Season 5 and 6 aren't actually that bad desu. They're steps down from Season 4 but they're still entertaining. Season 7 and 8 is where it goes full retard. My advice is watch Seasons 1-6, if it's so bad you can't watch it anymore watch the original show's finale which sucked so badly it was hilarious and then jump to New Blood-Resurrection which brings the show back to the quality everyone liked Dexter for.

Dexter at its heart is a superhero show and thankfully it knows it. Just have fun watching.

I imagine they've already outlined the general idea for s2 since this was always planned to be multiple seasons. Additionally, they were so confident by the show's early reception that they cancelled s2 of Original Sin.
So my bet is that the writer's room will officially start work in January, if not earlier, and then they finish filming by the end of June for an October/November release next year.

I've noticed a pattern that everyone close to Dexter dies because they become too obsessed with him. Quinn is literally the only one who sees Dexter as a serial killer but chooses to NOT pursue him which is why he survived.

That was probably me. Somebody was defending the crowbar theory weapon and I kinda sperged on him that we had seen the fucking weapon in Prater's vault and I pointed out that the manhole covers were part of the Dexter intro with a picture of it.
The NY Ripper is going to be a big point of contention.
Claudette catches him off screen and we get nothing but an aside next seaon explaining it, and we get two warring factions. The bait and switch cockblocked people who expected more, and the people crowing about subverting expectations and misdirection.
Or.
The show goes with the whole "Farm" aspect and we find out that Prater has a place for retired serial killers to hide when they get too hot for their own good. The catch being that they still have to provide some form of entertainment, like calling, emailing, or letters to their victims, or writing in depth details and descriptions for Prater to peruse later. Sort of a snack for Prater in between his serial killer meetings.

They can easily crank out Resurrection s2 quicker than that if they want to, especially with Original Sin being canceled.
I'd expect it in or around July next year, the same time s1 premiered, and they can do that and also make it feel less rushed, by getting most of the writing done in the next few months.
