You know those were fake, right? A considerable effort because the reviews did sound like Carpenter and it even included some plausible anecdotes but he and his agent both denied it (he simply asked: wtf is letterboxd?)
Even if he actually tried to distance himself from the movie I still consider it a cherished masterpiece with a great intro, phenomenal sense of place and outstanding OST

Étoile is somewhat frustrating considering it has all the elements to be absolute kino: teenaged JConn, Europe, ballet (is there anything more kino?), a sinister plot going back to the 19th century; but yet it never really takes flight, it never crosses the line from just a good movie to something more. The ending was great and the climax with the swan lake performance and the giant black swan in the room (actually reminded me of Suzy vs Helena Markus in the room at the end of Suspiria) was nicely staged. Maybe my expectations were too high, i don't know. The main male actor was fucking terrible though, a truly bad performance.

Also, i think i have a neck fetish now.

Thelma
HeBGBTV has a couple in one segment.
Also, suspense, but the two old broads in The Bat are obviously in a Boston marriage.

Movies with at least one lesbian in them are out there in greater numbers, going at least as far back as Theodora in The Haunting (book and original movie adaptation, not the shitty 1990s one).

Blog post: This morning I had my yearly check up for my work health insurance. When I went to weigh, I emptied my pockets and the nurse offered to hold my phone for me. She noticed the Friday the 13th wallpaper on my phone and it turns out she's a horror fan too so we chatted about Halloween and slasher movies, it was nice. Anyway, good news, my blood pressure is down and now in a healthy range.

Tonight's movies: Halloween 6 and Halloween H20

Yes, I'd tell them to get over it. They should be grateful the other sectors moved on and allowed them to live as long as they have. Without modern medicine & technology they'd be long dead. People need to spend less time harping on shit that happened 80 years ago, 100 years ago, 150 years ago, or in some cases 532 years ago. Maybe if they poured all that energy and thought into today, we could fix the hellscape we live in.

Can't believe I forgot The Moth Diaries; there's a full-on lesbian love triangle in that one.
- Laura (Mrs. Danvers)
- Mother of Tears sucks ass, but does have a lesbian witch couple.
- Lizzie (2018) also purportedly sucks, but explicitly gay Lizzie Bordon? Nice.

The humor in those 90s Warner Bros animated series was top notch. The creators truly did not care if the subject matter was age-appropriate for the kiddie viewers and would go the distance for a good gag, which gave the world the Animaniacs "fingerprints" joke that coomers on the internet love to reference but also more classic film-based humor than you can shake a stick at. The amount of Orson Welles ones alone probably is in the dozens.

The town sequence, especially the shots of the Fog turning corners and chasing after the protagonists is clearly Carpenter paying homage to The Blob.

Throughout his career Carpenter paid homage to sci-fi of the 1950's. That was kinda his thing.

Throughout the film Delamorte talks about how he'd Iike to see the outside world and discover something that isn't his town. It is repeatedly implied and outright speculated by himself as well as others that there is nothing out there, nothing beyond their little part of the world. TCM is entirely based. Beats the pants of every streaming shitform out there except maybe Criterion, and their dedication to showing everything uncut is vitally important in a time when the corporate internet is full of retards voluntarily writing "h***" and posting Tardtoks praising censorship. They showed Birth of a Nation just this week.
Completed my Val Lewton /hor/ watch list this year thanks to them.

Watch Spirits of the Dead (1968) that's on there now. Prime Jane Fonda (and Alain DeLong, and Brigitte Bardot but unfortunately they hide her under a fugly wig) and some fantastically cracked-out production designs. Spooky white loli Death in the last segment is particularly cool.

that's mostly because Maurice LaMarche did a killer Orson impression
this was a byproduct of Gen X upbringing, they grew up immersed in television, and did have a shared knowledge of early 20th century pop culture. 75% of 90s MST3k jokes I imagine must be absolutely incomprehensible to modern audiences but back then they weren't so exaggeratedly obscure (they were just kinda geeky, but not challengingly, bizarrely arcane like they must seem now.)
