ok I finished Uzumaki (2000)
I liked it, it was almost a horror comedy version of Ito's story but it was shot really well.
downside is after telling only a tiny bit of the story it goes "uhh we've run out of time for the rest so... movie is over now"

2 is basically micro budget, it was only $250k. I can't even understand how they made it for that cheap.

From what I understand 2 was an original script that got retrofitted into a Saw script.

Yeah, but 1 feels like a 20k movie. It's got a tiny cast and only a couple locations. 2 is a much bigger movie. But yeah, I guess a budget 10x bigger explains it

>>204989075
Solid decision on their part, it was a good script.

I want comedy and fun back in zombie films. I want my protagonists enjoying themselves after realising society has collapsed and they have no responsibilities anymore and indulging in whatever leisures they see fit, I want to see them throwing pies in zombies face, I want to see them being tripped up with tripwire, I want a parody of the Scooby Doo hallway chase scene with the Benny Hill theme playing. I hate that every zombie film now is usually some depression edgy woe is me bullshit, or babies first existentialism stuff.
>>
Where is there left to go after the Spookifier franchise, bros? It really is just depraved sadism, best reserved for underground stuff the normies won't touch. Maybe you can depict some rapes but that's about it.
I really think horror is doomed that these dumb retards that grew up during the "gore is scary" phase are making movies like this now. Nothing at all is being left to the imagination and all you can do is give up on the genre or wait for lobbyists to shut it down for a few decades and let stuff like Scaremotron 3 fade into the background long enough to be something people only pretend they watched.

Saw II is a good film
>>
Halloween is a dying holiday at this point. There are holidays that can be celebrated equally on a communal level as well as a more personal level (involving family and similar relations) such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, etc.; and then there are holidays which are celebrated primarily on a communal level, such as Halloween. We can observe this by the fact that the primary "celebratory" aspect of Halloween is the custom of trick-or-treating, which is ceasing to exist. Community breakdown, lack of safe neighborhoods, etc. has lead to trick-or-treating being restricted to tighter social circles and in some areas practically eliminated. The people carrying the tradition along are doing it with practices such as "trunk or treat" or Christians who reject the holiday engaging in some sort of harvest festivities. The holiday is propped up at this point by haunted house attractions and horror movies. I don't think even Halloween parties are much of a thing anymore. This is probably a good thing, little kids dressing up like Satan and going around begging for high fructose corn syrup isn't really something defensible to begin with.

It's funny you mention Halloween's North American decline whereas countries around the world, especially China and Japan, are embracing it.

Halloween is Christian. You're forgetting Ireland wrote half of Christianity. St Patrick's Day, St Brigit's Day and St Blaise's Day, St John's Night, Michaelmas, Halloween, plenty of Christian holy days are just Irish people wanting to get drunk and eat cake while setting shit on fire.
I mean, St Patrick's Day being in the middle of Lent should have been a sign half the religion is loopholes of an alcoholic.
