Think of movies you like. You must yave watched some horror films. Then watch the movies that inspired and influenced their creators and work your way from there. Eventually you'll develop a taste and begin searching for horror films with specific elements you enjoy. Also, don't be afraid to watch very old movies or very recent ones. There's always something interesting to watch if you're willing to sift through the garbage. Don't listen to deranged 80's fags nor z-celeb waifufags shilling their newest shit movie.

I genuinely think he had the right idea and the only thing he did wrong was that he was ironically too nice and patient with the scientists, which is also what got the previous captain killed. He was still giving them chances to show that their work was useful instead of immediately saying playtime is over and we're leaving and finding a better location.

Written a horror that deals with self harm and cancer. Kind of silent hilly dealing with overcoming personal demons.

Been told to get a sensitivity reader which I guess I'll do in good faith, but I've always operated under the idea horror is a pretty lawless place when it comes to portraying sensitive topics.

He had every right to shoot dr frankenstein. He only started to fuck up by killing the other scientist. I guess he needed flyboy and there was no way he would go without them. Romero obviously hates authority and tries to make the soliders despicable by making them racist and threatening the assault the female doctor. That being said, theres a very liberal attitude after the 60s which while being understandable due to corruption in the country completely denies the fact that these kind of well organised people that make hard decisions are necessary in situations like this. I dont think it would turn to fascism like that in all cases.

If I were in his shoes, I'd have been even shorter with the scientists.
He starts explaining to them that 5 of their guys have been killed trying to get supplies and specimens for the research, and the scientists just tell him "well that's your fucking job, asshole."
Then you've got the soldiers on the side muttering about how they're not even being paid, it's essentially volunteer work at this point with no central government around, and the scientists have no sympathy and can't even act grateful for their sacrifices. Then Frankenstein turns out to just be completely batshit crazy and Rhodes realizes all the time spent down there has just been bullshitting around.

Maggot cut focuses on Maggot and has cut other scenes out involving the others daily lives without him. There's an added scene or few that shows more of Maggot. There's really no need for the cut unless you really his character.

Did a Voodoo triple feature last night, which also helped me finally get in some old (pre-50s) movies.
I Walked With a Zombie is really good if you're interested in classic voodoo/zombie films. Barely over an hour long, too
>>

The only reason it exists in the first place is that the actor quit right after Mordum was released and knew the name alone would make a few bucks on his own website.

I like the concept of found footage horror, but why is it always executed so poorly?
trying to watch V/H/S, and just, how shit jumps around just kinda ruins it. Paranormal Activity series there's more of a thing where you can follow the plot, but V/H/S since they're doing this thing of re-recording over tapes that have been recorded on and so nothing really is a consistent narrative it just jumps around randomly it's just hard to follow so it doesn't really work.

are there any actual good found footage horror? Outside of like, Blair Witch Project if that counts?

The fact they abided by the rule that frankenstein's lab was strictly off limits seems like a glaring oversight, if they'd have gone in there sooner he, sarah and the other scientist would've been executed on the spot.

>Cutting up his soldiers
>Experiementing on his men
>Experimenting on weird fetus monsters
>lack of safety restraints
>lack of hygiene

The spic was the real villain of the movie regardless
>start of the movie, deserts sarah without even checking she's following him
>almost gets his fellow soldier killed
>Tells sarah he's scared, starts getting mad she isn't outwardly scared, calls her a bitch
>she tells him she is scared, he mocks her, injects him, and he slaps her
>she leaves him in the room (with a loaded m16 btw) to cry
>He ACTUALLY gets his fellow soldier killed (and himself bitten)
>Gets his arm amputated, and saved from firing squad
>Repays their kindness with getting everyone killed by letting the zombies in the base

Raimi's been up his own ass for a while. I can understand him not wanting to direct any more Evil Dead movies, but I don't understand why a guy who whose success in film came mainly from his zany and creative camera work/editing keeps producing these movies and selecting these bog standard amateur directors who have no originality or vision, and just rely on generic tropes and whatever's already popular
