From the get-go Kirsch has been a bit too snide and snappy with Kavalier's orders and plans. You'd assume he's just programmed that way, to give a bit of pushback as a character trait, not to be to overtly servile. But as the show goes on he seems to have his own reasoning as to what's going on around him.
To be it appears like he's trying to be disobedient and assert his individuality, but in roundabout ways, since he's coded to obey. But if given enough leeway he comes off creepy.
Also that talk with Morrow in the elevator revealed a sadistic streak, even if it was only posturing against an enemy.
