I like that the show is exploring Earth which we barely see in the movies. I'm just gonna come out and say it, many of you will think I'm a retard.Prometheus and Covenant are my favorite modern Alien media outside of Isolation. Finally I can get it off my chest. Yes, there's plenty of laughable and dumb writing in Prometheus and Covenant, but shit, the movies at least feel kind of new and refreshing for the Alien universe, they did something new and I wanted to see where they were going to go with the engineer story.I can't even tell what they were going for in Covenant. Was the planet supposed to be the engineer homeworld, because it doesn't seem that way, my head canon was that it was a planet of creations of the engineers, much like humans on Earth, and the Engineers would visit from time to time to check up on their creations which is why they all were gathered in a religious manner when the ship arrived, it was as if their creators had arrived home for the first time in a long time and this was a big deal for the guys on the planet, only for them to be wiped out.This way they could still have a sequel further exploring the engineers and their possible homeworld if they were even still around. But now that will never happen and the ending of Covenant is a cliffhanger that will never get resolved. David is one of the more interesting Alien characters. That said, Covenant creates its own issues with the Xenomorphs and how they were created, if David was their actual creator or whatever, and the crashed ship on Lv-426 has still never really been explained. Honestly the Alien canon is just a big stinking mess and every single new media that comes out messes it up further to the point you can't really stitch things together because of all the continuity plotholes. The big twist in season two is that the eye alien is not just some random balloon freak it is literally the one pulling the strings. Remember when Captain Drex suddenly forgot his mission and started crying in the swamp? That was eyelien rewriting his memories. Episode seven? The whole romance subplot with Kara and Juno? Fabricated by eyelien to test how humans handle jealousy. The finale drops the nuke though: the ship was never real it was just eyelien’s pupil dilating into a fake set and every single “human” is a reflection in its eyeball. By season three reveal we find out the opening narration voice was eyelien the whole time and it has been running a psychological experiment on viewers as well. Eyelien is not a side character it is the writer director and main star of the entire show.
