becomes a sort of Assault on Precinct 13 type movie. The actors who play the main few killers give surprisingly good and memorable performances , and it features Donald Pleasence. It has no relation to the video game or the shitty Uwe Boll films of the same name, don't worry
>>204796346Move over, rover.

>>204799419Damn. Not a bad idea. I’ll do something more thorough like that towards the end of the month but I can say best of that crop was “Strange Darling” and “In a Violent Nature”. Lower would be “Bodies Bodies Bodies”. Most disappointing would be “The Beyond”. Wasn’t a bad movie and I enjoyed it but honestly the most boring out of that trilogy of Fulci flicks
>>204799304theres no sex, babes, or rock and roll
>>204799510>A girl walks home alone at night (Arthouse trash, 5/10)based. i hate hipster horror so much its unreal
>>204799510>Slop>6/10What? You gave something you call "slop" a 6/10, yet gave Phantasm a 5/10?
>>204799371You forgot one
Relative normie watcher here. 2 hours of spooky movies on Netflix everyday while I use an exercise bike, but the selection is kind of ehWatched>Scary Movie (rewatch)>Scary Movie 2 (rewatch)>Scary Movie 3.5 (only saw 3)>Black Mirror (only White Christmas, season 3, and USS Calister were rewatches)>Shaun of the Dead (first "proper" watch)>Hereditary>Midsommar>Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil>The Addams Family (first proper watch)>Addams Family Values (first proper watch)>Monster House (rewatch)>Goosebumps (2015, rewatch)>It: Chapter One (rewatch)>Nope>Sinister (rewatch)>Sinister II>Old>Insidious>Insidious: Chapter 2>Insidious: Chapter 3>Insidious: The Last Key (currently on)I was surprised Insidious was so... underwhelming. Like it's fine I guess, but I expected something more. I'm just watching stuff with an October season vibe at this point, but is there anything that's ACTUALLY really good on Netflix? I'm limited to it as a platform at the moment. And this is something I've been wondering since it came out, but is the first Paranormal Activity decent at all? The whole market got oversaturated after it, but I always figure it was just some fad movie that would likely be underwhelming. I say this as someone who really likes The Blair Witch Project.
>>204799546He is right though. Phantasm is worse than slop.
>>204799546Phantasm is an acquired taste i would argue. that boy will have to marathon them next year again (all of them)
>>204799558which one?also how do you know i missed one, are you some kind of stalker?
>>204799546>5.5Phantasm 1 wasn't very good. Tall man carried it too hard. The second one is better.
>>204799559>NopeSurprised me. It was nice going into it but the no spoilers. Was cool to see Michael Wincott.
>>204799510rating movies out of 10 is for psueds. you'll never catch me doing it.
>>204799595Okay but how does slop get a 6/10? Doesn't slop mean low quality garbage?
>>204799510real men rate movies out of 3
>>204799559watch Deadstream even if it's not on netflix.
>>204799592>which one?Oddity.>also how do you know i missed one, are you some kind of stalker?
>>204799623It's hard to explain. Romulus was by definition, SLOP. But it WAS a solid 6/10.
>>204799629Numbers are for women and gays. Men use primitive grunts to rate their films.
>>204799650oddity was mid so i didn't include it since it's not a high point or a low point
>>2047996579/10 women or 5/10 women?
Black Christmas mogs your favorite horror movie. BOOM!
>>204799657Real men go to the directors houses and scribe their review on the walls with feces
>>204799617Excellent,because you come across as an insecure try-hard
Watched Alien: Romulus today and wasn't impressed. I expected more from Fede Alvarez honestly. It wasn't a bad movie just kind of meh. Was I the only one who thought the zero gravity stuff was badly done? Didn't seem to affect everything evenly
How has /hor/ made you feel this year
>>204799520Well do you know anything like the poster, besides Slumber Party Massacre II?
>>204799700sounds like your feelings are hurt but that's a (you) problem so I can't help out.
>>204799608Yeah, I liked it, but I felt it was a bit more of a western than outright horror. Get Out felt more explicitly like horror.Thinking of watching the three Fear Street movies I see. I knew of the books when I was a kid though I never read them, and I know it's R.L. Stine so it's not like I'm expecting something huge. I really like atmosphere and seclusion, particularly from pre-2000s horror.
>>204799304>Slumber Party Massacre>Sorority House Massacre 2>Nightmare Sisters>Sorority Babes In the Slimeball Bowl-A-Rama>Night of the Creeps>Hollywood Chainsaw Hookersand basically anything with Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens or Michelle Bauer in it.
>>204799617its a normal thing to do in your early "moviewatchingcareer". having a top ten of any sorts also falls in that category, because movie viewing is highly mood and atmosphere reliant. you watch the right movie during the right time of day and the right day of the month/year where it just fits your currently attuned emotional level, its instantly enhancing the experience. last week this day, it was a full moon and a single mention of it shifted the threads "taste" for the night and lots anons got moody for werewolf kino. what i want to say is, movie watching is not a job or a list you just work off, it has to be fun and there is ways to get there if you follow the flow/your gut.
>>204799721Reminded me that 99.9% of horror movies are extremely bad. Good reviews aren't even indicative of the quality.
>>204799657I watched Graveyard Shift the other night.UGG!!!!!!
>>204799623its more like easily digestible gruel for the masses. sweet, nourishing gruel isnt bad for you per se
>>204799640My issue is that I'm stuck in front of a smart TV and pirating something good isn't an option right now. I don't even have a laptop to hook up with an HDMI so I can watch some streaming website, so I'm stuck with Netflix.
>>204799721i discovered a lot of new favorites and for the first time ever an italian horror movie i actually love and i HATE italians. just generally.
>>204799785Fucking loved this. One of the few accurate depictions of an actual clinical psychopath.
>>204799739You can fulfill your promise and not post your undoubtedly clueless takes
>>204799745seen em all. you forgot evil toons.
>>204799793
>>204799846Giallo is one of the worst film genres. Second only to film noir.
>>204799879this movie was very /hor/ at times
>>204799909it was not worth watching outside of that one moment. much better ways to waste 3hrs than on a jewish mother joke.
>>204799871Then I'd suggest>know name of hot girl in movie>look her up on IMDB>go through all acting credits>find other kinos
>>204799909Yes. It had surreal horror elements much in the way that Hourglass Sanatorium has. An absurdist, nightmarish, tragicomic sequence of events
>>204799925dunno, its almost cathartic if you hate your mother. you can tell its a therapy session for the director on-screen. a lot of the movie is also very comedic. i do agree that 3 hours are a little much, i can see this condensed easily to 2.
>>204799933>brinke stevensnaizuri queen of horror

