I feel so divided. On the one hand, before the ending I really felt this was the best Argento, maybe even better than Suspiria, but before the ending I don't know what to think. This is either a 10/10 or a 0/10, it all depends on the eye of the beholder.
I just came so hard watching this: the camerawork, coloring and composition is just beyond amazing, and the plot is also so deep and clever too. There is an atmosphere of dreamlike unreality that permeates the film, and the insane ending just enhances that crazy feeling to levels that I've seen no other movie achieve. In one word: insane. This movie is insane, a must watch for all of /film/ and every kinophile. This is Argento at its most brutal, most maximalistic, most dreamlike, most crazy. You need to see this shit right now.

I fell asleep eating a burrito, while everyone else was out trick or treating and having fun. I think I have reached my lowest point in my life. I’m so depressed that I don’t even care that I am depressed anymore. I actually feel sort of liberated and elated by this. I have a feeling that things are going to change soon for the better or worse. I don’t care whichever way it goes. Films for this feel?

>An Ambiguous Report About the End of the World
>The Emperor of California

>The Song of Roland
>A Spring for the Thirsty
shilled by anon(s) around that time
>Away With Words

>Blonde

>From Day to Night
anon(s) was searching for these for months

>Horror and Hamsters
an anon would always respond with this when people were asking for recs
>In Water
Hong Sang-soo had often been discussed in the past, and anon(s) made a meme out of the fact that he couldn't even bother to focus the camera for In Water
>Kino Eye
Vertovian editing was a meme for a minute
>Maesta, The Passion of the Christ
last minute addition. I had watched it and posted about it around the time I made the chart, and another anon told me to just add it to fill out the chart

NTA but:
Night of the Galactic Railroad was shilled for some time by a proper /film/ anon
Idk about Il nostro natale, don't know what it is
That k-drama looks random too
Joker 2 was a meme and also shilled ironically, if it is here then The Substance also would need to go in

Love Hotel is on there, row 4 column 3, and Melody JAVs already made the no/film/core chart
>>205156575

>And why's it called niggafilm
Exposed yourself as larping or giga newfag
>So the 'context' is just that these films were mentioned here in some capacity at some point
Some have a deeper lore than "just being mentioned". Abiding Nowhere / Walker webms have been a meme for a long time, same with Hitchcock's obese gaping asshole and bullshit like Joker 2. So yes, the chart is a recollection of /film/'s culture for this year, think of it as a highschool generational yearbook. So anyway, now that the nigga era is over, what will be of /film/?
>>
>>205157599
we still got two more months of /niggas/ the new era starts in 2025.
>>
>>205157400
Yes, you should watch it. You will get it if you have lived, had "friends", drinked, done drugs or had fun outdoors sometime in your life. Doesn't mean that you will relate to it, though.

>>205157520
>Tsai was already on the nu/film/core chart
Yo, but isn't the point to make a historical accounting of /film/'s culture at this point in time? This criteria seems like historical revisionism to me
>Ferrara has been discussed quite often recently
I'm a top Ferrarafag and still feel that he wasn't as important to this era as other directors
>>
>>205156082
more like two tiers above, tsai is decent but extremely repetitive and not pushing anything forward except for duration of his shots.

keep coping.

>>205156316
>Tsai is S tier

>>205157199
portugal is not spain. i do agree costa is better and i like him more so far but he is getting too repetitive meanwhile serra is moving in different interesting directions. i think costa peaked already with in vandas room, colossal youth and horse money. vitalina was quite subpar compared to those films.
>>
Where do I start with Tsai?

Rebels then go chronologically.
That’s what I’m doing, and I’m excited to start again now that October is over. Been very enjoyable so far.

>>205157770

>>
>>205157414
Absolutely delusional, as I already remarked.
>>205157858
Not rare. Everytime Tsai is mentioned people say this.
>>
>>205157842
Alright, you're excused then; this "era" of /film/ was called nigga/film/ by some anons due to a sudden influx of spamming "nigga" posters that characterized themselves due to their spamming of the word "nigga", being racist, using black american slang and derailing threads with /pol/ ragebait shit. It lasted for a while and then they got bored or banned and it ended. What did you do in a decade without /tv/, btw?
>>
>>205157937
The thing that is rare is people giving good advice, yung padawan
>>
>>205157761
>Yo, but isn't the point to make a historical accounting of /film/'s culture at this point in time?
the original /film/core chart was made to try and capture /film/'s taste at the time, with a few culture memes thrown in. imo they are just lists of directors/films relevant to /film/ in some way. I don't like repeating directors because then every chart would have the same handful of directors
>This criteria seems like historical revisionism to me
I've always said I'm not repeating directors with these
>I'm a top Ferrarafag and still feel that he wasn't as important to this era as other directors

>>
>>205158224
The Hole is actually not that hard to get into. It's Goodbye, Dragon Inn that can actually filter you. Just watch Da Whole if you want, it was my first Tsai and it didn't filter me at all.

Tsai is the most overrated faggot here. The collective cognitive dissonance when it comes to praising a faggot who shoots everything from the most boring angle imaginable, wide single shots for 5 minutes cut to another and another. Wow bravo Tsai, give him the Golden Leopard! CCTV tier hack, making the same film over and over. His only good films, which aren't melodramatic tripes are The Wayward Cloud and Face.
Zhangke, Hou, Wang Bing, Joe all clear him. Not even mentioning the slow cinema directors from Europe.
