Étoile is somewhat frustrating considering it has all the elements to be absolute kino: teenaged JConn, Europe, ballet (is there anything more kino?), a sinister plot going back to the 19th century; but yet it never really takes flight, it never crosses the line from just a good movie to something more. The ending was great and the climax with the swan lake performance and the giant black swan in the room (actually reminded me of Suzy vs Helena Markus in the room at the end of Suspiria) was nicely staged. Maybe my expectations were too high, i don't know. The main male actor was fucking terrible though, a truly bad performance. Also, i think i have a neck fetish now.

The creators truly did not care if the subject matter was age-appropriate for the kiddie viewers and would go the distance for a good gag, which gave the world the Animaniacs "fingerprints" joke that coomers on the internet love to reference but also more classic film-based humor than you can shake a stick at. >>204808885Are you fucking retarded? Not only have we had that OP image before, but it's way too damn early.
>>204808766This is true, 90s humour is heavily referencial about pop culture of the (then) present and mostly past, the amount of references to things from the 1970s in 90s tv/comedy/film is huge.
>>204808633love the pink shirt guy's reaction 4 seconds in, like "oh ffs" lmao
>>204808885Way too early but I'll let it slide since you used a Babs OP image
>>204808885We're not even at 300 yet, anon...
>>204808916first off all 50 post awaysecond, I didn't see that onethird, chill nigger
>>204808353I’ve been meaning to watch this one! I love the European 60s horror flicks with the fun dubbing. Just watched Chamber of Horrors the other day it was fun. Ben Mancowitz is such a chill ass nigga. What other movies on there now do you plan to watch? >>204808465No problem bb
>>204808966>Ummm it's only 50 posts away! I totally wasn't in a hurry to make a new threadKys, attention whore
>>204808885>>204808966>I NEED to be the baker!!!!! I NEED validation from my 4channel.org/tv friends!!!!!!
>>204808885I sternly disapprove of your behavior
>>204806775nurses lovvve horror media, or at least the affect of being a not-like-the-other-girls normie horror enjoyer
>>204809156Big if true
>>204809156Must be nice to date a nurse, especially if you're a hypocondriac.
WTF is this >>204808874
>>204809229It's an image from Barbara Crampton's Playboy pictorial, why?
>>204808633dafuq
>>204808633i'd like some of what HE'S having!!!
>>204808966>>204809011Technically it was 60 posts early, bump limit is 310 not 300
I finally started reading Mary Shelly's Frankenstein last night. I love the movies so I've been curious about the novel for a while. Bretty good so far bros
ay yo dis nigga reading!! great book
>>204809598I rarely read, but last month I read some of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories; ones that I've seen in movie form like Ligeia, Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Cask of Amantillado, etc. Reading them by candlelight with a storm outside was very comfy.
>>204808885Cringe newfag behavior
>>204808885Based oldfag behavior
>>204809697That is cool, I have been working my way through a bunch those Vincent Price Poe movies. I will have to check those out too
Do I watch Mad God or The Lighthouse tonight? Plan on potentially both but which one should I immediately see first.
>>204809598The only 2 adaptations that are faithful to the novel is a TNT TV movir starring Patrick Bergin and Randy Quaid as well as the Branagh-De Niro one.
>>204809766Those are both good movies. If you HAVE to see just one I'd go Mad God because the stop motion and visuals are really incredible
>>204809789Nice I will add the TV movie to my list, I plan on watching the De Niro version once I finish the book
>>204809758It's cool to see the differences between the original work and what the adaptation does with it. In some cases like The Pit and the Pendulum, the movie has almost nothing to do with the original story, it's just totally different. Others, you can imagine Vincent Price and the Corman casts and sets as you read them.
>>204809868Is that Harry Clarke Poe?
>>204809598Just in time for Del Toro's adaptation tbr in 2 months (unless they can't finish editing it) in Netflix. Con: Del Toro. Pros: shot on an actual castle and starring Christoph Waltz and Mia Goth
started watching Universal's Inner Sanctum Mysteries boxset, all starring Lon Chaney Jr. the way they photographed women back then was something. first up was Calling Dr. Death.
>>204810087I don't have any major expectations for this but I will be watching with cautious optimism
>>204810138Same. At least it is said to stick to the novel.
First time rewatching Slugs in HD. It's like I keep postponing all the "good" movies and sticking with B to Z. It was either this, or The Exorcist II.
>>204810007Yeah, the Franklin Library copy I got of Tales of Mystery and Imagination use Harry Clarke's illustrations, which up the atmosphere as well
>>204810087>Del Toro's adaptationGonna be beyond cringe.
Just noticed there's a new Samara Weaving horror coming out tomorrow
>>204810193His production values are usually great even if most of his movies are not
>>204808633Watch this with the original English dub if you can. It's fucking hilarious.
>>204810192Nice, he did a set of HC Andersen illustrations and they're still creepy af with a lot of bare tits so i wonder sometimes if pretentious parents know what they're buying when they get the fancy gilt edge reprint
>>204810237Doesn't matter when the story and characters are pozzed as fuck.
>>204810240I just ordered the Blu-ray a few days ago, if it has the English dub I will check that out for sure
>>204810265It's a possibility but I'll reserve judgement until I watch it or at at least until some ppl have seen it and write about it
>>204810288I don't know if they did a new dub or not, but the original one is hilarious because the dubbers did not give a fuck at all about being accurate to the dialogue. Which made the movie even funnier. I haven't watch it in years, but I think there's a scene where people are playing soccer and a girl says something bad about one of the players and he yells back, "SUCK MY DICK, BITCH!"
>>204810371Looks like kino is on the menu!
>>204810186You made the right choice
>>20480888550 posts early? How retarded are you?
>>204810288Pride was so much better than UFC.
>>204810488Well, all I need now to finish the spanish horror part of my spooktober bingo is a bit of Paul Naschy.
>>204810586That's a good choice too. It's also got a really nice 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome
>>204810581PRIDE had so much sovl. UFC is soulless and the sport is now worse than it used to be
>>204810586That's a good one. I like the other title, The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman, kek
>>204810657They implemented too many rules to be a "legitimate sport" for the american public, it was supposed to be a vale tudo tournament, and now you can't even knee a guy in the face when he's on all fours, it's ridiculous.
>>204810288>>204810657>>204810657PRIDE NEVER DIE
>>204810186You're like me, you don't want to use up all the good stuff right away.
Lets end this thread
>>204811031see you on the other side, amen

>>204811002At this rate I won't even get to see the good stuff before the 31st, and I have Premutos pending since the last year. Fuck, I need to watch something really really good during the weekend.
>>204811466It was made 60 posts early, scroll up or check the catalogue