Strap yourselves in to whatever chair youre sitting in right now because what I'm about to say WILL shock you... Host (2020) was stinky poopoo.
>>204799887i rarely care for who's done it. maybe they just suck at the buildup. take Opera for example, you see the killer two times "off-costume" prior reveal and its still weak. the movie is fucking beautiful, i love the initial opera scene and the torture porn, but the jello aspect is boring as hell.
>>204800043>be me>own Roku >few years ago watching Black Christmas around Halloween>ad break comes>screw this I gotta go out and get something anyways>don't use Roku again for 6 months>get back on Roku>what was I watching on this thing again?>oh that's right Black Christmas, hit play>Roku remembers that an ad break was coming up and starts playing ads>turn offStreaming is absolute fucking garbage and I don't understand how people put up with it.

I'm a borderline richfag so this is how I watch my /hor/ since you all keep asking :)I've got subscriptions to:PrimeShudderNetflixMaxHuluIf whatever movie I want isn't free on one of em but will be a pain in the ass to torrent (and I assume it's decent), then I'll rent it on Prime. If it's recent and I know there will be a ton of seeders then I'll grab it that way. Simple as.
>>204800183that's about it in that one from memory. though there's much hotter shots of chiaki kuriyama running around.I did watch a j-horror anthology not long ago that had some succubus molesting a kid though lol.https://youtu.be/tphofvvDzTM?feature=shared&t=2496
>>204800085should of been a 15 minute short in an anthology flick
>>204800177It's more quirky than anything. Strange, but it all feels like it goes together, not just weird for weird's sake. It's very good.
>>204800251i have a vpn subscription with an endless amount of 4k rips
can anyone tell me if this show is any goodi'm tempted because i see Bruce Campbell right here
>>204800034>English language Seriously?
>>204800251How’s that borderline rich, I pay for streaming too lol
>>204800251>pain in the ass to torrentTorrents have by far the biggest selection. PtP has more movies than all streaming services combined, retard. Also>implying paying for streams is cool

Why do Italians have such fucked up minds?

I'm simply the best at watching horror kinos and that's why I'm rich.
>still no haunted ulster live release
>>204800086>i rarely care for who's done it.For me it's that and the whole detectives being the protagonists thing. It's like combining a shitty mystery with the worst police procedural of all time, I don't know how people can watch them. And I can't think of a single regular slasher with a mystery killer that's actually interesting besides maybe Sleepaway Camp and Cheerleader Camp. The original Friday the 13th too. But that's really it.
Halloween V was as bad as I remember. Please tell me Curse is at least better than Revenge, because I've never seen it.
>>204800333Why do the Americans?Russians?Germans?Mexicans?Haitians?etc
>>204795407It's okay anon, I also think it's pretty underwhelming and the best parts of it are the shots, lighting and locations
>>204800389curse is good if you like violence. not so if you like coherent movies.
>>204800389Curse is worse in every possible way but its sort of comfy as a background slasher.
>>204800407Ok good to know. Will still watch it, but from now on it'll just be 1, 2 and 4 for Michael Myers movies.
alright, this is the final film in my Puppet Master Marathon, (main entry) film number 15.will this defy logic and be a masterpiece? I'm about to find out.
>>204800422Why even bother 1 or 2
Any kinos similar to the book House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson?
>>204800422also make sure to watch the theatrical version. the general consensus is that it's better than the producers cut.
